Features

  • The Bistro Burr Grinder consistently crushes beans between stainless steel conical burrs. This process also preserves the beans intrinsic flavor and aroma better than a blade grinder.
  • Push button, pre-set timer allows users to grind the exact amount of coffee needed, keeping beans fresh and preventing waste.
  • 12 Adjustable grind settings allow users to go from Espresso to French Press with ease.
  • Equipped with a friction clutch, which protects the grinding gear by the presence of small stones.
  • Always disconnect the electric burr grinder from the mains before cleaning. The grinding ring, coffee bean container and ground coffee container are removable for fuss-free cleaning. Brush the grinding ring with a soft brush, and use a damp cloth to wipe the coffee bean container and housing. The ground coffee container and lid are dishwasher safe.
  • Holds up to 7.75 Ounces of Coffee Beans.

  • I contacted Bodum customer service (not an easy process, no customer service phone number available
Size: 1 EA Color: Black
Worked well for a grinder that cost ~ $100 , while it worked. Fairly consistent grind and only needed cleaning every 2 months even though I normally use oily dark roasts. But finally the plastic retainer ring that holds the upper burr broke. It was not available for replacement on the Bodum site. I contacted Bodum customer service (not an easy process, no customer service phone number available, email only). I was told that I would have to check their website replacement parts page to see when the part would be available ( no option to backorder or be notified when the part would become available). Was also told that the inexpensive plastic retainer ring was not sold as a seperate part, but could only be purchased with the upper burr. I couldn't believe that one of the most likely to break inexpensive plastic pieces on a product that cost $100 was both unavailable and must be purchased as part of a more expensive piece. Needless to say I was disappointed and will not purchase any more products from this company. For those of you experiencing this same problem, I ended up repairing the part myself using J-B plastic bond and trimming excess bonding material to size with a sharp knife and sandpaper. Note: added extra bonding material to junction of the break at the end of both long edges where the tolerances are not as critical as the inner and outer edges. ... show more

  • Don't buy this good looking TOY--6 gm coffee per grind
Size: 1 EA Color: Black
On the Amazon web site I liked the "burr grinder" and the ("not slicing but crushing line") and the design looked great with large bean hopper, non-static borosilicate glass ground coffee receptical. I also liked the very quick next day delivery Amazon promised and which Amazon performed. It arrived and I set it up--very simple, looked good. Then I read the instructions--my paraphrase: "After 20 seconds of grinding (the maximum period) allow it to stand for 5 minutes so that the grinding motor will not overheat. Then you may grind again--up to a maximum of 20 seconds, etc." I set the machine to "fine" and selected "20 seconds." It ground 6 grams. I didn't believe it! I waited 5 minutes and did another 20 second grind. It produced 7 grams! I want a grinder which produces at least 60 grams for a breakfast brew, THIS MACHINE IS A TOY FOR DOLL COFFEE PARTIES, NOT A COFFEE GRINDER FOR HUMANS. I'm returning it today. Mike ... show more

  • Fine grinder if you can figure out how to clean it!
Size: 1 EA Color: Black
Grinds consistently and finely. It's easy to operate and fast. Two issues prevent it from being excellent. First, there are always coffee grinders that fall out of the machine after grinding and removing the glass cup. And static electricity builds up in the cup, which keeps some of the grounds on the side when you empty the cup. The only way I've found to fix the static electricity issue is to wait at least 10 minutes after grinding to remove the cup. Second, the instructions are very minimal and not helpful. After 7 months, my grinder stopped grinding. It would make a whirring sound but wouldn't grind. I looked in the instructions to find a fix and there was no trouble-shooting information. I was about to send it back to Bodum when I went on line and found a video that showed how to disassemble the machine and clean the clog. It turns out that grinding french roast, which is very oily, on a fine setting clogs the machine over time and you have to take it apart and clean the burr and the chute. I saw a great video online that recommended running 1/4 cup of rice through the machine regularly to clean it out. I cleaned out the chute with a thin bottle brush, tapped it gently against the sink to remove the remaining grinds, then ran rice through it. It works fine again. ... show more

  • BEWARE! Plastic gears between motor & burr
Size: 1 EA Color: Black
I will say that I loved the grinder while it worked. Consistent grinds, and the glass container was less static-y than some others I've used with plastic containers. After about 14 months (not even being used every day, maybe 5-6 grinds a week), one of the plastic drive gears broke. See my picture above. It started making a horrible noise, then bits of the gear fell out on to my counter. Bodum does not sell replacement parts, so in the trash it goes. I tried emailing their US support & they never responded. ... show more

  • Failed at 18 months
Size: 1 EA Color: Black
Beautiful styling and good performance - for 18 months, when the motor burned out, complete with smoke. While we only ran it for about 30 seconds at a time, I recall it had a ridiculously short duty cycle, with a 5 minute cool down requirement. Sounds like marginal design at best. Caveat emptor! Replaced it with a Baratza Encore, which isn't as flashy but is much better built, and has motor thermal protection. ... show more

  • Surface became gummy sticky after years
Size: 12-Inch Color: Red
I bought it about 6 years ago. As a grinder, it's very good. My biggest compliant is the rubberized body. After like 2 or 3 years, it became sticky. It's hard to clean and using water will not remove the sticky feel. I tried Lysol wipes, didn't help. I now avoid touching the body as I only need to operate the cup, the lid and the switches. I don't know if they have changed the body material now, if not, they'd better change it. ... show more

Size: 1 EA Color: Black
Purchased July of 2013, didn't even last for 2 yrs. Main drive gear shattered, see image. All drive gears are plastic when they should be metal,(preferably high quality metal !), especially for an appliance that costs over $100. Operated for 10 seconds per day x 610 days equates to ONLY 1.69 total hours of use. Corporate greed strikes again. ... show more

  • Great at first, then useless.
Size: 1 EA Color: Black
After a little over two year it was grinding at only 10% of original capacity, used once a day. Followed all the cleaning instructions. No improvement. Burrs maybe dull. So called Bodum and asked if I could buy replacement burr (which easily pops out as part of the cleaning process) they said they do not supply any operating parts. Period. I asked, ok so the burr is dull what do you do? The answer? Trash it and buy a new machine...... Advice I will follow, only it will not be a shoddy Bodum product. ... show more
