    • Good for kid's room!
I needed blinds for my first child's room and chose roller-style shades since they block out the most light and really helps with bedtime when it begins to get lighter earlier in the day. The thing I like about these are that it fits the window great, the installation was easy (I did an inside mount) , and it came with a valance, which made the shades much more attractive than most of the other shades I see sold. I liked this product so much that I ended up buying another almost two years later for my second child. Obviously, overall, very nice product. Just some small things to note that don't affect it's use in a child's room but may make it less appealing in other rooms: the edges of the shade are not the cleanest. They are straight and attractive from a foot or two distance, but the cut edges aren't finished, which you can see up close. Second, in both of my blinds, the fabric doesn't fit perfectly center on the physical roller at the top. It is slightly closer to the right. I doubt most people would notice, though, and you can move the entire shade a touch to the left after you install it and there is no difference in the coverage over the window. This DOES block the light well. It's in our toddler's room and it makes it nice and dark for naps now. Some light comes in the sides in the late afternoon, but not bad. We had some trouble installing it, but it was installed in the frame of a window original to our 100 year old house and behind an already installed roman shade, so that may not be a universal problem. The biggest issues we have though are that it doesn't roll all the way back up, it stops about 2/3 up. No amount of pulling and tugging in various directions has changed that and it's been up for weeks now. Second issue is it holds onto creases/folds indefinitely. So if you accidentally bend the fabric, or your two year old grabs it, it won't look smooth anymore. That's fine, the kid doesn't care how his shade looks. ... show more

I chose this product because of how cheap it was, as it was going into my three and five year olds bedroom and didn't want to spend money for them to break an expensive version. Insulation was so easy, like 5 minutes each. They do a pretty good job blocking out the light. So much so that my kids slept in extra half hour this morning! One con that I'd like to point out, but I knew reading the other reviews, is that the edges get weak when it's not rolled up carefully. Just after one time of my kids shooting it up it got wrinkled. I'm hoping this at least last throughout the summertime. But that's the reason why I didn't give it five stars. ... show more

I was hopeful for this product. I have a full length metal door, and this blind unit seemed to be the answer. The install was super easy. Using the product was fine a first. But after about 2 roll up times, the sides of the blinds were being shredded by the hanging mechanism. The roll up bracket has sharp metal exposed. When a blind rolls up, is rubs on the metal bracket and shreds the blind. So, bottom line, this is a good concept, easy to install, but won't last very long if you ever roll up the blind. ... show more

Update: We've had them installed for a bit now, and have notices a couple minor issues. First - if you aren't careful when retracting the blind, it can very easily roll up crooked and sort of crumple the edges into the mechanism that holds the roll. Second - the edges of blind material seems prone to fraying. We rarely use the blinds and there are already areas where the threads have come out and light is leaking through. This could be compounded by the first issue. I'm still leaving it with 4 stars because of how easy they were to install. So easy to install, I want to get some for the rest of the windows in my house. The blackout feature works great, it blocks all of the light. No more glare on my TV!!! The pull string can slide back and forth on the bottom rail. I might rig up some way to keep it in the middle. Maybe a glue gun or something. I don't consider this a fault or problem with the shade. ... show more
