I live off grid and in an RV. Maximizing effectiveness while reducing required resources is a big focus in my life. The Lift-O-Matic was a fantastic purchase. This unit replaced a small apartment dryer I was using. The drawbacks with tiny electric apartment dryers are that they take forever to dry clothes completely, and if you have lots of laundry, are going to need to run nearly all day due to small load capacity. That can be a fire hazard and definitely eats up electricity. Plus the sound and heat are annoying. This rotary dryer is nearly perfect for my lifestyle. No electricity needed. Set it and forget it. Clothes smell better, last longer, and are sanitized via UV light. You’ll need to learn how your clothes are sewn to hang them properly, keep them wrinkle free, and reduce sun fading (for colors). The laundry capacity of this thing is enormous. I can wash everything I own, from clothes to sheets to towels, early in the day, back to back, then I can do whatever else I want the rest of the day as they dry. Huge timesaver. Another reviewer recommended using Kevin’s Quality Clothespins with this and I do too. Don’t stress about things falling or blowing away. I use a a manual hand-crank washer to keep my total water use under 10 gallons for a once-a-week load. I have rocky soil like others here. I just dug the hole to the size I needed, placed the spike, filled rocks around it, then put soil back in last. Stepped on the soil to squish air gaps, then watered it to settle the soil further. Have patience and let it fully dry before use. Works fine. A level is definitely recommended. The unit itself is high quality. I got the green color, which is an attractive hue. I live in the wild and it blends in nicely. Part of me wishes it was slightly taller, but if it was it couldn’t fit in my RV when folded up. Yes, it actually fits folded up in my RV for storage when not in use. I don’t leave it out when not in use and I expect it will last for years to come. This thing is as efficient as it gets.

Been using this for a few weeks now. It's ok, but not quite as brilliant as I might have expected reading other reviews. It's not as sturdy as I had hoped. You need to balance the weight of the laundry on all sides to keep it from leaning. It's also a bit difficult to stretch out the line fully as the entire dryer tends to slip out of it's socket in the ground spike when you push hard upwards. It does fold out and up easily and the cover works very well. The dryer is relatively portable and not too heavy. Just hope it holds up over time. I am adding a star to my review after three weeks of use. My puppy ate the red plastic cover on the ground spike last week. The Amazon Brabantia store only has replacements for the entire ground spike which seemed wasteful of materials, money and time. Poking around online, I found the Brabantia Europe website that offers a wide range of minor replacement parts at reasonable prices. I ordered two replacement covers on Sunday and they arrived on Wednesday. Shipping was free. It was a nice change of pace from the typical throw-away culture encouraged by so many manufacturers these days.

So I guess I held on to my old clothesline for a long, long time or else I just completely hit the jackpot buying this one but I cannot say enough about how fantastic this is. I have health issues and struggled raising and lowering my last one, but this one is effortless. This clothesline will stop at whatever height you want so no more reaching for the clothesline or getting smacked in the face. It holds a ton of clothes and it's so easy to put up and down that you really won't mind closing it in between uses. For a Florida person, that means no mildew or rot. Line is strung when you get it so the work is done other than getting the base into the ground (and be prepared to bang on it for a bit, and definitely level it!). Spend the money. Then you can stop spending it on the dryer because you'll actually want to run outside and use this every time you get the chance.

Super happy with my “Solar and wind powered clothes dryer!” I gave it 4🌟on easy to set up only because it can be a pain I the butt to get the stake into hard ground like mine. Dry and rocky but the post is secure now without concrete and has held up well to several heavy loads of towels and sheets. I’m sure it will pay for itself soon! Super easy to put up and take down. I like that the arms have little guides in them for the long lines. Don’t settle for NOT having that as that was my old one and it caught the lines and wore on them as well as making the open/close much harder. Came with an attached wrap for securing the lines when closed before you put the provided cover on it. (Yes! You get a nice zippered cover!!!! ) I hang my red ground cap on the secure strap when it is open so I don’t loose it! It is notch on the red cap and it fits perfectly. Good design detail. Anyhow. Just buy it if you are thinking about it. I’m a short 5’3 and it is no problem to reach lines if that is a concern to short gals like me. Update on 9/25/22 Been using this all month and LOVE it! I wish I had purchased sooner in the summer as fall is now here and Michigan winter is around the corner. I thought I should say that I take this in and out of my garage so it is not left up on a continual basis and it has held up to that. Even the cover! I’m sure at some point I will have to replace the cover which keeps the lines clean and from catching on anything as I take it in and out. Also makes mowing less of a hassle to not have to maneuver around a permanent post in the yard. Bottom line! If you love the smell and feel of line dried clothes towels and sheets, just buy it. If not, you can soften them up in the dryer a bit and still save money on electricity. I consider that I pay myself to do the work instead of paying the electric company!!!
