  • There are no better computer speakers on the market
There are no better computer speakers on the market. The Bose 20s are worth the $249. I've tried speakers from all price-categories (the cheapo-$50 ones the higher-quality Bose and Logitechs in the $100-150 range. These Bose 20s beat them all, and it's not close. These are a nice compliment to my Bose Soundtouch 30s for my home-office, which I use for general music-listening tapped off my iPad or iPhone (the Bose 30 is an awesome standalone system by the way). Back to the Bose 20s: the sound-output and quality is incredible considering that these are only a pair of speakers that take up very little room and do not have a separate subwoofer unit. I like the small rotating disk that allows volume-control. I have limited room for computer speakers because of my gear-setup. I installed small shelves above my monitors for these Bose 20s and they sound great. Whether you are listening to Beethoven, Black Sabbath, Slayer, or watching or listening (or both) to something work-related like a crime-scene video, a 911-call, a news report, a YouTube video, or gaming with Fight Night or Battlefield 4 (I do it all), these speakers won't let you down. When listening to a song by a band that has a great guitarist, bassist, and drummer, you can clearly distinguish between the players on these speakers. When listening to a stream that has background noise (like a news report where some fool is blabbing in the background), you clearly hear what the background-blabber is saying. Like any good speakers, the quality of the input-data is important, so the better the quality of the input, the better you will hear the output. Thus, for the best experience with these Bose 20s, if you are listening to an oldie but goodie, I recommend you upgrade to the remastered version. If you are watching/listening something on YouTube, look for the "HD" version of it. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Awesome quality! Bose please make computer speakers again.
I bought these speakers during the pandemic in 2020, and they have been an excellent choice. Not only are they durable, but the sound quality is exceptional. I really wish Bose would restart making dedicated computer speakers again, would gladly buy another pair for my office.

  • Well balanced sound at low levels.
I love everything about these speakers. The last 10 years or so, Bose has really come out with some nice products. Whatever algorithm they are using to calculate the amount of bass needed at low volumes, it is perfect! I can listen to these speakers at low levels and still feel like I'm getting a full soundstage. I am an audiophile, but sometimes you don't want accuracy; you want something that warms your ears. I'm perfectly comfortable with the choices Bose made in engineering these speakers, and they are everything I hoped they would be. I would describe the sound as a feast for the ears. My favorite thing, however, is the volume control. The touch and feel of the volume control absolutely wreaks of quality. The feel of the rubber ring, the weight of the control, the fact that it has headphone outputs, and inputs for my phone. But, I digress. You will enjoy these speakers. ... show more

  • Bought These As Studio Monitors - They're GREAT!
Wow! I can't believe how great these speakers sound. It was my original intent to buy a pair of 5" studio monitors for my 27" iMac. After looking around and reading some reviews I decided to give these a try. They are perfect to put on their side under the monitor so as not to take up an more space on the desktop. The sound is really rich with plenty of detail. Given that I am in an apartment, i haven't been able to turn them up very loud but they sound great even at low volumes. The other feature I really like is the volume and connection pod. It make for easy muting and the volume control is smooth and precise. I also use the pod to power my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80ohm headphones. It provides tons of gain for these power hungry headphones. ... show more

  • Very nice, need extension cable to put speakers very far apart.
Great sound, as expected from Bose. I like the little wheel for on/off and volume. I use these with Echo dot. I had to call Bose and order an extension speaker cable ($7) ; the one that comes with them will not let you put the speakers far enough apart to use in a room.

  • I love it, but the cords drive me crazy
I've had this for six months and I mainly use it for listening to classical music on my laptop at my desk. I love the sound quality. To my ear it's far more natural and richer in sound than my primary point of comparison, the Yamaha YAS-207BL soundbar that I use in my living room. My only complaint is how many cords there. I won't deduct stars for this, but before you buy, consider that there are FOUR cords: one connecting the R and L speakers, one to connect to your computer / player, one to connect the volume control device to the right speaker, and a power cord. They're all rather long cords, which may be nice if you have a large space, but for me, on my small desk, it creates clutter that I've never been able to manage successfully. So it looks terrible but I love the sound. ... show more

  • Great quality computer speakers
I will admit these are a bit over priced, but I wanted the cool volume control knob that I could place anywhere on my desk, not a volume knob on a speaker. I have seen that some find it annoying that they have an auto off feature that shuts off after 2 hours of no audio input signal. This feature can be turned on or off by holding the top touch control button for 6 seconds. I'm very happy with the sound quality, very clear, decent bass, and all the way max volume is very loud with no distortion whatsoever. Very happy this this purchase and I would do it again. ... show more

  • Not Worth The Price
Nice system but when tested side by side with my 7 year old Logitech 3 speaker system (less than $100) it lost. Bad. No question. The Bose system is quality but it can't compete with a subwoofer. Granted it's small (no subwoofer) so if you're really limited on space, maybe.
