    • It is working so far.
So far, so good. I have a 500 sq ft bedroom with 12 foot ceilings and half a wall of windows. I sleep better when it is cold, but setting the central ac at 68 is not an option from a cost perspective. Plus I don't need to cool the rest of the house like that. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and it is working as advertised. No problems getting the room down to 68 degrees and keeping it there. I turn it on about 5pm. It is quiet once it gets up to temperature. I have not measured the amount of electricity it uses, but my use is less than this time last year. I attribute that to being able to program the thermostat to a higher temperature for the rest of the house. I am not sure how it would do if the central AC went out and it had to do the work by itself. ADDENDUM. On day 31 of ownership, I got a P1 code which means the water reservoir is full. Per the manual that is not supposed to happen unless used in a high humidity environment. I drained it and it filled up 20 minutes later. I tried it again the next day and the tiny reservoir still fills up in about 20 minutes. SO I took the enclosed supply hose and ran it into a bucket and it generated one gallon in one hour. SO then I ran the hose outside to let it drip. The unit is still working. Not sure if this is normal or not. It did get hotter where I am, but not necessarily more humid. According to the manual, it is only supposed to need emptying at the end of the season. Hmmm. ... show more

This is an amazing unit. It sets up easily and just simply works. This thing is highly efficient with the inverter. It starts off taking about 1kw per hr to run but once it reaches temperature the draw is under 450 watts. At that usage its actually more efficient than the two fans I would have running if I didn't have this unit. If you're in Florida and have all your hurricane preparedness basics covered then this will be a sweet cherry on top in the comfort department ... show more

Believe it or not, I have trialed about 20 of these portable air conditioners. Of that stack, about half went back nearly immediately due to various sound issues. As I stated in a review of a different machine, sometimes a unit was damaged in transit and that was the reason for the noise. This one doesn't make too much noise but I can feel a rumble on our mattress when I'm going to sleep. Cooling is the major reason you buy these machines and it does a good job on our 14 x 12 room. Overall, the price was reasonable and it is a keeper, but don't expect it to cool without a little noise. ... show more

Works great! wish I bought this instead the garbage from Tosot. This is quiet, or as quiet as any portable AC will do. But more importantly it cools the room quick! The hose setup is good and secure. And I don't have to worry about paying out of pocket to return it because it's good and im keeping it. ... show more

I bought this and it’s makes a weird noise when I turn it on. Like one of the fans is brushing against something. I’m very disappointed and was a big waste of money. Wish I could get my money back

    • High pitched whine makes this unit useless at night.

This unit cools great (for now*) but we use it in the bedroom at night and the compressor makes this high-pitched whine at about 11,800 hz which is absolutely head-splitting. (See photo.) This has happened with two brand new units, so it seems to be a design flaw. *This was supposed to replace our last Black & Decker unit which only lasted two years before starting to freeze over and become totally useless.
