fantastic difference in steering my kayak. can pretty much turn on a dime now. the install was not plug and play in my application. the clamps were too big and too small for my Minkota motor shaft. i had a piece of aluminum pool handle used for scooping leaves. add that to thicken the shaft, and it was a great, tight fit.

dont fit tight enough around shaft had to put duck tape around shaft to get it to stay in place in water not move around..

We use a trolling motor on our dinghy which had little directional stability or control when off. The motor now acts as a better rudder even without power and increased directional stability under way. Easy install too.

I bought this to add to an old trolling motor bracket and shaft I had to make a rudder. This fit perfectly on the old shaft. I'm absolutely positive it will work on current trolling motor shafts as well. It is really simple in function and does exactly what it is suppose to. Keeps you tracking straight. I would buy this again.

Rudder doesnt move well when turning the boat. Had to soend time loosening and tightening the screws to find the right tightness so it can move with the direction of the boat

I have been using this with different trolling motors for about 1 year, and never gave it too much thought. Tonight I used a different motor than usual on an 11 ft zodiac inflatable. It was a very frustrating fishing evening. The boat wouldn't track right, would spin weirdly, no sense of finesse while covering the shoreline, just like a leaf on a lake. Just couldn't get it to go where I wanted it, and on calm lake. When I got back to the ramp, I realized I forgot to transfer the rudder from the other trolling motor to the one I used toight. The difference was night and day. Without the rudder the boat was very hard to control and to keep where I wanted it. This showed how efficient that rudder is.

When the wind picks up, this sure helps me get back with my trolling motor on a small ten foot john boat..... The wind would take me sideways, sometimes I'd have to counter steer now the boat stays straight....
