  • This Grinder is a Keeper.
Color: Black
Quite the package, very sturdy, well-built and quiet! Produces very little static cling given its built-in "plasma" antistatic generator. Significantly less static than my previous burr grinder, and way way quieter. The variable speed brushless motor and stepless adjustment with 83 mm burrs and minimal retention makes this grinder a winner! Customer support from miicoffee is quite knowledgeable as well. ... show more

  • Defective Grinder
Color: Black
Updated Review I was fully refunded for this product, so I reached out to Mii Coffee and will be purchasing it again. …… I bought this grinder for my daily espresso routine. I received it from Amazon and opened it a week later. After following the instructions to set it up, I found the dial to be extremely stiff. I had to use both hands and apply a lot of pressure to turn it. After about less than a week of use, it stopped working. When I tried to open the collar, even with my husband's help, it wouldn't budge. I was about to contact customer service, but seeing how stiff the dial and collar were, I started to suspect a defect. After watching YouTube videos where people seemed to adjust the dial effortlessly, I decided it was a faulty product and returned it. I encountered unexpected issues not mentioned in the manual, such as the extremely stiff dial and the malfunction after a short period of use. The refund date has been postponed twice, so I'm writing this review ahead of time. I'm currently waiting for a refund, but I'm worried about whether I'll get a full refund. If I do, I'd consider purchasing it again and would be happy to re-evaluate my review. ... show more

  • End game grinder for under $1K
Color: Black
There are two characteristics of this grinder that are unarguable advantages. First, it is incredibly fast. I use large espresso doses of 24 grams, and the 83V goes through this so fast it almost seems instantaneous. I suppose it is actually 2-3 seconds. I don't think that there is any grinder on the market anywhere near this price that is this fast. BTW, I am using the stock DLC burrs. Second, the grinder is just about as close to zero retention as possible. I still use the bellows mostly out of habit, but nothing much seems to come out--maybe just a nearly invisible cloud of fines. It suffers from only two relatively minor flaws. It is a little noisy. It often emits a kind of metallic rattle when I adjust the grind size. The grind itself is also loud, but it finishes so quickly I generally don't mind. Also, it can stall on 120v. In fact, my very first attempt at grinding stalled. As it turns out I was using a light roast at setting 15, which is a good starting point for the 64V, but not with this grinder. My espresso grinds fall between 20 for light roasts and 27 for dark roasts. Since I moved up to the appropriate grind range using hot starts I have experienced no further stalls. I don't know of any other grinder that I am even tempted to purchase. In principle, I would like to try the Option-O Lagom 01, but it is just too expensive and a little large for my kitchen space. I also find the Varia VS6 attractive but it is much slower than the 83V, and I am spoiled by that. The only grinder that would tempt me doesn't exist, at least not yet. I would love to have a version of this grinder with blind burrs, though blind burrs don't seem to be Turin's jam. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 11 days
Color: Black
I think the grinder is fantastic. I love the workflow and the minimal retention and the coffee I get out of my espresso machine (Vivaldi II). I think I am just unlucky and got a bad unit. First it stalled. Then it tripped my circuit breaker. Now it won't turn on. There are 2 power switches. One rocker switch which turns the overall grinder on and a second push button on/off toggle that rotates the burrs themselves. The light comes on for the power switch but there is no display on the RPM read out. When I press the grinder button to turn the grinder, the burrs do not rotate. I have contacted the manufacturer through Amazon and I have heard great things about Mii coffee so I am waiting to get this issue resolved. Amazon cannot do a direct replacement for me on this. If I run into trouble with Mii, I will just have to return the grinder and go elsewhere. I will update the review once I have resolved things with Mii ... show more

  • Meh. I've kept it. That's what's important.
Color: Black
After the first several months, I'm here to say, I like the grinder, but I don't love it. Honestly, it's just fine for the most part. I found over the last month, I've started to reach for the hand grinder again. Which then makes a boat load of static and I miss the DF83V. I also prefer the taste of the hand grinder, but, that's personal, I suppose. I got the DLC Espresso burrs for a Flair 58/Bambino combo. It really is just okay. It's easy to use and clean and reset the zero point on and all that. It's a very simple machine. I like it for that. Grind consistency, for me, seems to be an issue. You chase it around the dial quite a bit. The set screw doesn't always hold the zero point on the dial. The dial pointer is a sticker. The threaded font half doesn't come with a match mark to let you know it's full snug. It makes a weird screeching noise. I'm looking forward to changing the burrs to see if I can shift the profile to something I favor a little more. It's just an okay, everyday workhorse for home use. I can say bad things about it, but ultimately, I'm gonna use it. It's not terrible. Just has room for lots of little improvements. A decent value. But, I'd probably reach for something a little bit more expensive with the same but better features next time instead of trying to go to bottom of the upper-shelf. Just my .02. If it fits your budget like it did mine, you're not gonna hate it. If you can afford something better or really deep down want a conical--do that instead. ... show more
