It's an amp. Takes an audio signal and makes speakers go brrr. It sounds completely fine, and as other reviews say, it will need a ground loop isolator to remove some of the noise, however there's a background hiss present. While driving I'm sure it's not audible. However, I found out that my head unit could drive my speakers perfectly fine without the amp, so I decided to return the amp. For whatever reason, Amazon tells me the item is not returnable. When I called them, the rep just said "we'll refund you and you keep it" which is absolutely mind boggling to me. I'd make sure you need an amp before ordering it, and I probably should've, but I don't know what's going on there. Not everyone might get a caution to the wind rep like mine. ... show more

I purchased this as a replacement for the same unit that I inadvertently fried while troubleshooting another issue I had with my stereo. I was very happy with this amp running my tweeters and full range dash 3.5 coaxials. Just the right amount of clean power at a price point others couldn't match. I am running this 4 channel amp, another much larger 4 channel amp and a really powerful monoblock amp for the low end going through two dsp EQ's and then a true bandpass three way electronic crossover all except the dsp's, BOSS products. I added this amplifier to my 99 Jeep TJ which has after market speakers that needed a little more power. The one issue I had was that the amp picked up engine noise so I had to buy a ground loop idolater which was only $12 and plugs into the RCA cables, 2 second install that took away the distortion. I would have went with a higher quality amp but with an old jeep that I drive around with the doors off, I didnโ€™t want to invest in something expensive that might end up getting stolen. Purchased this amp to push two saddlebag lid 6x9's and 2 boss audio handlebar speakers. Already had BOSS Audio Systems MC900B 500 watt Bluetooth 4 channel handle bar with lighted Remote it just didn't have enough to push the 6x9's . Cut 1/4 inch black plexiglass and mounted both amps then wired it all into deutsch plugs so it can all be easily removed .used longer screws and nuts on the saddlebag latches to mount the plexiglass . It sounds amazing it is obnoxiously Loud at standstill when riding at 70 you can clearly hear the music. Only have gain quarter way on handlebar speakers and almost half on 6x9's. would not play music unless engine is running probably drain battery pretty quickly. 100% would recommend. ... show more

This unit is clearly not intended to push anything more than a few door speakers. So many people having issues with the amp, and it appears that many of them are using it incorrectly. This is not meant to be bridged and used to power a subwoofer. It is intended to be used to give your door speakers a little boost over the stock amp in your head unit. I also read a lot of reviews about there being a lot of engine noise. I had this issue as well. A couple of things usually cause this issue: 1) A bad ground, causing the head unit to send a bad signal to the amp (tested this by hooking up my phone directly to the amp, and getting no interference) - can also occur if the head unit is cheap, a.k.a "Dual". 2) Gain set too high I fixed these issues by setting my gain just low enough that I couldn't hear any more engine whine, and by installing an in-line ground loop isolator. After that, it was all about setting up my head unit to put out as much sound as I could get it to. Once I got everything set up, and replaced my cheapo Dual head unit with a Pioneer, I was able to tune the sound to get the amp to push my door speakers as loud as it could. To avoid distortion, I used the crossover setting in my head unit to take out all the bass from the door speakers. I have two 12s in the back that easily fill this lack of bass in, giving me a really good and loud sounding setup. I couldn't be happier, so long as the amp lasts. Don't expect this thing to be the best amp you'll ever buy. It isn't. But, for the price, it's a fantastic option to get more out of your aftermarket door speakers. ... show more
