I wondered if I would need a subwoofer, turns out the 900 has plenty of bass and is adjustable for conversation though I have not needed it even with my hearing aides. Its a quality product that is now at a great price since they introduced a newer model with auto conversation enhancer. I don’t know tha its worth the price difference as this one really does well all by itself. I have it in my living room, very sound active living room, about 16 feet away and no problems at all. Looks great as well and I have the white one which disappears when the lights are dimmed for TV viewing since it is painted black inside. ... show more

    • An Excellent upgrade to my TV Sound System

I already had a Bose Smartbar 300 so I was accustomed to working with the Bose app. Setting up the Smartbar 900 was easy. I am impressed with how the 900 improves the listening experience, especially on movie content. My 300 was surprisingly good but I felt the 900 could be better in my larger family room. It is. Turned up people in others parts of the house yell “turn it down.” I already had a Bose 500 base module and the combination shakes the room, as I observed playing the Jurassic Lunch clip from Jurassic Park. I don’t usually play at high volumes and I am not person who needs more base but this this set up is effective if desired. The current price on the Smartbar 900 makes this a good time to buy. This model has been replaced by a new model, the Smartbar 900 AI. Personally I didn’t see a benefit in paying $300.00 more for the new model. I am happy with my purchase. ... show more

    • Worst Soundbar I Have Ever Owned

I thought I would splurge and purchase a high quality soundbar with subwoofer, so I bought the Bose 900 system. Very easy install - but - very, very, very unstable. By career, I am a network technician, so I know technology inside and out in terms of connectivity and set up. Initially I set up with HDMI, high quality cable, to HDMI ARC out oof my Samsung smart, curved screen, 55" TV. For about 3 months it worked fine. Then the trouble started. The Bose remote, out of the blue, hijacked my TV, and it alone is thoroughly insufficient to use as a universal remote. I did a complete reset and reboot but then it would not produce sound through HDMI ARC. The only way I could get sound out was to set it to Bluetooth, but I had to futz with it every time I turned on the TV. Having to delay and go through the process every single time I turn on the TV. Then I pulled the HDMI cable and replaced it to no avail. Then I connected the optic cable and set the settings to automatically turn on when it sensed a signal from optical. This never worked, not once. I could only get sound out by going into sound settings - every time, and select optic. Very inconvenient. Then, I went away for 3 months, came home, installed yet another high quality HDMI (#3) cable, reset the system, updated the app and gave it another shot. It sort of worked for 2 weeks. Now I can't even turn it on and easily go to wifi settings. NOTHING IS EASY OR STRAIT FORWARD WITH THIS PRODUCT. I so regret not having returned it prior to the 3 month window.
