I've used Braun for many years, now on my second razor. I've found it better than any others on the market, using electric razors for 40 years. The Silver For Series 5 head is well constructed, and this one is authentic, made in Germany. Don't get stuck with a counterfeit. I have a light to moderate beard, so it suits me well. A heavy beard, in my opinion, should use a blade razor. I too, use a blade. Nothing can beat a blade, but the Braun comes in a good second, if you shave every other day, not more than three. (remember my beard) I change heads after 12 months, not the recommended 18. For me, they don't last that long. Shaving times steadily increase beyond 12 ,months. Recommended.

The image shows an exact replacement for my series 5 razor but the part in the package has black plastic sides and not the metal ones original to the razor. Unfortunately the package was shipped in an envelope. Who does this with an expensive electric razor foil and blade? the package inside the envelope was predictably damaged and one side of the foil (plastic?!?) was broken off. The shaving block has two sides as well. One came loose and there did not seem to be a way to put it back as it would not remain in place. Perhaps it was damaged as well. But the short of it is that the shaving block itself is not identical to the original part (which I have replaced before with OEM factory parts.) This "version" was supposed to be an exact replacement for my specific model but it is NOT! And given the price difference between these different offerings on Amazon is a dollar or two why would you buy a cheap version when it should last for a couple years or more? PS: to make you razor work better and the shaving block and foil last longer do this; keep a sprayer with 71% isopropyl alcohol in the bathroom. After shaving under your nose spray the foil with the alcohol. You will immediately hear the speed of the razor rise as the blade and foil ar now lubricated. This vastly extends the life of these two parts which, by design, are rubbing against each other. the alcohol will also disinfect the razor. Dead skin cells are a great breeding ground for bacteria so this is a really important consideration. The model I have came with an alcohol based bath with Braun formulated cartridges you needed to replace (at a cost) so this replicates that for almost free. remember rubbing alcohol should NOT be inhaled! And rubbing alcohol draws moisture out of your skin so use a moisturizer after the shave. You skin will look and feel better and in time (lol) you will look much better! (no joke there!)

I have had a Braun Series 5 razor for many years without replacing the blades and it wasn't giving as good of a shave anymore. I bought these blades to replace them and I noticed the difference right away. Just make sure you buy the right model, since it appears that the series 5 has changed designs over the years.
