Move over every other bluetooth speaker in my house. As soon as I get these bills together, you're all getting replaced! The sound that comes out of this little beauty. I didn't know I needed Alexa to "start my day", but we are married now. This speaker is great at a low volume, but it really shines when I crank it up. I live in a townhouse with a shared wall so I keep it fairly low to be polite, but this thing gets really loud without compromising the quality of the sound. Right now I only have one speaker in my office. If I turn it up just a little bit higher, I can hear it in my bedroom the next room over crystal clear. The bass is beautiful without booming too hard. We purchased this speaker to replace one that I wore out (the bass started to break up). As soon as I set this unit up I was so pleased. The quality of the sound and the clarity of the bass and treble is fantastic. I had one problem in set up. I contacted Bose support. They were wonderful and took all the time necessary. As it turns out the problem was not with Bose, it was with my Apple phone. Note to future buyers - if the phone app does not work as supposed to shut down your phone and start over. The problem I had was my phone! I highly recommend the Bose speaker. One problem ... the speaker ability to play quality sounds at loud volumes far exceeds that which my wife allows me to play. The house walls shake when she is not home! ... show more

Almost gets it right. This speaker packs a great deal of punch and the famous Bose bass in its small footprint. Great looking device, very good integrated app (a must have - more on that in a bit), convenient preset features and the ability the stream a wide variety of sources with a goal of Alexa integration. Goal is the operative word - I’d say the Alexa feature works reliably maybe 60% of the time - and this is more than the run of the mill Alexa / voice integration getting it wrong - the Bose simply fails to respond to any voice command, pause, volume, stop, etc, without any rhyme or reason. Say it clearly, say it loudly, say it nearby, it doesn’t make a difference. To remedy this I need either force a change via hitting a preset, changing a station on the app, or even unplugging it. I have tried to do a system update but that hadn’t changed things. The device definitely integrates well with the other Alexa systems in my house and zones, is always available as an option via spotify (one of my main reasons to buy it) but just doesn’t listen. Just like a teenager. There also is a lag in volume after receiving and processing a command and then acting on it. Like the volume on a track stays at a 1 or 2 before resuming at a 4 or 5 while it thinks. Odd. On the plus, the Bose app works really well. Nicely lay out, pulls in multiple sources, and make the thing really work well. And perhaps most important is the famous Bose sound - it’s rich, full, bassy, room-filling, and totally satisfying. It’s a major upgrade from a standard Echo and makes for a great every day speaker. The sound and always available reliable Spotify connection was so good, that I bought the larger 500 for my office. Bottom line - great speaker, great sound, needs work on Alexa integration. ... show more

I hesitated on purchasing based a lot of the reviews, but I am so glad I decided to give it a try. The only con that I have found with this unit is that it is not portable. If Bose could combine the Home Speaker 300 with the portable features of the Revolve Soundlink, that would be an awesome product! Alexa works wonderfully. The Bose Music app is great, especially to control the volume. We use it mostly for streaming movies in the bedroom and it sounds just as good as our full entertainment system with multiple speakers and surround sound. We also use it when we travel. BT and WiFi Connections are easy and I was able to quickly connect to my favorite music streaming platforms through the app. Because it is Alexa enabled, it works flawlessly with my FireTV. I have NOT noticed any delay with the sound, even when watching action movies. The boom is powerful and I just love telling Alexa to ‘pause’ or ‘mute’ without moving a muscle. And finally, the footprint is small and compliments any decor. It’s small enough to easily move around, you just have to make sure there is an outlet nearby. Oh, and other reviewers indicated that it loses connectivity often, but as long as the speaker is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the device with the Bose Music app, I have not had to reconnect since the initial install. One more thing, the app allows you to easily connect to other Bose speakers (including Soundlink speakers) and create a group. ... show more

The Bose speaker is one best bluetooth and wifi speaker I have tried. The setup is easy with app no issue with wifi or updating the speaker. The Bluetooth turns on when its connected thru phone hooks up to spotify without issues so far it works great and the sound is fantastic. Compared to google speaker which pauses without no reason Bose has figured out. I would recommend this product above all others for the price. Keep in mind that wifi music does not normalize volume of your playlist which bluetooth uses the setting setup on your phone app which makes listening to music a pleasure. ... show more

I got this Bose speaker because I have had nothing but good experiences with Bose products, and was interested in a "smart" speaker. When I unboxed it and tried to set it up, it was *not* intuitive, and I ended up have having to do a hard reset in order for it to connect to my WiFi network. It was a frustrating experience, and I consider myself tech competent. I can't imagine how frustrating this would be for someone who didn't have a little troubleshooting experience. Once I got it working, it worked well with the Bose Music app...for about a day. I've had the speaker since the beginning of May and it works with the app every 3rd time, and with Alexa every 5th time. By that I mean I will go to the Bose Music app to choose a playlist, radio station, or podcast and it will say "product not available". This is not an issue with my WiFi, as all of our other products connected to WiFi have no issue. The only way to solve it is to unplug and plug it back in. It's gotten to the point where the "smart" part of the speaker is so inconsistent that I've started to use it almost exclusively as a bluetooth speaker...which is not why I bought it. If you want a great sounding bluetooth speaker, this will do. If you're looking for a "smart" speaker, look elsewhere. ... show more

The sound quality is a little better than Amazon's but not that much better for the price but it has nine buttons that can be set for you favorate stations and it has a get cell phone app for viewing stations and entertainers. The set up is hard because the speaker has alot to down load and you will think it is defective. There is a micro UBS on the bottom of the speaker that you can hook up to the computer and make download and set up faster. if you let the speaker do it on its own, it will take all day. You can find good documentation on Bose web site but you will not get it in the box. ... show more
