  • Great pedal but may need to try on board.
The Boss DD-500 is a great pedal with so many options and flexibility. My very first digital delay pedal was a Boss DD5 which I still have on my board. My main reason for upgrading to the DD-500 was to have the option of saving patches and presets into banks. [Please note that some of the pros and cons are my own personal experience and understanding of the pedal.] Pros: Lots of control over all delay options. Has an easy user interface. Great delay responses. Cons: User interface was not what I particularly am use to. Though I found it easy to jump into, it wasn’t exactly my way of interacting with the device. The slanted bypass switches posed the biggest problem for me. It was hard to position the pedal on the back row of my board where I usually keep all my time based wet affects behind pedals like my rat (which is a bit taller in general). This has nothing to do with performance but I have a strymon big sky and the boss DD-500 not lining up with it bothers me. The strymon switches go straight up while the dd-500 slants towards me. Other than those points which mainly have to with my preference, the pedal is great! ... show more

  • use the DD-500 editor on your computer to make and name your patches
I'm strictly a basement player and primarily jam along to youtube tracks of Iron maiden, U2, metallica, and Pink floyd. This unit allows me to dial in 100s of different delays then save them in easy to find patches. Connect the pedal to your computer with a USB cable and edit your patches with the DD-500 editor. It is much easier to leave the pedal on the floor and edit all of the parameters with the editor. Alternatively yo could use the small screen on the unit and fiddle with knobs and dials to menu dive. It is much easier and intuitive to edit with the program which can be downloaded from bosses support site. The Dual delay function is great for U2 (steets have no name etc, ) and Pink Floyd (run like hell, another brick in the wall etc) Where this unit really shines is in setting up and accessing different patches. Some songs like another brick in the wall Parts one and 2, or echoes have different delays used in different parts of the song. This unit allows me to create patches ahead of time name them in the editor and save them. It is then easy to switch from one to another while playing. In a live situation the tap tempo can be used to alter the delay time to match the actual tempo set by a drummer. I loved the sounds I could dial in with my from my old delay pedal, but I would have needed at least four of them, now I can immediately access hundreds of presets on the go with just one pedal. ... show more

  • Awesome sound and flexibility
I play every weekend in our Church band. I used to have various delay pedals to accommodate all the various songs at different bpm and delay types. I used to have to bend down to make changes between songs and sometimes just had to make it sound okay. Since I got this Boss DD-500, I can now customize each preset to the song and some songs have 2 or 3 delay settings. This pedal has been a blessing to not worry about the settings or tapping in the beat. The different delay options have made my sound so much better that I get compliments from the sound guys and others. Well worth the money spent. ... show more

  • Amazing
Boss has done a great job with this one. I love being able to program and save all the different delay sounds I switch between. It's not hard to figure it out and once you do the controls are super intuitive. Switching patches is super easy as well as saving ones that you've dialed in on the fly. The amount of options on this thing is staggering. For me one of the big selling points of this pedal was the fact that it can emulate a lot of the classic Boss/Roland delay pedals as well as some new ones. You get the Space Echo, DM-2/3, DD-2, and the Tera Echo all in one box. It also features some other non-Boss delays like an Echoplex. On top of that you can pretty much dial in any delay setting you want with the vast array of EQ settings available on each delay type. I think for $150 less than a Strymon Timeline this is the better option even if it can't do some things that the Timeline does. My only negative comment is that it does not come with a power supply. ... show more

  • Endless possibilities
Great sounds out of the box. Use the editor software on a computer to dial in exactly what you’re looking for. The angled buttons aren’t great at the back row of the pedalboard, but it’s fine up front.

  • This is fantastic digital delay
This is fantastic digital delay. The sound quality is awesome and the flexibility is astounding. Many ways to control it. I highly recommend using some MIDI switching device - it makes it even more usable. What I really love about the pedal is you can use it with a momentary bypass type pedal, and the on/off produces no noise of any kind, which is a big plus. You bring it in and out of your sound chain without any noise. Awesome! ... show more

Killer delay, great sound and comes on time I only gave 4 stars cause it doesn't come with power supply, if you are thinking to buy it, you have to consider buying a power supply. For everythings else, excellent.
