  • Fantastic drip brewer!
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
I have really been enjoying this coffee machine. I previously had the Breville YouBrew, which I loved, but it was about 10 years old and even with regular maintenance, I figured the insides were probably pretty gross by now. I would have gotten something similar for simplicity, but Breville seems to be moving away from the all-in-one grind and brew machines. So I went for a separate grinder and brewer. It is still very easy to make coffee every morning. (My Breville Smart Grinder Pro is a dream.) The machine is fast and pretty quiet. So far I've just gone with the default brew settings and the coffee is great. I may try tweaking some of the settings in the future for different beans or roast levels, but I haven't found a need to do that yet. I've even tried the cold brew at the shortest setting (30 minutes) because I am impatient, and it was very smooth. I will do a longer cold brew when I have time. (As far as I understand, the cold brew is a concentrate and should be diluted - I would have liked some instructions for this.) Common complaints I see in reviews: some say it's noisy, but I disagree. Might depend on what machine people had before and are used to. Lack of instructions: valid complaint. There is a manual you can download online; I don't know why Breville does not include it in the box. They really should. The quick guides with pictures can be a bit confusing, but just look up the manual online and print it out if you want. (Or maybe ask Breville to send you one!) Hard to use: I don't get this complaint. It couldn't be easier. Unless you are tweaking settings every time, it is literally one button push to turn it on, and one button push to start brewing after you add the water and coffee grounds. I have the thermal carafe because I didn't want glass with kids around, and I don't like baked coffee. The thermal keeps my coffee warm for 3 hours, which is plenty of time for me to finish the amount that I make. (There is a count-up timer when brewing is finished, so you know long the coffee has been there. This is great!) If I preheated the carafe, it would probably stay hotter even longer, but as my previous thermal carafe did not keep coffee hot very long at all, I'm really happy with this. Daily cleanup is pretty easy too. I do wish the carafe lid came apart for more thorough cleaning, but then it probably wouldn't keep heat in as well, so we will see how that goes. I also sometimes brew directly into my Hydroflask tumbler. I could not find measurements ahead of time, so I was relieved to see that this worked. (My tumbler is 7 and 5/8 inches tall and just fits.) I am probably drinking more coffee than I should now, just because it is so good and stays hot long enough. I need to go back to my previous amount, but I am really glad I got this machine and I'm very happy with the features, ease of use and cleaning, and most importantly - the coffee that it makes. I also happen to think it looks really nice. ... show more

  • Breville Luxe Drip Coffee Machine does not work
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
I received the coffee maker and set it up with no problem. The first morning it brewed fine. The next morning it didn't matter how many times i pushed the start button, the coffee maker would not brew coffee. I tried multiple solutions from the Amazon and Breville support centers. None of these solutions solved the problem. The bottom line is that the product doesn't work and does not brew coffee reliably. This morning I had to press the start button 26 times before it started the brew process. This process took over an hour. The brew process ran for 20 seconds and never pumped any hot water into the brew basket. I called Breville Support and was shocked at the lack of knowledgeable product support at Breville. They asked me to rebox the product and ship it to their repair center AT MY EXPENSE. How about referring me to a product specialist who knows the product and might be able to help me before I ship it back? How about sending me a new machine? How about paying for shipping? I told the support person it feels like there might be a problem with the firmware. She responded there is no firmware in the product. This statement is patently false and it is obvious the human support agent lacks training. Finally, when you go to the Breville Knowledge Center and Search for "Breville Luxe Drip Coffee Machine", the search function delivers 1000+ pages of non-sorted and non-relevant articles none of which apply to the Breville Luxe Drip Coffee Machine. When you search for "Breville Luxe Drip Coffee Machine won't brew" you get the same list of irrelevant articles. If you can't search why show a search function? This a premium machine and customers expect better. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS COFFEE BREWER. Breville is pathetic. ... show more

