It supports your back and has two layers of straps to secure around your waist without the back strap loosening. CONS: The lower back support does not have much material, function or much anything to constitute back support. It’s very irritating on the skin due to the material, better over a shirt. Also it’s difficult to center on your spine. I don’t have major lower back problems nor am I diagnose with one. I’m average fit guy, 5’11” 170 pds who works out regularly. I assume the strap is suppose to be the back support. I do not recommend this to anyone with minor or chronic lower back pain and if you’re looking for some lower back support this is not it Don’t buy, I would return it if I could which is also odd ... show more

Best back brace I have ever owned. It's even comfortable to sit with, which is rare. The additional pull-straps on either side of the belt allow you to adjust the tightness even further, so you have many grip options depending on what you are doing when wearing the belt. If you need a looser grip when walking versus weight lifting, adjusting those additional straps may do the trick alone. If not, removing and readjusting the belt is easy. The velcro does not move or stretch. The belt holds secure. This brace is not too rigid, so it does not bite into your skin. Even when you are performing exercises or everyday activities that require bending or stooping. I love that about this belt. It blends superior function with reasonable comfort. Furthermore, if you are injured and need to wear it all day, the belt can easily be concealed under a shirt or sweater. It feels fine against bare skin, but I would not recommend going literal "bare back." Over a light t-shirt would keep it from chafing or soaking up sweat. Definitely gets you back into the action when you are hurt or sore. Definitely keeps you from accidentally hurting yourself when doing more strenuous things. Definitely a good weight-lifting belt. And--as a plus--it looks much cooler than those hard leather horse saddles some people wear in the gym. Not for power-lifting, though. If you have even a twinge of discomfort in your lower back, I recommend you give this belt a try. It has an amazing hold, is manufactured from high-quality materials, and is the most comfortable brace I have ever worn personally. Just be sure to order the correct size! ... show more

About a decade ago, I had a back fusion that has caused me intermittend problems. My lower back would tighten up and I would have pain severe enough that I could not walk or participate in activities. I tried many things, including TENS, hot cold, rxs, you name it. As a last ditch effort I ordered this lumbar brace to replace the surgical one(s) I had been using but were getting old. Immediately it eased some of my pain. Right out of the box (which was easy to open) I was able to understand the way the belt worked and the direction it should go on. This belt has (you can see fom the picture) extra bands to tighten (or loosen) the back to suit support and pain levels. I wore the belt resting and over my clothes. Wearing it over my clothes felt a little more supportive. Over time, the pain went away from wearing the belt, and when I forgot to wear it, it sure let me know I felt better putting it back on. Overall, I feel it is really healing me from these additional injuries and insults my back has had since surgery. Compared to other things I have tried, I feel this is the first thing I would use, and in conjunction with a topical pain spray, I have better pain control. I would say the belt cuts my overall pain in half. This is a full price paid review. [...]. I am happy to answer any questions about the product or my review. Had bought another support for my back from Amazon and it just did not work well - no real support, made me sweat (not good). Got this one and must say that it works wonderfully. I know some of the other reviews say its only for working out or for supporting your back while doing a task but I have used this while traveling as flights were causing me issue with my injured back. Wore it on the flight and during a trade show where standing is the killer for my back. Did a wonderful job of giving me the support I needed. Love the ability to adjust the back brace in multiple ways with the way this belt is designed. One minor issue. Had some "rubbing" from the belt and could not really see anything that would have caused it. Flipped the belt over and the part that was rubbing my skin in the initial position did not repeat the issue when the belt was flipped. Just a FYI. 1/20/2019 Update - I bought a second one of these after 1) using the stuffing out of the first one and 2) losing weight to I had to get the next size down. Have had the second one for about 6 months now and like the first one it has proven invaluable to the happiness of my lumbar. Using this one for travel, trade shows or for those days when I need some additional support for my back. Would definitely recommend and purchase again if I ever wear this one out. ... show more

For whatever reason, I pulled a back muscle. that just won't go away. Usually when this happens, I go to my chiropractor, and it gets worked out, by one or two adjustments. But this muscle pull, is completely different, as it is just the lower right portion of my back. It is soo brutal, that I can't even walk, without causing back spasms. I even tried Lidocaine patches. But, when I put this brace on, after about the first hour, the spasms went away. I wore it for nine hours at work, and it kept the pain and spasms at bay. About 15 minutes after I took it off to go to bed, the spasms started back up, but not as intense. This is my second day to wear it at work, and right now, I have no pain or spasms. So, it does work!! ... show more
