I have a multi-pocket field vest for birding, but it offers no warmth on winter days, Problem solved with this field jacket. The side pockets are a bit shallower than I'd prefer, and the front pockets a bit deeper than I like. The liner adds considerably to the bulk and the warmth, but even without the liner (attached by inside buttons) it's quite satisfactory for cooler days. I'm about 5'5'' and the jacket size that usually works best for me is 37". This jacket is almost (but not) too tight around the chest when zipped up, but the length would look better on a taller person. I ordered this jacket and it was too small.I am 6" at 215 lbs and ordered an XXL.the euro or Chinese sizing is not the same as American sizing.when I got the first jacket,I was impressed about the quality.I contacted Transatlantic trading company via E-mail to find out how to return it.A lady by the name of Hayley promptly replied,gave me instructions and unfortunately I had to pay the US postal service $16.50 USD to return it to an address in New York.(glad it was not back to the UK!)I promptly got my refund and re-ordered it in a 4X (big).I did expect to have to wait again for a good week and a half but,it came Fedex in only 4 days!.Kudos to transatlantic and to Hayley!.I was very impressed about getting it so fast!. The new jacket fits really well and I like that it's 85% polyester.unlike other M-65's which are 100% cotton.it should be pretty rain and snow resistant for our northern Michigan winters.I wore it yesterday in 25 degree weather and it was warm.although,I will wear a hoodie sweatshirt(jumper)to layer it up so,make sure you order the correct size. I do have a couple of cons,first,cut the pot metal zipper pull off with wire cutters and replace it with a small split (key) ring and put a piece of paracord for the pull.I is made in china but,I guess they all are now.the sleeves are too long,so was my 1st M-65 anyway.I do wish that there was a wallet pocket inside the left breast like my original.side hand warmer pockets would be nice and,some stops on the bottom drawcord would be a nice touch. ... show more

I'm told its a very faithful adaptation of the classic field jacket. As such, it fits a little big so you can layer underneath it. But the quality is very nice and it looks great. My only wish is that they had tailored it a little narrower for modern tastes, considering most people who buy one aren't American soldiers deployed in the 1960s. ... show more

Sleeves are a little long but there are velcro straps to tighten it up. I'm guessing this thing was shipped from half way around the world, but I bought this and an expensive name brand jacket and I chose this one. The zipper is left handed as everyone has pointed out, but I knew that going into it. I'm simply using the buttons only. Or I will practice trying to use the zipper, but I failed miserably on day one. Don't make this a deal breaker, and if you're left handed, you'll love it. This is a nice looking great quality jacket at a reasonable price. I can't wait until it's cold enough to wear it. Don't hesitate to buy this jacket. Pros- fits and works as advertised, like slipping on a comfy sleeping bag/jacket. Love it. I had a need for a subdued urban pattern winter coat, and this fit the bill perfectly. Pattern was about 90% match Cons- M65 jackets are awesome, but older. Can contribute to your personal "homeless person" impression. Newer tech (ECWS, ECWSII, etc) will keep you warmer at lower temps but I sat in the cold rain on a mountainside for 3+ days and nights and this was a huge help. ... show more
