  • Very good overall, highly recommended
I have been using this stereo for about 2 months, its been a mostly smooth and problem free experience. The touch screen is responsive, crisp resolution (1024x600), brightness during the day and night is totally acceptable. (I turned the night brightness down all the way, and daytime to 80%). Sound quality is excellent over wifi, the UI is responsive and the android auto wifi connection is pretty solid. I have rockford fosgate component speakers and an alpine sub/amp hooked up to this. Lots of audio settings on this stereo. The included microphone is perfectly suitable for calls in a moving vehicle. People report that my voice sounds a bit quiet, but is very legible without background noise. Once in a while the playback drops for a split second when passing semi trucks, which must be due to some kind of interference. Its reliable enough overall that it isn't an issue, even in traffic. I upgraded to a bigger wifi antenna for a better connection, it uses SMA connector antennas. I have only had one instance of the stereo freezing, requiring me to turn my vehicle off and back on, but just one instance in 2 months doesnt seem that problematic to me. All the major issues others describe sound like issues with poorly made wiring harnesses and intermittent/bad connections. I soldered and heat shrunk my wiring harness. I would highly recommend this for any stereo install, you do it once and dont worry about it again for the life of the vehicle. I was worried about the Boss brand before buying this, but it's honestly better than the android auto factory stereo in the 2024 tacoma TRD I rented recently. Disable the boot EULA screen in the settings for a faster startup. ... show more

  • If you want less aggravation in your life do not buy
I’ve only had it installed for a couple days. Not sure why but occasionally I get a black screen. Might be something I’m doing on start up but still checking. 2013 Jeep Wrangler When connecting with a crutch field adapter, be sure to connect the front speakers of the deck to the rear input wires of the adapter or you won’t hear anyone when they phone. The Boss deck only uses front speakers for voice on phone calls and the adapter only uses rear inputs for sound. So if you notice your phone connects but you can’t hear anyone, reverse the speaker front to back and back to front. Connect white deck wiring to green and grey deck to purple. You may not even need to connect any rear speaker outputs as my car/adapter doesn’t use them anyway. Update (1-1/2 weeks in) Still continue to have black screen issues, I believe it’s connected to the Apple CarPlay. It will randomly go black and you can’t control or bring it back without shutting your vehicle off. Oct 31 Deck keeps changing from stereo to mono on its own. Bluetooth says it’s connected but no one can hear me. Apple car play causes black screen and shows connected but they can hear me but I can’t hear them…. This doesn’t happen every time but I’d say 8 out of 10 this happens… it only works correctly about 5 % of the time…. Terrible deck Update Dec 2023 Boss send me a new deck after I had to pay the shipping $30us although the deck is slightly better, it still goes to a black screen but I can wake it back up…. All the other problems still exist… 2 stereo with the same issue.? Not likely, terrible quality ... show more

  • Works fine
Bought this mostly on price point. Boss doesn’t have the best reputation but after a couple months this has been working reasonably well and I’m pretty happy with it. The UI isn’t great and the support is even worse. I knew having a push button volume rather than rotary would get old and it did but overall I’d buy it again ... show more

  • Not ready for prime time! Freezes and Frustration w/ Android Auto
This is my third Boss stereo - the first two were wired Android Auto. I thought moving to Wireless would remove the headaches that I experienced with the first two, but whoa was i wrong! This thing is just as bad and introduces a whole new world of pain. Through all three of the receivers, I have used stock Google Pixel phones, the latest being a Pixel 7, which i would say largely removes the phone from the issues equation. I drive roughly 35k miles a year for my business and need a reliable means of hands-free mobile communication. Why I haven't moved on, I guess is a testament to my cheapness. With this unit in particular, I literally carry around a pin in my visor to reset the thing multiple times a day. While Android Auto is up and running, the buttons on this thing will freeze. My map is still active, so something is still alive inside this thing, but I have no ability to adjust the volume or interact with the screen. I always know this is happening because the person on the other end of the call will start getting quieter and they can barely hear me. I know there are a few other wonky things that it does, but this one is the most frequent - at least it doesn't squeal like a stuck pig like the last two did. Long story short, I have started a case with Boss. It doesn't appear that this unit is firmware upgradable, so I guess I'm stuck with its 'quirks'. Two stars, cause I guess it sometimes works and hasn't yet started on fire. Look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Worst Radio
Had connectivity issues with the radio. Contacted to seller and they sent another one. After one day in the heat the screen completely cracked. Worst $300 ever spent.

  • Screen is dim, the dim function stopped working after 4 days
I think theyt may have quality control issues. my unit had issues from the start with the missing installation manual.
