  • Does the job with ease.
Style: Screwdriver Only
I like Black and Decker products for jobs around the house. For bigger jobs I use DeWalt tools which is owned by B+D. This tool comes with two attachments, slotted and Phillips drives. I added a socket drive. My first job was to remove six under the kitchen cabinet fluorescent light fixtures and replace them with new LED light fixtures. Did the job easily with plenty of charge left. The new fixture holes did not line up with the old ones and this tool screwed in the new screws without any pilot holes. This little unit has plenty of torque to remove and replace the screws. I like that it can be locked so as to hand tighten to really cinch the screw or bolt down. It has a 3-position handle but I find that the handle in a straight position works fine for me. My only complaint, and it's small one, is the trigger. It can be depressed as well as pressed to the left or right to screw or unscrew the hardware. You may like the way it works but I didn't. But still, I like it, glad I bought it and it gets the job done. ... show more

  • Pretty Good
Style: Screwdriver Only
It does exactly what it says. Strong points are the weight and ease of use but it is a little slow, has no adjustments for torque, and it really feels like it should have a trigger instead of a button. I like it though.

  • Not powerful and that's good
Style: Screwdriver Only
I use this to put bolts down on Harley motors. Works perfect as it's very lightweight not torky. just to run the bolts down

  • This little guy? We definitely talk about this little guy...
Style: Screwdriver Only
Firstly, I hate mindless drones giving anything that turns on a 5...and at the same time I detest those who give anything that isn't their favorite color a one star. With that typed, this thing delivers... Appearance - 2/5. Its black and orange, which might not be anyone's favorite colour scheme, but that's not why we buy tools, so we press on. Ease of use 5/5 - It delivers when it comes to ergonomics and mobility. At first you might think the top operated button is clunky, till you actually start drilling and it all becomes rather unexpectedly easy. It might not look pretty, but it functions perfectly for the duty at hand. From cabinets , doors to drawers, its the right size and angle (pivot handle) for the small tasks. Now keep in mind this isn't a Dewalt power drill with 2000 rpm...its a small drill for menial tasks, so don't expect a wall drilling monster. Battery life 5/5 - Was drilling doorknobs, cabinets, a desk (legs), and a desk drawer for more than 5+ hours on one charge. This little guy delivers, really made that 4 star turn into a 5. The cons - It doesn't have a light, the battery is internal, and it has no trigger per say (again its at the top). Which some might find weird, but I got used to it immediately. Again, this could be a strong 4, due to how much it can take and how much I threw at it without overheating or breaking. But that battery life is the real MVP, I don't normally give 5's especially with tools, but B&D delivered here. ... show more

  • Just Like The Old Days.
Style: Screwdriver Only
Black & Decker finally got around to bringing back the features from an older model screwdriver that made it useful. Had an old B&D NiCd screwdriver that looked a lot like the 9072. When the NiCd's wouldn't hold a charge any longer I bought a PD400LG because of the twist handle that gave you a choice of either a straight handle or a pistol grip handle. Well, besides that, most everything else was poorly designed. The location of the on/off switch almost guaranteed that you'd accidentally turn it on at the wrong time. Then they provided an LED light by the bit holder so you could see where the screw was when working in tight, dark places. Only trouble was it operated off of the on/off switch - so the screwdriver had to be turning in order for the light to come on. (B&D design engineers thought that was a good idea?) The forward/reverse switch was on the handle - but not well located if you constantly switching directions. Needless to say, when I saw the Li2000 I bought one. The on/off switch is back in the same place as on the older model where it's easy to get to, but not in the way. The forward/reverse switch is also back to where it was before - part of the same switch as the on/off. Now everything is controlled by one thumb. They added a multi-position handle that gives more choices that the previous one. They also added a gear lock, so you can use it as a regular screwdriver if you run out of power; so there are no worries about stripping the drive gearing. And, lastly, they got rid of that stupid light. This is a simple, well designed, easy to use, electric screwdriver they should have released years ago (rather than the one they did). ... show more

  • Light Duty use only - never force into a stall!
Style: Screwdriver Only
I have had four of these in the last 10 years and they all failed the same way. There is a small plastic pinion gear on the motor shaft that eventually fractures. This gear is less than 1/4 inch in diameter identified as part 14 in the attached drawing. When that happens the drive no longer works on much of anything. It is quite a task to open the assembly and replace the gear if you can get one which I was never able to do, so I just buy a new model. If this gear were made of brass instead of nylon the unit would last much longer. I keep buying them since I know they last a couple of years anyway and are otherwise very handy to use and work well. One heads up is when you get a new good one, it hums smoothly in both directions. The last one one I got had a rattle / buzz and failed just past the warranty perion. I suspect it was not a new unit even though it came in the plastic package, perhaps a return. ... show more

  • Good product
Style: Screwdriver Only
Works very well for a small tool. Fits in your hand well. Hold the charge for much longer then expected. Even after not being used for months it stays charged which prior similar tools did not.
