  • Works well
parts missing due to shipping damage, they made it right and quickly sent the hardware. Got it put together and it works well in my garage. Drive on it, still a bit hard to turn but drive off 180 degrees later.

  • Works.....BUT.....NOT FOR ME!!!
I gave four stars mainly for the ramp itself, nice gage steel, but I would give two stars for the wheels as they are very cheap, and you must have a clean floor for these to roll. But if your floor is "too clean" the whole assembly wants to scoot forward unless you brace it against a wall or use a piece of lumber to keep it from scooting. Even going slow and steady the dolly still wanted to scoot forward, not a good feeling when you're attempting to load a 900lb machine on it. In MY case I have an Ultra Classic with turned down exhaust tips. When I entered the dolly slowly all was going fine until the exhaust caught on the lever and my forward motion caused the ramp to raise which enabled the wheels to contact the floor and at that point the whole assembly spun to the right and dumped the bike on me and the floor, but luckily the front and rear crash bars kept the bike from actually pinning me to the deck. At first I was extremely pissed and wondered "WTF happened?!!" Eventually I figured out it was my turned down exhaust tip that cause the ramp lever to raise. Now I have a 900lb motorcycle laying on its side with the front wheel still on the dolly and the rear wheel on the concrete floor. I have a bad left leg and not supposed to lift anything over 75lbs, so I asked my small framed girlfriend to assist me in attempting to raise the bike and you can guess how that went.........NOWHERE. Attempting to raise the bike by putting your butt in the saddle then walking it back was also not an option with my bad leg, and the fact the whole assembly would scoot with the front wheel still ON the dolly. I ended up having to call the local police dept. and an officer showed up and we got the bike stood up and I slowly rolled the bike off the dolly. I used to think I was at least semi-intelligent as I could read and understand directions, but this whole ordeal caused me to wonder. Now, in all fairness, this was not the fault of the dolly itself as it "should" work fine and do what it's supposed to do, but it does have a couple of issues that need to be mentioned. As some others have mentioned AND fixed, some type of anti-slip material needs to be on those ramps. When this dolly is prepared for loading you have slick painted steel resting on your concrete floor, which in itself could be slick. The ramp levers could be a bit closer to the ground with just enough room for getting your fingers/hands on them for re-positioning. IF I were going to keep this unit (I'm NOT......it's For Sale locally) I'd have to attach some rubber to those ramps and quite possibly the underside of the dolly/trough itself to keep it from slipping on a smooth floor (actually considered this before I made my attempt at loading, but didn't). Overall, this dolly will do what it's supposed to do, but please be aware of some of its shortfalls and use it with caution. No need to hurt yourself and/or your motorcycle. I'll go back to the "old way", have the girlfriend pull her vehicle out of the garage then I'll do the back and forth 'til I get the bike turned around and pointed out to the street. ... show more

  • Critical design flaw, in my opinion
It pains me to write this review because this dolly would have been great if it had worked for me, but it didn’t. I applaud those who gave this rave reviews and found it suited their needs. As with the Motomover product, I’d love to see a video demonstrating how this dolly was so easy for them to use.** Assembly was relatively uneventful. I agree with one reviewer who suggested that it would be easier to assemble with a helper. Positioning the heavier parts (two rail halves and kickstand plate) to get the bolts threaded and tightened is awkward and difficult if you do it yourself. As with other products from China that I am familiar with, the instructions are kind of goofy and the exploded view diagram could have been better drawn. If you take your time, study the instructions first and carefully categorize, count, and group the small hardware before you get started it will go smoothly and you will avoid the possibility of having to repeat some assembly steps. I was missing 20 of the small washers and had to buy them from Home Depot. The attachment hardware is all metric. The main problem with this product for me is that the four main support casters don’t swivel 360 deg. It’s more like 270 deg. There is about a 90 deg. arc centered on the side of each caster well facing the rail where the caster bumps the wall and prevents free movement through 360 deg. The caster on the kickstand plate rotates 360 deg. but catches a little at the innermost point of travel. My garage floor is perfectly smooth and I had no problem getting my 730 lb. Harley Softail on it with the engine turned off, but I had a lot of trouble moving the dolly because I couldn’t roll it more than a few inches in any direction before one or more of the casters would bind up. You would think it would be easy enough to maneuver the dolly to rotate the casters into areas of the free-moving arcs to get the assembly moving in the desired direction but I found it next to impossible. I spent about an hour struggling with it and only got my bike turned about 45 deg. One reviewer stated that he ground down the inside wall of each caster well so that the casters would all swivel 360 deg. Unless you have a relatively light motorcycle, I’m not sure this would be a good idea. I’m not an engineer, but it appears to me that you would be removing a significant amount of load bearing material. The inside wall of each caster well that you would be grinding away is the side wall of the main support rail. In any event, it’s likely that you would void your warranty if you do this. To their credit, Discount Ramps customer service was very courteous, responsive and helpful in assisting me with my problems. They are a stand-up, reputable vendor and I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again. Zero stars for this product Five stars for Discount Ramps **[EDIT] After I wrote this review I found a YouTube video demonstrating this product. I don’t know what to say. All I know for sure is that I absolutely could not move the dolly around the way they show in the video. Read through the reviews and you will see that I wasn’t the only one with this complaint. My only guess is that, for some reason, with a certain number of these units they substituted larger caster wheels than the OEM parts and they mount just fine in the predrilled holes but don’t rotate freely 360 deg. Some reviewers talk about replacing the small cheap casters that come with the unit with bigger better ones. Well, considering my experience with this thing, it’s pretty obvious just how that’s going to turn out for you. ... show more

