UPDATE: Since my review below, a rep from Blink reached out and offered to do some trouble shooting on my module. As it turns out I got a defective module straight from the factory, they over nighted a new module and all my issues have been resolved!!! This extended range module really works great, the signal on my farthest away cameras is at full strength, compared to half or less on my standard module. I highly recommend the XR module if you've got a larger house with spread out cameras. Really regretting this purchase. Constantly going offline, losing sync with cameras. It's in the stem room literally 10 ft from the wifi router and it still drops signal daily. The other 2 regular sync modules in the house (both on the other side of the house from the wifi router) work flawless with zero issues.

It supossed to improve connective issues, but it created problems, unstable , poor connections. It may need higher upload wi for speed, whereas the older synch modules work better with existing internet connection. Unfortunately I can not return the 2 synch modules I bought because it is over 30 days. The xr synch module without the antennas on this model I am reviewing is better- WITHOUT THE ANTENAS! The issue with this newly release model is its 900 mhz frequency. Why did blink release a new model knowing that it has major connections flaws???Blunk should stand by its products and give refund even after Amazon 30 days return policy!!!

Installation was easy in replacing my existing XR Module with the new XR + Module. Once I conncted to Live view the range showed full strenght bars on all XR + Outdoor 4 cameras. Several cameras are located 400 to 600 feet away from module through trees and brush (rural area), I also tested at 800 feet and works though drops a signal bar strength (I have no need to go farther than 800 feet). Seem to be working fine, quick connection and pulls up live video with no drops. Update: Of the two Sync Module XR+, one is still working fine with full strength, but the other is not. Dropping videos, slow or no live views. The signal has dropped to 1 bar. Rebooted several times and did not help. Was working fine, not sure what happened. Module is still in same location in front of window.

I have owned every model of sync units and this new model leaps above the rest. The range boost makes it so I can now talk over my camera way farther. The connection issues I've had before with older models is almost completely nonexistent. This functions better, stronger, and faster and worked better than expected out the box.

The extended range of this unit improved my multi camera visions, although the cameras are not at a long distance from the router, but I have to go through several walls plus I positioned this router sync in my garage which now is the hub location and because this is a outdoor unit it’s out of the way so that there’s no issues in the house

I constantly had problems with the Sync 2: it would go offline constantly, even though the wi-fi signal was strong and other devices had no problem connecting. So, I bought this hoping that it would be better. It's not. It's another headache. A huge pain in the butt to install with a dozen attempts - glitches, connection, disconnection. I even un- and re-installed the app. When I finally got it to work, after 1 hour and 20 minutes of messing with it, it went offline too! It worked well for a whopping ~3 minutes. Don't buy Blink. Their stuff doesn't work. Their support is offshore have little ability or authority to do anything outside their narrow script. Any other camera product in the world has to be better than this one.

A review of the New Outdoor XR+ module : Twice the range, but lacks reliability. I excitedly ordered the new Blink Outdoor XR+ within an hour of seeing it. The Blink bug has obviously bitten me, as I manage over 25 Blink cameras on two systems and 7 sync modules. I have a dozen cameras around my home for security and wildlife observation, and another dozen deployed in the neighborhood watch group to monitor traffic, homeless issues, theft and more. This gives me a great basis for evaluating the new Blink OUTDOOR XR+ sync module. Within these two systems I have more than half a dozen cameras on Extended Range mode. Amazon delivered the module early, and I excitedly unboxed it. The module came with a power cord and a spot for a micro SD card. I got a brand new Blink 4 out of the package and installed everything. Some folks, like myself, still run ancient cell phones; I have an iphone 6s, and have been avoiding upgrading my 10 year old iphone. Like the 2K cameras, the Blink Outdoor XR+ sync module did not play well with my app, so I grabbed my wife’s slightly newer Samsung Galaxy S9. I am noting this for technical and full disclosure reasons, and I do not want my use of old phones reflecting badly on Blink. I first deployed the new Blink Outdoor Sync XR+ in my living room window, and then took a brand new Blink 4 outdoor camera outside to test the range. I got just past my neighbor’s house before it went out of range. Normally, I would say regular blink cameras can be deployed anywhere in a typical, normal 0.80 acre city lot. This goes one yard further in any direction. Realizing the camera was meant to go outside, I plugged in an extension cord and set the Sync Outdoor XR+ module on top of my mailbox, and continued testing. I took the camera and walked up the road, seeing how long before it went out of range. Results were mixed. I could go several houses away, and sometimes it would work and sometimes not. Sometimes it would restart live view, other times it would not. At max, I was able to get about 1,000 feet from the base unit using the extended range plus mode and live view. While it was exciting to pass up 5 to 10 neighbors houses and still see video coming through on my phone, the service did not operate reliably. Being the first to review, I know can be important, but honesty, integrity and accuracy is also important. The camera did not operate live view reliably in this range. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it would not. Realizing that I had many other blink cameras active in the area, there was a chance my own cameras running on extended range could be providing interference. I turned them all off and it seemed as if I got improved performance. One of the Sync claims is 20% faster loading for live view. I thought I should test this. I stood outside 2 feet from the module and started live view 10 times, counting 1001, 1002, 1003 to time the seconds it took to load live view. Live view loaded in 3 to 6 seconds with an average of 4 seconds. About half the time it loaded in 3 seconds and a few times it was noticeably longer. I then walked down the road 100 feet in full line of sight of the Sync Outdoor XR unit and repeated the test while sitting on a log. In 5 of the 10 next tests the live view loaded as expected in 3-6 seconds, however, 1 time it took 16 seconds to load and it failed to load 4 other times. This is a clear fail, as I am only 100 feet away from a module that claims it could run up to half a mile. It seemed pointless to continue moving down the road further and redo the test. My wife commented that maybe it was our old phones, so I accessed the app from a tablet, and repeated the experiment. The first 9 times; I accessed the live view, it loaded in under 6 seconds, then it failed to load 3 more times after waiting 20 seconds. I do not normally use live view much, but as a feature I expect that it can work consistently. I wanted to run a simple sample set that would be scientifically valid and unbiased. My results are mixed, I believe the Outdoor XR+ module should have, and clearly does have, greater range than the current Sync XR module. Being weather proof, and mounting it outside should help with range. However reliability and meeting expectations may be tough as my first real world tests in an urban environment did not go as well as I would have expected. Maybe I got a dud. Maybe there is something else going on. I understand that Blink Cameras, in order to conserve battery life, send a wake up signal over another radio frequency and then the Camera logs onto WiFi or the 900 megahertz (XR mode) band. We know there may be many other devices like the old cordless phones and baby monitors can use the “open” frequencies of 900 megahertz spectrum. I have experienced lags in waking up other Blink Cameras. I suspect that sometimes this wake up signal fails to get through. Generally, I have found that if the camera does not load up in about 5 seconds I can go back, (canceling the live view) and click live view again and have a good chance it will load on the next try. Something for me was clearly not working right; others as well will be trying these. Maybe the engineers need to adjust some settings. Truth and integrity is more important than a good product review. These cameras, and modules are affordable, or some may call cheap, and they provide an amazing level of awareness. Doubling the range of coverage is still worth it, but be aware going in that range on these cameras in a cluttered urban area may not be as great as one would expect.

So far so good seem to function and connect faster than the original xr. I have few cameras that where just on the border of wifi coverage switched to xr connect faster. I have 4+ cameras at 800+ ft away now with some trees in between. I mounted my xr+ outside on a pole about 13ft high using the blink outdoor power cable. I connected all to solar power instead of battery to insure plenty of battery Down side on adjustments you either in XR mode or XR + but can't do both.
