Description

The BR-371 is based on the classic parlor guitars built in the early 20th Century when guitars were indeed played by ladies and gentlemen. Only the finest materials are used in the construction of this remarkable guitar. Select solid Indian rosewood was chosen for the back and sides while the top is made of select solid Sitka spruce. Stunning, hand-inlaid strips of precisely-cut abalone shell outline the entire top and circle the sound-hole rosette. The grained ivoroid buttons on the tuning machines match the body binding on the body and neck. Rare, dense black ebony is used for the bridge and fingerboard. The smaller body size makes this instrument ideal for travel!

  • New favorite guitar
Style: Guitar Only
I expected a lot after reading the specs and reviews and I was not disappointed. The guitar is not perfect as delivered but represents an amazing value for the money. The materials and workmanship are first rate and the sound and balance are remarkable. The action on my guitar was a little high and the string spacing on the nut was off on the low E and A. I replaced the bone saddle with a compensated Tusq and replaced the nut with a Tusq one and lowered the action. It also had two frets slightly high causing a buzz at the 13th fret so I went ahead and did a fret leveling and polishing while I had the nut removed. After all the work, I can honestly say this is now my favorite guitar of the six currently owned. I love the size and the tone and volume continue to astound me. Bottom line: if you can do a little work yourself, or can afford to have it done, you will not be disappointed. The fit and finish is gorgeous and the wood is fantastic. This thing is not really inexpensive, but is worth far more in my estimation. ... show more

  • Perfect in every respect
Style: Guitar Only
If You get a guitar anything like mine, you will be elated. This is a fairly wide nut and string spacing so take that into mind if you don’t like those features. It’s really about as loud and bassy as my hd-28. The actual amount you might lose from the much smaller body is made up by how hard it “projects”. This guitar “projects” and fights way, way outside it’s weight class. And price class. I’m a guitar hog, unashamed of it, and have owned and almost unknown amount. This is one of the best acoustic guitar bargains a man can get, pound for pound. It’s worthy of a much better hardshell case, but the soft shell padded gig bag kinda thing would maybe keep one safe if you’re real mindful and don’t treat it like luggage. I’m sure that’s one reason it’s in the price point, no factory hardshell case. I don’t believe you can even buy one if you wanted. Great guitar, plays like butter, needs zero setup work, just a Dream. One of the greatest new guitars out of the box I’ve ever bought and brother, I’ve bought more than my share. You will be thrilled with this guitar, as long as you have larger stretch in your left hand, which I do. If you have small hands and cannot stretch much, you have no business buying a large nut semi v shaped neck, which this guitar features. I like a large neck and it enables my fingerpicking more room. Don’t let the small size fool you in this small body guitar, it more than holds its own. ... show more

  • Very bad top finish
Style: Guitar Only
Twice I have returned the BR-371 because this last batch's top finish is scratched, and orange peel bumps have not been sanded smooth. Also, divots in the top from oversanding. Now the tell me I will not get my money back for thirty days, even though I return shipped it.

  • Exceptional quality and price
Style: Guitar Only
We may have political differences with the Chinese at this point in history, but “Holy Smokes!”, what a well made guitar this little Asian import is. The craftsmanship seems every bit as good as a couple of my Martins, and to get a parlor guitar like this with style 42 appointments from any of the big names in the US it would cost......a lot. It’s a real boomer with the beautiful rosewood back and sides, and that’s what I wanted. If one was looking for the more traditional little blues guitar sound you’d probably be happier with with the mahogany. This model might be hard to acquire right now (June 2020) due to shipping restrictions, but when it’s available if you’re looking for a comfortable little 0 size guitar this is definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Fingerpickin' Good!
Style: Guitar Only
I own many high-end guitars - Martin D-32; Taylor 416; several boutique electrics. Was seeking a smaller body guitar for fingerpicking and easy playing on the couch. This guitar really fit the bill. The sound is phenomenal. The finish is awesome. Only thing they could improve is the ivoroid binding, but that's a huge nitpick on my part. It sounds and plays wonderfully right out of the box, can't imagine once I've dialed in the strings and tailored it to my preferred action. My one warning to you would be to consider whether you are ok with a slight V-neck. It's a traditional style neck, as required for this type of faithful reproduction, but some people might not like that. I don't mind at all. Took about 5 minutes to get used to. ... show more

  • astounding in every aspect
Style: Guitar Only
originally purchased the 341 but wanted rosewood for the added warmth and color. i was so pleased with the choice and amazed at the overall quality of construction as well as the fit and finish. i had a few issues so i sent it to Tom at saga music in san fran. they did a complete do over of the set up as well as tuning machines, neck relief, nut, saddle and intonation. i forwarded a set of silk and steel strings for the setup and they completed the work in just over a week. i now have the parlor of my dreams. close action, spot on intonation and smooth accurate tuning. i can't put it down. thanks Tom and all the guys at saga music. and thanks amazon for a great deal. ... show more

  • And I would echo Chad's comment--a hell of a lot better deal than an 0-28VS

Have been pleasantly surprised with this guitar. Good-to-superior craftsmanship. And I would echo Chad's comment--a hell of a lot better deal than an 0-28VS.
