  • Great compact mechanical keyboard Great compact mechanical keyboard
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
This is my first mechanical keyboard purchase after it came highly recommended from a friend who has the Razer Ultimate. I have used mechanical keyboards 20 years ago when I first got introduced to computers and the clicky sound of the keys was intriguing; and over the period of time silent keyboards took over my life and became a norm. I think this is a very well made keyboard and the keys are back-lit and responsive. I primarily use it for office work and occasional gaming. I type fast and some of the keyboards I have used in the past have a bouncy feel to them while some others have keys that have resistance built-in them; but this keyboard is not like that; the keys press so easily and retract back very quickly offering good tactile feedback...you type and you are ready for the next press allowing you to type so fast and accurately. The spacing of the keys is good too and the crunchy & clicky sound is like a rhythm for my mind and the ears wanting me to type more. This is Razer's compact keyboard version and does not have a number pad; so not ideal for number crunchers. Dimensions of the keyboard is 14 x 5 x 0.5 inch (355 x 127 x 12.7 mm) and comes with a braided detachable cable. This is suppose to be a tactile & silent keyboard but in reality they are not quiet; they have that clicky sound to them which I desired most. However, it comes with orange colored sound dampeners (called O-rings) in the box which need to be put around the keys to keep them silent; I have not done that though. Overall, a great compact keyboard for a super fast typing experience if you can live without the number pad. ... show more

  • All around great keyboard
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
Really superb all around keyboard. Price is great (I got it at $60), design is clean and not too in your face, which is welcome from Razer, build quality is solid, and quite pleased with the switches. The lettering looks really clean on the keyboard, and the backlighting is just right, not too bright or soft. Keyboard material, albeit seeming to be mostly plastic, still has a nice texture and premium feel to it. These Razer orange switches (brown equivalent) are wonderful and have made a noticeable difference for me when typing, both as a gamer and as a programmer. They are certainly an outright upgrade from the Outemu reds I had been using at my desk at home previously (I liked the smooth action but found I made a lot of mistakes with the low actuation force of the red switches), and I'll give them a slight edge in terms of personal preference for the softer switch action of the brown switch as opposed to the Cherry MX Blue switches I have in my keyboard at the office (currently not seeing much use, obviously). I am not ultra-sensitive to switch quality, I just prefer a keyboard with clean action and quality build, and after finally having given this style of switch a try I don't think I can go back. My only two *very minor* gripes are these: 1. Aesthetic from the side of the keyboard is a bit strange. The keycaps are very short in height and so the components underneath each key are visible, including the switch+switch housing. Seems like that's the aesthetic they're going for, just not my personal taste, and it's unnoticeable from above, which is where I'm mostly seeing the keyboard from anyway. 2. Keyboard deck warped ever so slightly at one point so that it wasn't sitting flush with the desk. Not sure if this will resurface in the future, but I was able to unwarp it using raw man power (aka a very light bend back in the correct direction) and it has been sitting fine for over a week since I noticed the issue. These are not deal breakers in the slightest, just for others to be aware of when purchasing. Still love the keyboard, and certainly not worth subtracting a star. ... show more

  • Good keyboard, but razer orange switches not a replacement for cherry brown switches
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
Design and build quality: It is a pretty standard TKL design. The frame/ chassis is not too thick, which is nice. Unlike other mechanical keyboards which are too thick and require a chunks wrist rest, with this one I had no issues typing without a wrist rest. The keys are of the floating type which is nice. It's has white backlite, which I prefer as I don't use the fancy RGB lights anyway. Overall build quality and feel wise. It is really good. Switches: Razer orange switches are tactile and have a nice noticable bump. Also I appreciated the addition of o rings for additional sound dampening. The reason I returned them was due to how orange switches are. Being used to cherry brown switches, orange switches are completely different feel. The difference is due to two reasons: Lower actuation force. The actuation force is too low for me. I kept pressing the keys accidently by just resting my fingers on them. Definitely less actuation force compared to browns and it's equivalents. Lower actuation travel distance: The click/bump point was higher as compared to browns. I think maybe half. It's like you start pressing and it actuates the keys. You do feel the tactile bump. Maybe not a negative, maybe they are gaming oriented brown switches with lower actuation force and distance, but for someone who prefers cherry brown tactile feel, they were bit discomforting. If you wish browns had lower actuation force and travel before the bump. This keyboard might be the one for you. ... show more

  • Good purchase!
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I “downgrading” from a full sized blackwidow rgb keyboard. I found it too noisy and wanted something a little bit smaller on the desk. I found this keyboard to be the perfect match for me. First of all, I wanted to stay in the Razer ecosystem and this had all of the features I wanted quieter switches and no 10 keys. Design: It is a quality keyboard I would say the switches are not super quiet, but it is a good sound that doesn’t wake up the whole family. The keyboard has a solid white LED color, which I don’t mind. This keyboard could work in a professional work environment. ... show more

