It's an amp. Takes an audio signal and makes speakers go brrr. It sounds completely fine, and as other reviews say, it will need a ground loop isolator to remove some of the noise, however there's a background hiss present. While driving I'm sure it's not audible. However, I found out that my head unit could drive my speakers perfectly fine without the amp, so I decided to return the amp. For whatever reason, Amazon tells me the item is not returnable. When I called them, the rep just said "we'll refund you and you keep it" which is absolutely mind boggling to me. I'd make sure you need an amp before ordering it, and I probably should've, but I don't know what's going on there. Not everyone might get a caution to the wind rep like mine. ... show more

    • Boss quality at a remarkable price
I've had Boss equipment my whole adult life: guitar effect pedals, MIDI equipment etc.. I paid a little extra however it would consistently outperform it's competitors. Frankly I bought this because my car system was on a budget, it's the best amplifier I've ever had. Plenty of power. I was expecting to have to mess with filters and transformers to eliminate noise in my 1968 Plymouth, especially from the alternator. Lo and behold NONE! Use top quality cords, I used a 10 foot Rica tipped 6 in one. Ground it well, Spend a little extra on speakers you'll love the sound. ... show more

Not fully working. I tried various scenarios with the setup but I could not get the RCA inputs for channels 3 and 4 to work. Only channels 1 and 2 worked. I saw the reviews that mentioned there was noise and hum coming through the speakers, so I went on ahead and ordered a ground loop idolator which indeed removed the sound. However, it was only for channels 1/2. I tried using the high level input wiring for channels 3/4 and it worked. But that introduced the extra noise through those speakers. Since I didn't have anything to remove the noise for those channels, I just disconnected it and just rewired the rear speakers directly to the radio bypassing the amp. Therefore only the front speakers are using the amp. As I am only able to use two channels on this 4 channel amp, I could've just purchased a 2 channel amp and saved money. Because I went through so much trouble to setup and accommodate for this amp, I just decided to keep it and live with only the front speakers being amplified. Overall, I am benefiting with the sound being better than what it was, but it's still not like it should be if the RCA inputs for channels 3 and 4 were working like it should. I feel a bit cheated. If no one can tell me or make me aware of something I may be missing in the connections or something that I may be doing wrong for the RCA plugs for channels 3 and 4 not working, I'm quite disappointed with this purchase. ... show more

I wanted a decent brand but am such a cheap a$$. Has more channels than I need but I run a 8 inch sub on 2 of the channels. She hits hard in my little old jeep. Just wish I had a better head unit and front speakers. Solid amp. My jeep has no top so it's been rained on a couple of times under my seat it has a little protection. Also I live in hawaii so the air is salty, and a year later she still works perfectly. ... show more

I added this amplifier to my 99 Jeep TJ which has after market speakers that needed a little more power. The one issue I had was that the amp picked up engine noise so I had to buy a ground loop idolater which was only $12 and plugs into the RCA cables, 2 second install that took away the distortion. I would have went with a higher quality amp but with an old jeep that I drive around with the doors off, I didn’t want to invest in something expensive that might end up getting stolen.
