    • Hand fatigue, powers out easily if under a load.
I wanted to give this product an honest review, and it's been 3 months now since I've got it. I like that it has variable speed and soft start. Ok now the dislikes. The paddle switch is just about the whole length of the tool. Hand gets tired after awhile. But there IS a lock button in the back. Now with this said, the housing for the motor is huge!! Which creates problems when the lock button is pressed, and with the switch being long and the housing being huge, your hand starts to become fatigue. Uncomfortable if grinding for long periods of time. Another dislike is the power....yeah I know it's a 13 amp motor, but try putting a 4_1/2 inch aluminum grinding wheel and grinding aluminum, you'll know what I'm talking about. I've always used Metabo grinders before and loved how much power they have. This Bosch grinder was an ok purchase, but my next grinder well be metabo. ... show more

I really liked my old Bosch 5" angle grinder so when it finally died after many years of abuse I ordered this more powerful model to replace it. My old grinder had a side mounted slide switch that I liked but I decided to give this paddle switch model a try. Unfortunately, once I had it in my hands and operated the tool I immediately hated everything about the design and function of this new paddle switch. It's very awkward to use requiring both hands to switch it on and engage the locking tab. When you touch any part of the paddle the wrong way while the tool is running it turns itself off. Since the paddle switch covers nearly the entire length and width of the bottom of the barrel of the tool this is a constant aggravation. This design is a product of the demands of the safety police and liability lawyers. Unfortunately it makes an otherwise quality tool essentially useless as far as I am concerned and I returned it immediately. Thank you Amazon! THIS IS ONLY MY OWN OPINION! I expect others may not hate this switch as I did. My only purpose for writing this is to suggest to others that they might want to actually get one of these tools in their hands before they buy one if they are not already familiar with this switch. I think there is a reason that you can't see the paddle switch in any of the photos of the tool. I give the switch zero stars and a full five stars for the quality and power of the rest of the tool. ... show more

This grinder has a lot of power at 13 amps, and the speed control is really nice as well. I intended to use this to make a small lathe and use the grinder as the motor. The long paddle switch on the handle made it difficult to do that but i Worked it out. Otherwise its an awesome tool for a lot less than the Dewalt. Glad I went with this brand / model!!!! ... show more

    • Great low price for a solid grinder (Polisher)
I bought this to finish off (Polish) an old piece of granite that has been sitting underneath a awning and being used as a small table top. It worked great and I loved that I could vary the speed, I was having some difficulty finding an affordable variable speed grinder. I have used this for about 8 hours so far and don't have any complaints about its performance. I would recommend this to anyone who "needs" another power tool sitting around for that odd job that pops up around the house. ... show more

Feb 2020: Preliminary review which I will update as I get more usage with the grinder. First impressions. Not sure how one can get variable speeds out of it other than on and off. The paddle switch presumably can do this bit the travel is so short that trying to hold the Paddel at say 20% travel, well good luck with that. The manual (once you get past the massive amount of safety warning waste of paper at the front) is well written and easy to follow. They strongly suggest a specific type of guard for using cut off wheels as those guards contain fragments of the cut off wheel breaks while in use as is prone to happen. Though FINDING said required guard is another matter. A long search at the Bosch site and decoding their numbering scheme reveals for the 5” grinder the correct cut off type 1 or 41/1A guard is 18CG-5E. Now try to find ANY place that has them in stock. No listings on amazon , other retailers out of stock. Safety is good but if the part cannot be sourced what’s the point Bosch? I imagine everyone just using the type 27 guard because the grinder came with it. ... show more

The Bosch GWS13-50VSP 5 In. Angle Grinder is built well and will cut and grind as advertised. You just have to buy the right wheels and saws. This doesn't come with a case or with wheels, so you have to do some research to find the correct wheels and saws that will safely fit on this tool. The power switch is a bit awkward but that's just my opinion. ... show more
