This works so well. It makes easy work of small branches. My backyard gets overrun with weeds that basically grow into trees. I call them weed trees. This made such easy work of them. But it's a little scary to use, it's easy to get going fast and get on a roll. It's very satisfying how easily it cuts, but you really need to make sure your other hand holding the branch is far away from the cutter. This cutter has some serious power and the cut happens fast. Go slow and take your time getting into position. If you need to hold the branch, keep your fingers and hand at a good distance. One thing I will note is that when you pull the trigger there is a spark or flash of light that you can see from the back. I didn't know if it was normal or not so I contacted the company and was informed that it was normal. ... show more

This is the best garden tool I've ever bought. Pruning is suddenly easy and very satisfying. I had used my Black &Decker pole chain saw to shorten my very tall fruit trees, A plum, apple and pear. I needed to cut the limbs up to reclaim my back yard. I tried manual loppers, but that took two hands to cut and a third to position the branch. It was cumbersome and tiring. I bought this model so I could share batteries with my pole saw and weedeater. Now I have six batteries and two chargers and I run out of steam before they do. One inch branches snip off without thinking and larger ones just take another couple trigger pulls. It is actually fun to use and I found myself making piles of checkers just for fun. Easier than fixing my electric chipper. This pruner is life changing, especially for old geezers, like me. Loppers make my arms hurt, but I can pull a trigger all day long. This would be a great gift, too, for someone with trees, or who plays checkers. Its powerful enough to cut fence wire, or the errant finger, so be careful. ... show more

I really like these pruning shears! i have been using them to cut small branches, brush, etc. It is great I only have to use 1 hand - makes yard work so much easier. Battery life is good. I cannot recommend this enough.

My yard has become overgrown with small trees that love to volunteer. I actually strained my right hand from hours of use with a regular trimmer because there is SO much to cut. That's why I researched powered trimmers. I chose this one since I already have some of the other B&D 20v MAX tools so have an array of batteries. I am blown away by how well this works! It effortlessly cuts through good-sized branches and small trees that would have been much too large for the manual trimmer and using the reciprocating saw was always jarring (and required more grip strength from me). While this is on the heavy side, I find I have no problem supporting the bottom where the battery is with one hand while squeezing the trigger with the other. The trigger requires almost no pressure which is great for me, but you should also be mindful of where the blades are because i could see where this would easily sever a finger. 10/10 recommend! My only regret is not buying one sooner. UPDATE: One year into using this, it began making a loud clicking/banging sound. It has a two-year warranty so I contacted Black & Decker (no easy feat as their customer service was hard to connect with). Once I did reach a human, they were pleasant and once I submitted my receipt and a couple of photos of the tool, they said they were shipping out a replacement. This was great as I was thinking I’d have to mail it in for repair and wait. I had the new replacement in my hands within a week - and they even included a battery! I’m not sure if this is a common issue with this pruner or if I just got a wonky one. Either way, B&D stood behind it. ... show more
