Decided it was time to up my ironing game after 20 years on a trusty (and now rusty!) Ikea ironing board. I had no idea how much this thing would revolutionize my life. Super steady and extremely well made. Tried another comparably priced board first which ended up not only being super wobbly but the quality paled in comparison of this one. Others mention they didn’t like the cover but I find it to be perfectly padded. Very happy with the purchase.

I owned a Brabentia wide ironing board 20 years ago, loved using it (as weird as that sounds), and then “lost” it during a divorce... and I’ve longed for one ever since. These are so much nicer than any other ironing board out there. My new ironing board arrived today, and it’s just as sturdy and as well made as the one I used to have, which is so nice, since many companies seem to be downgrading their build quality these days. My ironing board was MADE IN LATVIA (not made in China, like nearly all the cheaply built ones you find from the discount/big box stores). And it’s incredibly sturdy. It doesn’t wobble or shift as you use it. The rack underneath the board is removable, but I‘ll keep it attached since it’s very handy to use for items waiting to be ironed/folded items that have been ironed, for holding a basket of hangers, for holding tailor’s hams or wool pressing mats, or if you have a steam generator for an iron, as long as the generator weighs less than 5 pounds or so. The rack is quite sturdy, and the iron rest is also sturdy and stable, with an adjustable arm to help secure your iron. The ironing surface is wider and a bit shorter than ones found on standard boards, so it’s easier and faster to iron linens and fabrics for quilting and sewing. But it’s not too wide for ironing clothing, and the small amount of board length lost poses no issues, really. This is a perfect proportion, in my opinion. If you’ve only had a narrow “standard” ironing board before, it might take some getting used to, but after using one of these a couple times, I doubt you’ll ever want to go back to a narrow one! There’s really no reason to want to. I also like that the board adjusts to a taller height than my old one, which is easier on my arthritic neck and back, but it can also be adjusted lower, to be used from a seated position (I’m disabled, so this was important to me to have the option). And it doesn’t squeak at all (some are like nails on a chalkboard!) when you open or close it. This is so much more stable than a more narrow board with the same style legs, and 1,000 times more stable than all of those T-leg boards out there! I plan to keep mine set up most of the time, but will mount a wall holder for those times when I need to put it away. The ironing board comes with a 10-year warranty and registration instructions (so save the printed card and large card stock insert with product info, since your barcode for registration is there). I do not work for this company or for Amazon (or for any company, since I’m disabled and unable to work, lol) and I am not being paid or provided with any other consideration in exchange for this review. I’m writing this because I find reviews to be helpful to me when making decisions, and I would like to help others, as well. I tend to overthink things, and am a bit of a perfectionist, so I tend to look for what is “wrong” with things, and if anything wasn’t perfect about this, I’d mention it (I’m whiney like that lol). It wasn't easy to spend big bucks on an ironing board, but I'm glad I went for it. I like ironing with this (!) The top is so broad that I can iron everything much faster than constantly shifting on a smaller board. Probably not ideal for a small house or apartment, but if you have the space to store this, it's amazing.

So a while back I got a different, ugly, orange ironing board that was supposed to be great. It was heavy and had feet that stuck out and I hurt my toe every stinking time. I almost always had to ask my husband to help get it to its full height. Ugh. It was over a100 bucks so I just kept on. Well he pushed me to get a new one, but I thought they would all stink. Well. They don’t all stink. I had to tell my husband he was right. LOL. About an ironing board. Irony? *This one is quite a bit lighter than that ugly gray and orange one, but it is just as sturdy. *This one is just as TALL as that one. In fact, I can open it up to its full height anytime I want to, all by mysel! Freedom! I am 5’9”, so shorties just won’t cut it for me. This guy delivers for me! I can iron without having an aching back, well, as fast. Haha. *This one is a little smaller than that ugly orange one. This is good, because I am small. I weigh a buck and quarter most of the time, with a small frame. I had trouble carrying around an ironing board that weighed the same. (Full disclosure: it didn’t really, just felt like it) *This one pops right up and stays up. Closes when you press the release. *This one has a rack at the bottom that I don’t use but it is there, baby! That ugly orange one lacked the rack! *This one has an iron rest and the ugly one did too. BUT this one has a button you push that makes a bar move and actually makes the iron rest useful to people like me that have a regular Rowenta iron! I have no idea what was supposed to work in the other one.