  • Amazing keyboard! Amazing keyboard!
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
I’ve been loving this keyboard so far. You can customize each key to do whatever you want, and you can also enable snap-tap if that’s something you’re interested in. The keys feel very nice and sound amazing. And if you want them to feel a little less clacky, they include a tiny bag of orange o-rings to suppress that clicky sound. I play a lot of rhythm games, which means I am a little aggressive when it comes to pressing the keys. This keyboard doesn’t have any signs of use so far though. The build quality is great. It comes with, what I’m guessing, is an aluminum top which just looks and feels much better than regular old plastic. It connects using a micro-USB to USB-A, which is easily compatible with pretty much any PC or laptop you can buy. It doesn’t take up a lot of space on my desk. If you don’t use the number pad then I do recommend getting TKL so it takes up a lot less space so you have more too on your desk. ... show more

  • Excellent keyboard
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
Love this keyboard. This is the 4th mechanical keyboard I have in 10 years. Used 12 hours a day for programming, writing, and gaming. Bright, even, pleasant neutral-white backlighting is crisp and even, great to not have to deal with blinking and pulsing RGB toys. Keys are pleasant and clicky, with great feedback. Removable USB cable is great for switching between computers, and for transport. Easily removable yet durable keycaps make it easy to clean, too. Lack of a numpad is great for those of us who don't use it, the space saving is surprisingly significant, the keyboard no longer dominates desk space. The only potential con is, the bottom half of the keycaps is not backlit (ie the 4 glows, the $ does not). However, in my experience this isn't an issue. Though as a software dev I touch-type the symbol keys, obviously I can't touch-type the keyboard-specific volume, multimedia, and brightness keys - and yet, the glow of the monitor is enough to make them usable even at night. If you are visually impaired, or otherwise need to be able to clearly see the symbol keys, this may be significant for you, but only if you plan on using this keyboard in total darkness. If you're like me and won't be hampered by this, go for it! You won't regret it. ... show more

  • Inexpensive, basicl TKL mechanical keyboard
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
Caveat: I am not a gamer, I am a programmer. who likes mechanical keyboards. Pluses (for me) - Rather nice keycap font. - Tactile but non-clicky switches (similar to Cherry Browns) - Quiet, esp with the o-rings installed. This keyboard may be a good option for an office setting, where noise is a factor. - O-rings are included (you have to install them yourself) - nice white backlighting - When the caps lock is on, the caps key lights up in green. - The key switches claim to have extreme longevity. Minuses: - Inexpensive short and thin keycaps. These are nothing like the excellent replacement keycap sets Razer sells separately. Well, at least the font is nice looking on them... - The tactile bump of the switches is barely there. You can feel it if you press the key real slow, but at normal speed, I detect barely any feedback. In this sense they are very similar to the Cherry Browns. (My baseline for these type of tactile/non-clicky key switches are the Holy Pandas, a pretty high bar) - The keybed is not very heavy (esp compared to some other TKL keyboards, such as the RedRagon, or CoolerMaster) . (Usually, for me, the heavier the keybed the better. (You preference may be different). - The biggest minus for me: The secondary (shifted) symbols are placed low on the keycaps and not lit up, and are rather small (hard to see) . Actually, it looks like the secondary symbols are just painted on, and not even see-through, The !@#$ and similar symbols should be see-through, placed higher, closer to the primary symbols 1234 (etc) . So that they are properly lit up by the backlighting. For example the: pause break key was done properly, and both words are lit up just fine. This is how all the keys shoudl have been done. Good quality keycaps often render both the primary and the shifted key symbols backlighted, so this is a rather cheap-ish shortcut Razer took here. I could buy a better keycap set, but that would push up the cost to the point where you could just buy a similar keyboard that comes with the desired quality keycaps to begin with. - No extra usb port on the keybed. - The keyboard tilt is only one way. The best keybeds allow it both ways, so you can elevate either the front or the back of the keybed. Summary: On sale, I consider it a good value. At full retail, there are probably better keyboards out there. I consider the Red Dragon TKL keyboard combined with with the Razer sold keycap set, plus an add-on set of double o-rings a marginally more satisfying keyboard overall. (Much Heavier keybed, solderless, swappable switches (within the Outemu faily) Of course, actual switch longevity still remains to be seen. Some suggestions for Razer: Sell this with a better quality, thicker keycap set. Place the secondary ( shifted) symbols higher on the keys, so they can be backlighted. Add an extra USB port. Make the key switch sockets solderless (swappable). Make it a bit heavier. (Something like the Drop Ctrl, but for half the money). Make they keybed tiltable both ways (esp. ergonomically, _away_ from the user) ... show more

  • Impressive for the price
Style: Lite TKL Pattern: Orange Switches - Tactile & Silent
Impressive for the price. Razer has come a long way with their switches. My favorite keyboard switch is the Cherry MX Brown, and these are very close. Subjectively, this keyboard is a little bit louder but not by much. Typing on it feels great, very responsive. Pros: - Great backlighting, with fine control of the brightness. - Tactile switches, very close to Cherry MX Browns. - Braided cable. - Roughly 2/3 the cost of keyboards with Cherry MX switches + backlighting. - Dedicated media keys. Cons: - The larger keys such as spacebar and shift use the old metal crossbar style. This makes them more difficult to remove for cleaning / adding O-rings. Since these are things you don't need to do often, I consider this a minor inconvenience. - Slightly louder than Cherry MX Brown keyboards. - Razer Synapse bloat is required to customize it. - Alt / Fn / Menu keys are different sizes, so if you remap those keys you won't be able to move them around. ... show more