  • Makes Great coffee consistently
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
While this coffee maker will allow complete customization of the brew process for both hot and cold coffee; it's standard Gold brew process is what I use. It makes great coffee every time. FYI... I also use a separate conical burr grinder to grind beans immediately before use as well as a pitcher water filter in addition to the built-in filter. Pair that with good quality organic coffee beans (from Costco) and the results are spectacular. ... show more

  • Great brew, a couple of things that need tweaking - but still worth it!
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
I have had the same Breville, but their older model for 6 years and just bought this for a couple of updated features. It was easy for me to learn it due to having the previous model, but I can see where some people may struggle with the menu system. Why it got 4 stars: The first one I received had to be returned because about 1/3 of the time it did not brew the full pot of water. It would stop part way through and I would have to start it again. Each brew cycle takes about 5 minutes. I do not pour a cup with what is in the pot since the ratios will be off with only half the water, so that's a long time to wait to get a cup of coffee. I requested a return and replacement - that went very well! (Thank you seller La Sur Table!) The new pot is much better, but it has stopped part way through once in the last couple of weeks since I got it. I'm paying close attention in case I need to return this one while it's within the return window. Brews an amazing pot of coffee, some of the menu features are actually redundant and a step back from the previous model. ... show more

  • Very happy with this brewer
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
This is a great brewer that does basically all the things you need. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of something like the Aiden. But I honestly don't care to mess around that much with drip coffee. This has all the adjustments that most people will care about. Really solid build quality, even when compared to things like the Moccamaster. The problem with the Moccamaster is that the metal parts of the machine are high quality, but the plastics they use are extremely low quality and prone to cracking. The plastics and other materials used in this machine are very high quality and they feel that way. Detachable water reservoir is something I didn't realize I'd like so much. No more awkwardly holding a pitcher over the coffee maker. Just take it off and fill it up. The thermal carafe also works really well. Tip* If you *really* want to keep your coffee hot as long as possible, pre-warm the carafe with hot water before brewing. Overall I'm really pleased with this machine. It's my first Breville product and I'm pretty impressed. If you're in the market for a high quality drip coffee maker, I'd highly recommend this. ... show more

  • Flimsy Construction, Inconsistent Temperature, and a Defective Showerhead
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
I have owned the Breville Luxe Brewer Thermal Carafe coffee maker for only two months, and I am extremely disappointed with it. First, the construction feels surprisingly flimsy for such an expensive machine. It is made largely of plastic and thin metal and does not feel sturdy or durable. Second, the brewing temperature is inconsistent. Sometimes the coffee comes out scalding hot, while other times it is barely lukewarm. A coffee maker at this price should produce consistently hot coffee. The most frustrating problem is the red showerhead shown in my attached photo. The showerhead and retaining ring repeatedly come loose and fall off. I contacted Breville, and the representative told me this is a common problem but offered no solution. Given the high price, poor construction, inconsistent heating, and unresolved showerhead defect, I cannot recommend this coffee maker. I am now abandoning it and purchasing a different machine after only two months. Save yourself the frustration and consider another option. ... show more

  • The controls are finicky and complicated
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
This is a very finicky machine. At least the one we received was. It’s not very intuitive. It’s impossible to stop the brew once it started. So, if you realize it’s doing something that you didn’t intend, you need to let it run and start over. For the price, I would expect something that works better. It does make good coffee, when it brews properly. ... show more

  • Good Coffee / Bad Machine
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: Thermal Carafe
After less than 6 months of use, the shower head and ring continually pop off during brewing. I contacted Breville and they sent me new parts, but the problem continues. I have contacted them again and they are going to send me a full replacement coffee maker. This is our second Breville coffee maker, the first one died after a few years (The Precision Brewer $300). The original one made great coffee, so we decided to buy another. The original model was unavailable though and so we ended up with this one, the Luxe Brewer ($350). Almost immediately I regretted our purchase. The water reservoir is finicky, the controls aren't as fine-tunable, and now this issue. For such an expensive coffee maker, I would expect them to be higher quality and last longer. Basically, not worth the money. I do like the taste of the coffee though and the thermal carafe, but I miss the original. When the next one breaks, I won't buy another Breville. ... show more
