This is essentially a little razor holder. Like all lames, you have to be careful with it. Some people may like the smaller format. If you are used to using a lame, I don't think it will matter. If you are not used to using a lame on wet dough, I think this will inspire confidence. It's nice that it's easy to tuck the blade away—there's no chance of losing a cover.

I ordered the Winsing bread lame extractable & magnetic bread dough scoring tool for my wife who has recently started making and baking sourdough bread. She has another scoring tool, but this has turned into her go to tool for scoring her loaves of sourdough bread. The scoring tool is small and compact and easy to use and with the extractable blade it is easy to extract the blade, score the loaf of bread and then retract the blade back into the handle for safety reasons. It comes with 6 blades, and it is easy to rinse clean and comes in an attractive Rose color at an affordable price.

This arrived in perfect condition and looks just like the images. It's made of a very lightweight plastic and feels a little flimsy. It's not the easiest to load blades into and takes quite a bit of force to open and close the blade. It's not a bad product, but I feel it could be better.

This is a review for Winsing Bread Lame, Extractable & Magnetic Bread Dough Scoring Tool - Professional Sourdough scoring tool for Sourdough Bread baking & Bread Making Tools with 5 Razor Blades - Coal (Coal) I have a teenager who has been really in to making sourdough bread this summer, so I thought she would like this bread lame tool to score her bread before baking it. As far as how it cuts, she’s satisfied overall. It cuts well—better than our kitchen knives (which is what I was hoping for). The one downfall to this particular lame, though, is that the blade takes a little bit of effort to get it seated correctly. I have no idea if this was included in any instructions—my involvement began when my daughter told me it wouldn’t retract fully (and I imagine she's not the only one having that issue). I spent a few minutes fiddling with it and figured out that if you put it in the “locked” position and push the blade down into the handle until it stops, it will be in the right position to retract fully. If you push it in while the slider is anywhere other than “locked,” the blade will kind of move up and down with the slider but the blade won’t be secure (which could be dangerous) and in that case it won’t retract fully—a little bit will be sticking out. My advice is to move the slider to “locked,” insert the blade, and then only move the slider to the topmost “unlocked” position when you change the blade. Then, it will retract fully and be locked in place so you can use it safely.

I was looking for a bread lame that would retract the blade fully, and would not accidentally open in a drawer. This fills that requirement. In fact, it's a little *too* hard to slide out the blade. Oh well. The handle is a little fussy when changing or flipping the blade, but not unworkable. The blades are sharp enough to do surgery with.

This is a very compact lame with a retractable blade that is very easy to change. You don't have to take it apart, just pull the old blade out and insert the new. It has a magnet inside so you can stick it to your stovetop or fridge for easy access. Nice.

Great little bread scoring tool. I like the holder for it, too; it is easy to hold and use. Also like the fact it has extra blades, and the whole thing is magnetic to stick on your fridge for easy 'finding.'
