These are pretty. My husband likes that they are purple and stand out on the countertop easily. BUT they are your average knife set that you could get at any store. They are not bad, they cut decently, just not a quality knife. The sharpener works well, but the knives do dull quickly. The scissors are not very strong, I couldn't cut the plastic packaging on a phone case. ... show more

I own many sets of knives and these are actually pretty impressive. As soon as these arrived, I decided to rinse two knives to try them. I had some raw chicken that I needed to chop up and had some frozen ribs that I was prepping to cut up and store in individual baggies for future meals. These knives are pretty sharp and you should use a cutting board that is stable. When I attempted cutting through the frozen ribs, it was a clean cut with minimal effort. I tried this same action with other knives and had a hell of a time but this worked out fine. As for the chicken, it also performed quite well. If you're into pops of color just because then these are for you. Soft handles, easy to hold and grip... Quality, quality isn't the best as these aren't the sharpest straight out of the box and after a good use and a round in the dishwasher they're dull. The block is equipped with a built in sharpener. Our old kitchen knife set needed to be replaced, the blades were beginning to show signs of rust and the serrated blades were getting pretty darn dull. We found this colorful Brewin 13 piece knife and scissor set on Amazon and decided to give it a try. The knife set comes with a black wood block for countertop storage and easy access to the right knife, needed for food preparation. The block also has a small built in knife sharpener, for putting an edge on your blades, when the need arises. Of course, you won't need to sharpen them for a while, since they come with a very sharp edge on each knife. The scissors not only cut, but, they can also be used to remove a bottle cap or canning jar lid. The set includes a 8" chef knife, a 8" slicing knife, a 7" Santoku or general purpose knife, a 8" serrated bread knife, a 5" utility knife, a 3 1/2" paring knife and a set of six 4 1/2" steak knives. The blades and the handles come in a variety of colors that will brighten up your kitchen counter. The blades are made of German stainless steel with a non-stick food grade coating to prevent rust or corrosion. The handles are ergonomically designed using both hard plastic (on the upper or top portion of the handle) and a softer silicon type material (along the bottom half of the handle) for comfort and stability, while using the knife. The blades should be washed immediately after use and before storing them in the block. The knifes should also be hand washed and not washed in a dishwasher (carefully read all the documentation that comes with the knife set). It's nice to have a good sharp set of knives in the kitchen. This is a decent set of kitchen knives with a storage block. The knives themselves were nice and sharp out of the box. It remains to be seen how well they keep an edge but we are happy with them so far. I have had other knife sets that were nicer but they cost a lot more too. For the price, this is a good value, a nice, solid, middle-of-the-road knife set. The lavender handles are what sold it for me. Where else can you get knives that look this great? I wish the color of the knives was more true to the pictures, they do not quite match. I would recommend these for a first knife set or for someone who wants to brighten up the place. ... show more
