At this point, I'm just dabbling. I am in no way a tattoo artist nor do I have any plans to become one. I initially just got the tattoo gun and ink to play around, but the more I get into it, the more fun it seems. These practice skins are a GREAT way to start the process of learning depth and shading. The mat has the give, smoothness, and stretch of real skin, and it's visibly cracked if you get to a point of "overworking" were it real skin. The mat holds ink very well when the appropriate depth and force are applied and doesn't hold hardly anything if your needles are too shallow. It's very good at showing the varying darknesses of ink profusion at different depths/pressure as well, as it is very close to actual skin-tone, unlike the more "yellow" skins you sometimes see. It's a wonderful teaching tool to gain the muscle memory necessary to hit that perfect 1.5-2mm depth consistently (Obviously, I'm not there yet) before you move on to 2mm skins for more detailed training on shading. The best part about this pack is that it comes with 5 mid-sized practice skins that are thick enough that both sides can be used (a great deal at ~$2.00 each). The only thing I don't really like is that when you're inking, wiping away the excess leaves very dark ink stains. But you can go in with a magic eraser and some rubbing alcohol and remove most of the stain fairly easily to see where you really are when trying shading. But overall, this is an absolutely perfect kit for someone just getting into the art of inkwork.

The Autdor Store 3mm blank tattoo practice skins, made in China, include fifteen 6” x 8” skins. The fake flesh tone color shows ink well, and the skin has minimal stretching. While these individually wrapped flat skins don’t mimic tattooing a real person, they are excellent for beginners to practice on and prepare for the real thing. There are many similar skins sold on Amazon. I ordered this 15-pack and a 12-pack from another seller. The skins are identical, likely from the same manufacturer. However, the price per skin was higher for the 12-pack. Both options are good for practicing and improving tattooing skills. Great for any beginner to start practicing instead of using people. I was really surprised how realistic it kinda felt and how good the tattoo pen works on it. If you want to start tattooing then this is the way to go for practicing.

Wow! I'm extremely impressed by this set of fake skins! They're a fantastic value and are great quality. They are 3mm thick which helps so much when you're new to tattooing. It provides a more realistic feel and helps you see how deep into "the skin" you're placing the ink. The skins are heavy and offer the right feel you want when you're practicing a new technique. I appreciate the fact this set contains 15 pieces because I think $2 each is a good value for the quality these skins offer. They're weighty and stay in place well without shifting as you create your artwork. Since I'm just learning, I imagine I'll be going through a lot of skins for practice. Having this pack gives me the opportunity to practice many different techniques at an affordable price. I'm really pleased I ordered this set and would consider ordering another in the future.

I ordered these for a different purpose. They are a little higher durometer than I expected (feel more like tanned leather than human skin) but they will work for my purpose. Durometer or Shore durometer is a standardized way to measure the hardness of materials like rubber (elastomers) and plastics. Durometer measurement scales range from 0 to 100 but there is no such thing as a durometer unit of measurement. I do not know what they measure in this regard but I do know it would be a lot higher than human skin. Thanks for reading.

Let me start by saying that there is no synthetic tattoo practice skin that is superior to this one. None. That's because it's super thick, two to three times as thick as other skins, like the ones you see in tattoo kits. These skins are also super soft, and supple. That means when you work them it's the closest thing to real, human skin. The skins are half sheet size, and are perfect for most small to medium sized pieces. Larger designs will naturally require somewhat larger skins. These skins work so well because they won't move, roll up, fold, or do anything to alter or impede your work. They stay put, and you can truly work both sides of the skins, no problem. This set of 15 sheets is a very good deal. Full sheets of this material are pricey, and this is reasonable (for material of this high-quality) in my view. I really like these skins, and I endorse their use. Get a bunch of these, and practice, practice, practice.
