We've been using our Black and Decker LSW40C cordless blower for about 2 years now and it has been a great tool. We live on a wooded lot with lots of oaks, walnuts, hickories, black cherries, and other "dirty" trees. I mean dirty in the sense that they drop a LOT of stuff on the lawn, roof, sidewalk, and deck that needs to be cleaned up. The LSW40C has been a great help keeping the hard flat surfaces clean of the tree detritus instead of manually sweeping. It will quickly clear the open flat surfaces clear of leaves and twigs even whole walnuts and small branches much quicker and with less effort then using a broom. However, this blower is not very good at blowing leaves or moving stuff that you would normally need a rake for. That's an important distinction to make when deciding whether or not to buy this unit. It makes a really effective broom but if what you're looking for is a rake then it's not for you. I think a lot of negative reviewers may not realize this and may have bought the wrong thing to save money or by not doing research. In general the most powerful blowers are the gas powered backpack units. They are good for clearing lawns of large piles of leaves. The next most powerful are the corded electric units. These also are like brooms also but are more powerful then cordless units and can clear larger areas and be used for much longer then cordless. The least powerful are the cordless blowers. These are useful for replacing brooms to clear sidewalks, decks, porches, garage floors, etc. In summary, if your looking for something to clean debris from small hard surfaces quicker and easier then a broom, this unit does a good job and is the least expensive of the name brand blowers. ... show more

Style: 40V Cordless Sweeper Kit
Love my new battery powered sweeper! I originally bought it to blow grass clippings, bits of mulch and other plant debris off a stone walkway that has grass between the stones and cannot be swept with a broom. I soon found a lot of other uses for my air-powered sweeper, as we have 2 covered porches and a patio which I can now clean up in a snap. And then there is the garage —- without moving objects (I do pull my cars out), I can do a quick floor cleanup in a short period of time (without moving objects it only gets about 90% clean, but hey, it is a garage, and otherwise I would not take the time to do it at all, so it would remain 100% filthy!). Yes, it only has about a 30 minute life, but in that 30 minutes I get as much done as I would in probably 2 hours if I was hand sweeping, so 30 minutes is plenty. And it is so lightweight that it does not tire me out. As mentioned in other reviews, this tool is not meant to blow leaves off a lawn, but it is a wonderful addition that is making my life so much easier, especially as we live in a dry environment with breezes that blow a lot of debris around. Practically speaking, the battery takes a few hours to recharge, and given that it will wear out in 30 minutes of use, I remove the battery after each use and recharge so it is always ready to go when I am. But this is a small (tiny) inconvenience as compared to managing cords, messing with gas, or hand sweeping. I really love this new tool (and I am not one who wants to own, maintain, or store a lot of tools) and love seeing the results. The blower does not have the power that you would expect for the price paid. That being said, it will blow grass and leaves off the sidewalks but if you need more power like blowing leaves off your lawn...get a bigger blower.

    • Somewhat Disappointing
Style: 40V Cordless Sweeper Kit
I guess I was naïve to think this 40-watt leaf blower would be the same as the B &D 40 watt one I'm replacing. The old model had six power settings, with the high being able to do serious work. The new model has one setting, and it's fairly weak. The old model had a 24-inch tube, while the new one has an 18-inch tube, meaning unless you are short, you will have to stoop to move any debris. The old model would run for 20 minutes or more nonstop, while this model has less run time. On the plus side, the new model is very light weight, similar to a child's toy. I have several B&D battery tools and like all of them, but I'm less fond of this one. Perhaps others may enjoy this particular tool more than I do. ... show more

We just received this and tried it out. We also have a corded B&D blower vac and this is much smaller. It measures about 6 inches wide and is 34 inches long with the tube. It works quite well for blowing leaves and small sticks from the deck, sidewalks and drive. It also works well for blowing leaves, dust and small sticks from the pickup box after a trip to the city compost. It does take a fair amount of time to recharge the battery. It would be nice if there was a way to hang it. Run time seems pretty good, probably at least 1/2 hour on a full charge. While it doesn't have the power of the larger blower it is much lighter and the small size makes it much more maneuverable. ... show more

The brand new battery only charges to 2/3 capacity (2 out of 3 green dots), then the red light starts flashing, indicating a broken battery. Not sure at this point how I can get a replacement battery. The blower works as expected with this battery, but only runs for 2/3 of the time it's supposed to run. ... show more
