Good for kids, TERRIBLE for actual chalkboard users (obviously)
Size: 16 Count (Pack of 1)
I rated it five stars to bump this review. Of course, it being a $1 purchase, I didn’t expect much at all. For a child’s chalkboard, it’s cute and has lots of fun colors. They’re light so probably good for little hands. I’m a physics student, though, and I bought these to be silly on REAL seasoned chalkboards (not my wisest idea). College students are broke so I thought I’d test out some cheap colorful chalks to distribute so as to be Less Miserable. On an objective level, these are the worst quality chalk you can possibly purchase. They scratch real chalkboards, leave insane amounts of dust, and are brittle and fragile. Moreover, on certain types of chalkboards they will make a horrible screeching noise when written with, and on most surfaces, this stuff is IMPOSSIBLE to erase with a normal chalkboard eraser. The little dust pieces get into the scratches (see pic) and they’re there for a loooooong time. So if you’re like me and planning to actually use these in an academia setting, LOL DON’T

Great chalk for fun and creativity
Size: 16 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought this chalk set for my kids, and it’s been a hit! The colors are vibrant, and it’s perfect for drawing on sidewalks or chalkboards. It writes smoothly and washes off easily with water, which is a big plus for cleanup. However, the sticks are a bit fragile—they break easily if pressed too hard or dropped. Also, the box it came in wasn’t very sturdy and fell apart quickly. Despite these minor issues, the chalk is great for encouraging outdoor creativity. I’d buy it again, but I wish the packaging and durability were slightly better!

Better Suited for Craft Use Than Heavy Outdoor Sidewalk Drawing
Size: 16 Count (Pack of 1)
This Cra-Z-Art colored chalk set works reasonably well for lighter craft-style use, small chalkboards, or indoor creative projects, but it’s not really substantial enough for heavy outdoor sidewalk use in my opinion. The colors are decent, and the chalk applies smoothly enough for basic drawing and coloring applications where fine detail matters more than durability. The reason this isn’t a higher rating is partly due to shipping durability and partly due to expectations versus actual use. About half of the chalk pieces arrived broken, which was disappointing right out of the box. The chalk itself also feels smaller and more fragile than traditional sidewalk chalk, making it better suited for craft or light artistic use rather than rough outdoor play on concrete surfaces. The product is still usable, especially since broken chalk can continue to function for drawing and crafts, but the packaging protection and overall durability could definitely be improved.

Bright colors and fun, but dusty
Size: 16 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought this chalk set for my kids to use outside, and they absolutely love it! The colors are bright and vibrant, making their drawings really stand out on the driveway and sidewalk. The chalk is easy to hold and breaks less often than other brands I’ve tried. It washes away easily with water, which is a big plus. The only downside is that it creates a lot of dust, so be prepared for some cleanup after playtime. Overall, it’s a fun and affordable way to keep kids entertained outdoors, and I’d definitely recommend it!
