Just received this jacket today. Wow, what a jacket ! It is very well made and will be nice and warm. The major thing it fits. I am 6’4” 250. Normally I wear a 2X Tall. I ordered a 3X Tall, to be able to wear a heavy flannel shirt underneath. There will be no problem. I had originally ordered a perma loft jacket same size from LL Bean and had to return it. Even with just a T-shirt underneath the zipper barely closed and forget about being able to move my arms, very tight. This jacket is true to size and $100 cheaper. The construction is very good, detachable hood, storm cuffs, wind/rain resistant and very soft lining inside. If you’re a size like me and not some skinny male model, don’t be afraid about ordering it. It looks very good when worn. It will keep you warm without being bulky. My father is a big man and he has to have big and tall clothes because they don't really have his size in many stores anymore. He has alot of health problems and needed a jacket and somehow I came across this. OK so, if you're a big man and need a great jacket...this is it. I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm not a paid reviewer or anything. This is my honest opinion. You can't go wrong with this jacket. It's very thick for winter, it has lots and lots of pockets, very comfortable, and very warm. Water resistant too so if it gets wet, you're still dry. I was hesitant to buy this because the pictures make it look like cheap thin windbreaker material but it's really thick and warm. Also very well made. I know it's hard to believe most reviews but I promise you will be absolutely as surprised as I was when this comes in the mail. ... show more

    • A good lightweight winter coat
I purchased the Expedition Parka Coat (olive) and I think it is a good-looking coat. Seems well-made. Snappable flap covering the zipper is nice. Snappable pockets are good, and the small vest pocket is nice. Velcro around the wrists works fine. Bottom of the coat cannot be cinched up, but there is a snap at the bottom. The lining is extremely soft, and it is very comfortable wearing this coat. Very easy to move around while wearing it too. I’m a lanky 6’5” and the X-Large Tall fit perfectly in terms of overall size, overall length and sleeve length. I wear 17.5-18 collar and I could not zip this coat up all the way to my chin, nor could I Velcro shut the neck flap-- way too tight around the neck for that. The neck flap still covers the majority of the neck--there is just a gap in the very front. The hood did fit over my head, however unless I am missing something, the tightening mechanism doesn’t seem to be locking in place after cinching it up. I believe the cinch should only slide if its button is pressed in, but it slides without having to press the button. So the hood might not stay in place in extremely windy conditions. May have to use a balaclava and a hat for head and neck protection under extreme conditions. It has a nice lining that seems to provide good warmth. However, those of us in Michigan and Wisconsin and the like will consider this to be a light winter jacket. It is not very thick. If you go out to snowblow the driveway in 5 degree temps with 20mph winds I feel pretty certain you will want multiple layers-- including a thick sweatshirt-- underneath this coat. With the way this fits me I think there is enough room that, but you may want to consider ordering a size up to be safe... So this is a very nice winter coat for mild conditions. I’ll have to see once how it handles extreme conditions with the addition of a sweatshirt and a balaclava. And see how it handles wear and tear over time. But overall I like it, especially the look and comfort of it. ... show more

This is an EXCELLENT winter coat, able to withstand our Minnesota winters --which can sometimes feel like living on the moon for 5 months--and keep me toasty warm. The fleece lining makes all the difference. This is the second Boulder Creek coat I have owned. After 6 years the first one was starting to look a bit ratty, so I got another one.. I am 5' 11", 240 lbs, so I got the 2X extra large (Big 2XL, not the tall 2XL), and it fits perfectly. The sleeves come down to about halfway between my wrist and knuckles, just the way I like it, and leaves enough room for layers underneath if I so choose without being too tight. It comes down to about mid-thigh or so, a nice coat length. It has plenty of pockets, including that invaluable inside breast pocket, and is much warmer than you might expect from a parka this lightweight. Being soft and lightweight, it doesn't constrict your movement much either. It has kept me warmer than ANY coat I have ever owned, ALL winter long. No piercing winds get through, none of those late-night or early morning frigid temps get to me while waiting for the car to warm-up, it will seal you up from the bitterness nice and cozy. and although I do not think it is waterproof, I have never once in 6 years gotten wet inside it. In the dead of winter, when I combine this coat with a couple cotton layers underneath (a long t-shirt and a light sweater) with my Sorel's, a scarf, good gloves and a rabbit fur trappers hat, there were times that I found myself even getting a bit warm, even in night time, subzero temps. It is a soft, light, cozy-warm parka. It looks great, feels even better, and the price is right. don't hesitate, it's a great coat. ... show more
