I was super excited when I got this, and at first I fell in love with it. Sleek black cool design, perfect size for portable and backyard...etc. But not long after I used it, I noticed something smelled chemical. I ignored and about 30 minutes later I noticed the inside of surface finish was caught on fire. It was slowly spreading to top and outside of it. Even before I realized it, THE WHOLE THING WAS ON FIIRE! It was ONE BIG FIREBALL on my backyard! I got super scared, ran into my house, grabbed fire extinguisher and killed it. My entire backyard was covered white dust for few minutes and the evening was just finished like that. Defiantly not an experience what I was looking for. ... show more

    • Love this firepit!!
I bought this for my husband as a birthday gift. We love it! It makes a small, gorgeous fire that creates a lot of heat and enjoyment. We use it right on our driveway. We have a larger "real" firepit that we will still use when we want to spend an evening around the fire, but sometimes we just want to enjoy a short time outside without gathering wood or staying by the fire until it dies down. We love that we don't have to commit to a big fire or a long processes of getting a fire started. Get the gel starter , it works best. and you can have a fire blazing within 5 minutes. We use the pine pellets (meant for horse stalls) from our local farm store and they work great. A batch of pellets to the line will burn for about 30 - 45 mins, but we can add in scoops of pellets to add time as we like. We are so pleased with this fire pit. It is so much fun! ... show more

This firepit is all that is advertised. It does smoke some as the new wood or pellets firs up but it quickly stops smoking as the flames catch on. As long as you keep the flames going the smoke will be minimal as the new wood lights up. It probably needs some instructions to use since what is included with the pit is not useful or sufficient. It is advertised as a smokless pellet fire pit so if you use pellets fill only a 1/2" layer to start. Starting gel is best to get the fire going. If you use too much pellets to avoid refilling continuously the fire will get high, about 2 ft above the top of the pit and might burn the paint on the top of it as one of the reviews states. But if you take it gradually the pit works well. You have to keep feeding the fuel so before the flame goes out put a handful or two of pellets in the center and the fire will keep going. It will smoke some as the new pellets or log starts. You can throw a log but you have to split the regular size logs so they fit inside the pit if you want a controlled fire in a small place. If you continue feeding a log or one or two handful of pellets before the fire goes out, the pit will keep the fire going without issue. If you want a hotter fire double the logs or the handfuls of pellets in the center of the pit before the fire goes out but be sure to be in an open space. I used hardwood pellets and fir logs and both worked really well as long as you keep the amount of pellets or logs controlled. You have to keep in mind that if you are using it in Small place like a small back yard, keep the amount of refill pellets to less that 2 handfulls or one log. ... show more

    • Great for quick fires!
As another reviewer mentioned, I also use this when I just want a quick, easy fire without starting one in my backyard fire pit. I sit it on our wrought iron table on the deck and just enjoy the heat for a little while. Be sure to check your local big-box hardware store for hardwood pellets. The ones they sell for home heating are generally cheaper than what you can find online. Gel fire starter is a must to get these going. Overall, I love this thing! ... show more

    • The perfect fire if you want to have a nightcap.
This is a great little fire pit. It's portable, comes in its own bag and can be used to have a fire in a few different ways. We enjoy a small fire and a nightcap at the end of the evening. If you fill the pit to the fill line and start the fire with a fire starter you will have a hot, smoke free fire for 30 minutes followed by a gradual decline until the fire completely out at around an hour. You can extend this time by adding more pellets to the fire but be careful to only add a solo cup of pellets at a time or you run the risk of smoking everything out. You can also add firewood as the only fuel or as an additional fuel to the fire. Remember to keep it within the kettle or it will smoke. I purchased a 40 lb. bag of wood pellets from Home Depot for about $16 and got 8 fires out of it. This is much more affordable for the fires we have than purchasing firewood. And it is more portable. 20 lbs. of pellet fit in a 5 gallon container. I recommend to putting about half the recommended pellets in the pit to start the fire and try to leave the center with fewer pellets to help with the airflow until the fire gets started. It is not stainless steel. It tends to have a little surface rust and of course the soot gets everywhere but I think it is easy to wash off. I am confident with care this will last for many years. I recommend this for anyone who wants the affordable portability of a fire ring and is happy with a warm fire that will burn for more than half an hour without any attending. If you follow the directions and fill it to the fill line you will have a nice hot fire for about 30 minutes and by the hour the only thing left is a few embers. It is perfect for us. I did play around with it and you can sustain the fire by adding additional pellets. Only load the pellets about a solo cup at a time or you run the risk of smoking everything out until the fire ... show more

    • Best outdoor fire pit I’ve owned!
Don’t hesitate to make this purchase! I have been using outdoor fire pits for over 20 years, I’ve tried large, small, portable, underground, they have all had their pluses but they have all had the same downfall (SMOKE)! I first saw this from a friend on an outing recently and after being around it for 10 min I had mine on order. It is the perfect size to produce lots of heat, and little to no smoke while burning all of the media and wood. It is designed for pellets but I’ve burned everything in it and at the end of the night there is just powder in the lower chamber. I loved it so much that I have gifted this to several people I camp with and I only wish I had found it earlier! ... show more
