I didn't want to spend $1,200 on a radio with Android auto so i tried this and love it! I just wish it was Sirius ready. If you install this and the screen blinks when you turn it up your ground is not good enough. I used the factory harness ground and it blinked when i turned it up so i had to make my own ground to the body of my Tahoe with a thicker wire. Also, if you want to use Android auto or car play, and you have an older car, just ground the "park" wire and it will work fine. ... show more

I installed this setup myself in a 1990 Vw Vanagon . The install was fairly straightforward with good instructions provided . This was a huge upgrade from the old school CD player that it replace . Apple CarPlay works flawlessly, I haven’t been able to connect to the Android Auto on my wife’s phone but I haven’t given it much time as I primarily drive this vehicle. Navigate the interface is fairly straightforward even for a non tech person such as myself . For the price I paid ( I bought a certified refurbished unit ) I think it’s extremely good value . I especially like that it has a volume knob as most stereo’s of this style don’t . Some have complained about the brightness at night but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal since you can push on the time in the corner of the screen and it blacks out the screen. Where to begin... They claim 340 watts of power, not even close. The glare and reflections off the screen render it virtually unusable in daylight. The USB port only supports USB 2.0 which is like the Dark Ages in terms of speed. It has Apple and Android auto but only wired which pretty much makes your Bluetooth useless. The playback codecs are ancient... with very little support for newer codecs, I tried 4 others. The only videoe file I was able to play was an AVI file. There is no screen mirroring for your phone. I sent mine unit back for a refund. Much of this could be avoided with a hearty firmware update but no surprise, that's not possible either. ... show more

It wasn’t bad to install at all. I did get an adapter for the cables to match my Ford truck. I have been using about 3 weeks and once the display came up blank. Later I put the display back on and it worked fine after restarting my vehicle. The screen is dark in CarPlay but Indid find if I dim interior lights and jiggle the light knob the screen will go bright. I can’t say the problem is with the vehicle or the radio but read on. I would have rated it higher but I am fairly certain I was given a refurbished device. I say that because when connecting to carplay for the first time it brought up ‘Ken’s iPhone.’ I specifically ordered a new radio so I feel cheated out of money and I will always feel I have a buggy device because of it. I would return it but it isn’t worth the trouble and I’m sure the company counted on that in order to send a refurb. ... show more

This is my second purchase of one of these. Great replacement to update an old car. My 2004 Crown Vic Sport found a new life and a trip to Hot Rod Power Tour in 2023, now my 2012 Ford Focus has Apple / Android connectivity and a badly needed backup camera.

I used this System to replace a single DIN Sony that came in my new Forest River Class C RV. The "stock" (installed in a Ford E450 Cutaway at the RV manufacturer) had no Navigation and tiny buttons that were confusing to operate while tooling down the road in a 32' vehicle. The Boss system has a beautiful large touch screen and very easy to switch between functions. The Apple CarPlay feature gives me Navigation, SiriusXM, Spotify, and multiple other capabilities. I purchased a double USB extender for the dash and now I have easy access to plug in my phone and music USB's at the same time. The sound is very good for a lower priced system.
