I bough this brew pot for my initial foray into home brewing beer. Great value for the price. Made by Concord as is the Gas one pots sold here. This one has a bead rolled 3" from the bottom for the false bottom to set on. The temperature gauge is centered 6.25" from bottom which require 4 gallons to cover it. The impressed gallon markers are impressed before the bead is rolled which makes the 2 gal interval short and the above markings read similarly short by about a quart. The bottom inside and out is not polished at all. it has a machine brushed finished. The rest is polished nicely about one step below mirror finish. The welds are fair, considering the quality of Chinese welds. Nothing looks imminently ready to break! I must stress that YOU NEED TO CLEAN POT AND VALVE thoroughly before using this for any food or beverage use. This is a stainless steel product made in a metal shop and polished with polishing compound. There is residual polishing compound on all surfaces. An initial firm wiping with a white cloth or paper towel will reveal the dark compound. Wipe it all firmly down, then wash with Dawn dish detergent and a non-scratch blue scrubby sponge and it should be good to use. The ball valve plastic internals are lubed with heavy machine oil. This is your next cleaning job. It is best to completely disassemble the ball valve to remove every trace of oil. If this is beyond your ability boiling the valve a few times in water might get most of the oil to float to the surface of the water. Never tried it. After the initial cleaning, the after brew cleaning was a snap. The metal thickness measured .024" which is 24 ga stainless. The tri ply bottom firmly holds a magnet so I assume it should work on an induction burner. The temperature gauge needed a tweak down by one degree; no problem with the slotted adjusting nut on the rear. I got the Concord branded temp gauge with my unit which has two little barley stalks on the dial face. Cute! One small part problem was swiftly remedied by the seller. I have used this on a 2350 W 8" electric resistance burner on HI and it did not scorch the bottom. False bottom was easy to maneuver around the temperature probe. I should have used the bazooka screen to filter the hop debris on mt first brew. Next time (next week!) I will. If you need a ten gallon pot on a budget with false bottom, valve and temperature gauge do not hesitate to snag this baby! Edit August, 2020 - it does work very well with my new induction cooktop. Also, the bazooka filter is useless, it just jams up. Your best bet is to use a stainless screen canister for your hops. Happy brewing!

There are some reviews that say that the product arrived dented, I want to specify that in January 2025 my product arrived in a double box with Styrofoam and plastic protection. It was not dented and it is in perfect condition. The welds and seams have been polished and ground. It is an absolute masterpiece. it comes with instructions on how to install the ball valve as well as how to install the thermometer. The sifting plate needs to be positioned at an index that allows for the secondary filtration tube to accommodate the feet on the primary filtration plate. It is easy to do once you understand the geometry by placing inside. All in all this is a 10 out of 10. I am extremely happy with his purchase. In fact, I couldn’t be more happy. They have done everything right with the geometry and the production and the delivery. I am probably the most happy I could possibly be with this purchase. Way to go to the staff.

After reviewing other reviews I was a little skeptical about my purchase. All I can say is that when you comment on something people do listen. When I placed my order I was surprised to see it on my door step two days later. Not one scratch on the outside of the box and I was surprised when I opened the box that my item was doubled boxed. all items were securely packed and not one dent or scuff mark was noticed. After all the parts were set on my work bench I was able to follow the instructions step by step with no problem. Before I new it, everything was put together was put together and ready to go. If you are working with specific temperatures I do not recommend using this on a cold windy day as it is hard to control the desired temperature. After relocating inside using the kitchen stove I had full control of everything. The two test runs of plane water worked and no leaks were detected. The 3rd run was a success with ease of temperature control with a turn of the knob. I made a 2ft flex hose that connected to the ball valve and the tube strainer that was included. everything drained into my bucket without a drop hitting the floor. Clean-up was a breeze. The everything cleaned up with hot soapy water and a soft rag and no residue was left behind. All I can say is that I highly recommend this product and I will be purchasing a larger on in the near future.

This is definitely a high quality stainless steel kettle with a nice sturdy false bottom and bazooka filter, a pretty great product all in all. Mine would have been Flawless, except for it came out of the box with a big ugly scratch down the side of it. After staring at the scratch for about an hour I decided I was over it and didn't feel like I wanted to complain to Concord about it. It does bear mentioning though. However I still love the kettle and will be using this for a long time, Cheers!

This is a nice sturdy brew pot. A magnet does stick to the bottom. As other people have mentioned it does required cleaning with a Degreaser before use. I completely disassembled the ball valves and cleaned that as well. I'm sure glad I did because there's a lot of machine oil coating the interior surfaces of the valve. The Bazooka screen works well, however if you use it as expected it leaves half a gallon of wort and proteins in the bottom of the vessel. The markings on the side of the pot seem to be a little bit shy this is probably due to the pot being bent for the false bottom to rest on. Assembly on mine was easy. It does not leak in a silicone washers provided seal well. You're provided barely enough thread sealant tape. I purchased more because I remove the Bazooka screen the coupler and the valve each time for cleaning. I brew in the bag so I have not used the false bottom. If you are a brew in a bag (BIAB) homebrewer go with the 10 gallon pot I have learned this the hard way. The 10-gallon is not that much larger but will provide the extra volume you will need for 5- gallon batches. At some point in the near future I will upgrade. With 7 gallons of water and 10 gallons of grain the liquid is about 2 in from the top. High gravity beers will require a larger vessel if you intend to use full volume during your Mash. The welds on the handles are just a step up from tack welds. But so far seems strong enough that they will not break off. The thermometer is dead on. I compared it to a Taylor instant digital as well as a glass thermometer. If you brew in a bag if maybe a bit annoying when you're removing your grains from the mash. I put a small hole in one of my bags. I am considering going with a 14in probe thermometer and drilling a hole in the lid.

⭐ 1 Star – Failed under light commercial food use We purchased two 16-gallon kettles approximately six months ago for small-scale food production (heated vinegar brines). Both units failed within months of intermittent use. Issues experienced: • Base seam began leaking around the entire circumference • Leaks developed at both the thermometer port and ball valve fitting • Rusting began near welds and fittings • Steel is extremely thin and dents easily • One lid handle broke off despite minimal lid use Once the base seam started leaking, failure progressed quickly and became unusable. This may be adequate for light hobby brewing, but it is not suitable for repeated heating of acidic liquids or any semi-commercial food production. Would not purchase again. It's a pot, thin bottom and walls in comparison to the pros, but enough for the money, and the homey. But after 10 uses, the temp gauge wacked out, and I almost ruined a run. It became stuck at 110°F. Have a backup. I'm going to try and adjust it, but I'd feel better replacing. Does anyone know the size?
