Provides a good overview of most of what one needs to know about roofing projects. I was specifically looking for information on repairing a damaged porch roof and there wasn't too much about repairs in the book. This book is geared toward putting an entire new roof on a house. Some of the information was very useful in understanding how roofs shed water and the importance of flashing and using quality materials. Used to install a window in siding and for repairs to siding. Proved accurate, informative and helpful. Explanations are brief but clear and essentially complete. Anticipating additional future uses. Would certainly purchase again.

Descriptions were right on, would definitely recommend. Never did siding before and put cedar shake up on my shorehouse and it came out beautiful.

    • The content was well organized and the book is easy to read
I bought this book before redoing part of my roof, and I have two main complaints. First, the content is a bit shallow. Every topic is covered by a single page or so. For example, I couldn't find an answer on exactly where to place the starter row of shingles, or the drip rail. There are different opinions on whether to flip or cut... The book only addressed one. Second. The breadth was too limited. My roof has architectural shingles. This book only talked about 3-tab shingles... All in all, it this book didn't have any information that I hadn't already found in blog posts and DIY websites. On the positive side. The content was well organized and the book is easy to read, in a legible font, and has decent pictures. ... show more
