Happy with the sound, great speaker! great sound, no need to go crazy expensive on speaker, I spend less than a $100, for 4 speaker. Sound great, buttong on radio small hard to see, harder to use I would suggest put less button, and bigger, some are useless for me I never listen the radio, only music of my choice CD or from my phone Bluetooth, The button are not great and response of them are not good either, if click for next track takes few second to happen, or just put CD in take a while to start,,,, Never happened before in cheaper stereo, I am shock for a Boss stereo, over-all I like the sound. Button, and time to get to next track, is a bit annoying, feel like something went wrong every time,,,, remote really has to be point at it to work, I drive a dodge van camper on back seat or bed way back of the van, hard to get to response. I hate all the jiggling lights on the screen,,, when driving at night very annoying, constant moving lights, I often have to put a small towel over the stereo or tape a piece of paper front of it,,,, it is a stereo, people at car stereo! Cut off the disco crap lights,,, need all my attention driving. Power button top left is very small and other useless are big,,, volume is big! great! can adjust sound bass, tone, and more with one button,,, love that button and no need to look at it to use it,,,, all other buttons, not like, except forward and back, make them simple and bigger,,, would be nice to have a light dimmer. Good little stereo. I bought it after the stock unit in my 98 Explorer gave out. The stock unit quit working while powered up one day, and I couldn't turn it off anymore! It was stuck on in medium high volume level with the local rock station tuned in. Drive Thru workers hated me! Nonetheless, it was time for a replacement. I wanted to spend more money on a "better" unit, but I had an emergency road trip come up and sorted by cheapest price/best reviews and found this unit in that list. I am so happy I got this unit. I wanted BlueTooth for hands free and music streaming and decent sound. BOSS audio has great sound, now I need new speakers!! Which are on my Christmas list, but budget, budget, budget... My HTC phone was easy to pair, music sounds decent through the BT. Music off a CD sounds even better but I expect some lossness over the wireless connection. People in phone calls can hear me fine. Sometimes they can be quite, but I attribute that to their phone as it doesn't happen to every phone call. Installation was easy with the correct mounting kit. The wiring harness for the 98 Ford Explorer was another story. I had the Mach System with an AMP in the back and had to fanagle that, but it is not the radios fault and the BOSS Audio 508UAB keeps its five stars from me. Great unit. Now I just need speakers... The picture was when I test fitted it. I didn't find much info on 98 Explorer radio installation (the 98 kind of had a one off system and three options that year, I'm like the fourth owner, and still poor) so I just took the dash apart and dove in. Any questions? Specifically about Explorer radio installation? Ask int he questions, I learned a lot on this one. ... show more

No, it most definitely did not meet my expectations. The exact opposite would be the case. Actually, I am way beyond disappointed. First, I ordered the unit and it arrived exactly on time, however no update was ever made to the tracking number so I was not able to track when it would arrive. Second, I installed the unit it 100% correctly according to the directions. The unit worked perfect for about a 1/2 hour and then out of nowhere no audio output was ever heard again. So, I contacted BOSS' tech support and their tech guy basically told me that the unit was defective and to contact Amazon for a replacement or refund. He also said that it was most likely a blown resistor as they had experienced this issue with other several of these units. I went online and requested a replacement from Amazon without issue. But again, there was never an update to the tracking number so I was not able to track when the replacement would arrive. It did arrive arrive on the day they said, however. Since the replacement unit was the exact same as the original, I was able to connect it to the original wiring harnesses. This time the replacement never produced any audio at all. This particular unit has a display on the front which serves as a VU meter to let you know it is producing an audio signal. This display, on both units, flashed with the beat of whatever song was playing but no sound was coming out of the speakers. I did detect, on the replacement unit, the smell of burnt electronic components. I've worked around audio equipment my whole life so I recognize that odor quite well. Needless to say, I am disappointed beyond words. In addition, my van has been in total disarray for what seems like an eternity because I can't put it back together with no unit to mount in the dashboard. This time I won't be asking for another replacement. I will only get a full refund and find a unit that works as it's supposed to work. The thing that attracted me to this unit was its price. But, as the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for!" Lesson learned, the hard way! ... show more