  • Maybe not the product for the heavier bikes
Packaging was mashed during delivery, but product was intact and not bent....so points for durability. Not happy about the scuffs and scratches, but I decided to keep it and put it together. Easy peasy assembly in about an hour. Very sturdy. I have a 2014 HD Street Glide Special about 950 pounds. Cannot push or drive the bike onto it. The dolly slides forward until it hits the wall...then i can drive onto it. I will keep it but will probably try to put some rubber pads on the bottom to give the dolly a little more grip to the cement floor. Maybe not the best product for the bigger bikes...but sturdy!! ... show more

  • Works for moving my large BMW R1200CLC
I was originally going to go with another brand, but prime day price changed my mind. Heavy package arrived on time, but box was beat to heck but held everything together. Needs two to move in most cases. No noticeable damage or scratches, so packing okay. Off the bat, instructions were very sparse and hard to tell which direction bolts go in. All the hardware was packed in one bag mixed together. I recommend sorting to make sure you have everything before getting started. These hardware are cheap, I read this info before ordering. I tried not to tighten more than an 1/8" or 1/4" past it becoming tight. Even knowing this, I still broke one bolt-my bad. Most go in with bolt coming up from bottom or from inside rail to outside, except the bolts to attach the kickstand holder to the frame. Just trust the lock washers and inspect every couple of months BUT DON"T OVER TIGHTEN! My casters turned 360 (others had issues, might be slightly adjustable if you have problems) The casters don't seem high tech and they work. Took about an hour. Bike went on fine, obviously can't turn handlebars to lock wheel to remove key. My bike is on a wood floor in a portable garage building. I was able to turn the bike and move it around fine with some normal resistance of such a heavy item on wood. I will update later if any issues. I believe that for heavy bikes this should have 1 or 2 additional casters to decrease the load on caster wheel, which "might" make it easier to move. At this point, would buy again-on sale. ... show more

  • Nice dolly. Very useful and fits my long bike.
This is a very nice bike dolly. I use it for my 2015 Honda Interstate, which is a long bike. It fits with room to spare. Once loaded, the bike and dolly move with relative ease, any direction you want to go. It makes it easy to store my bike in front of one of my cars and under a storage self. It tucks away nicely until the snow all goes away. Word of advice though: this thing is heavy and unwieldy once it is assembled. Sliding it around on the floor is easy. Carrying it to the garage is not. So don't be dumb and assemble it in the house, like I did! LOL ... show more

  • Easy to install, tough to maneuver Easy to install, tough to maneuver
FedEx delivered on time though as others have said the handling of the box left something to be said. A quick glance confirmed all the parts were essentially present. Assembly is pretty straight forward but you better have the correct tools (or two). I spent 75% of the assembly time in getting the 5 wheels. The clearance underneath is very less and had to use a variety of tools (nose plier, screwdriver) with a spanner on top to tighten them well. There were a few scuff marks and paint chipped off but not much of a bother to me given it will be out in the open for me. The worst part was when I went to add the kick stand panel and realized I had got 2 extra M6 washers instead of the needed M8 :( A trip to HD fixed it but spending all that time and money to buy something worth $0.26 (ea washer is 13c) felt a bit of a letdown. I reduced 1-star due to that. Rest of the install was smooth. There is a bit of a gap in the 2 main panels where they join but given that they are reinforced with the joining bar am not too worried about it. Mounting my bike (2003 HD Softtail Heritage) was quite easy with my wife guiding me. Took 2 tries to get it all on the dolly so am happy about it. Moving the dolly though was another matter and took quite a few mins and sweat to push it in the correct direction. I will have to research a bit on what the best method is. I don't think anyone wanting to use the bike daily would want to drag and push twice in a day. There has to be a simpler way to adjust the dolly with a bike on it (800+ lbs)! ... show more
