    • Basic fan with limited 'features' but not as easy to operate as expected

The fan does what it is supposed to do but sometimes awkward in getting the desired results. When running, the motor housing visibly vibrates, possibly caused by an unbalanced blade. When placed on carpet, there isn't any noticeable vibration noise but if placed on a table and/or wooden floor, the vibration may cause resonance from the table/floor. "Oscillation" is optional but only by physically raising/lowering the knob on the top of the motor housing. It is not selectable via the remote control or front panel. "Timer" interval settings are in 30 minute increments, up to 7.5 hours. There are 4 blue indicators, representing .5, 1, 2 and 4 hours. The selected time is the sum of the 4 indicators (much like a hexadecimal display). Upon the 1st button press, the .5 indicator comes on. The next press turns off the .5 and turns on the 1. The 3rd press turns the .5 back on (.5+1=1.5 hours). The 4th turns on the 2 and turns off the .5 & 1 lights, etc. So, if you want to set the timer for the maximum of 7.5 hours, you'll have to press the button 15 times! After the time has elapsed, the fan will turn off. There is no 'memory' for the setting so the procedure will have to repeated every time. When plugging in the fan for the 1st time there will be a single beep. Afterwards, each pressing of the Power button on either the front panel or remote, will cycle through the fan speeds High, Medium, Low and then Off. (The manual is backwards - it says Low, Med, High). Also, there is no memory for the power setting so if there is a power failure or it is unplugged, the fan will stay off. This also prevents it from being used with a Smart plug such as Alexa or Google Assistant. The plug would turn it off but you'd have to use the remote/front panel to turn it back on. While running, the fan noise is tolerable on High with a decent air flow. On Low, the noise is barely noticeable yet still provides good air movement. The fan was easy to assemble in under 5-10 minutes. The base is heavy enough to keep the entire fan stable however there is some slight wavering/wobbling due to the oscillation. ... show more

    • What's with the beeping?

I bought this fan to put by my bedside to help with hot flashes and it does that very well. The only problem I have is that when you turn it on, change the speed or turn it off it beeps really loud. Not sure why the beeping is necessary. I am well aware that it has turned on. So as it is successful at cooling me off fast it wakes my husband up and has become a constant joke in our house. I might get a different fan for the bedroom and use this one somewhere else. BEEP! BEEP! ... show more

Its not a fancy fan, but it does the job of moving around air. Set up was easy. Took maybe 5 minutes with the majority of the time spent unbending the metal clips for the fan case to clip the metal caging together (pliers and patients were needed). Everything else was just like every other fan for setup. Pretty quiet and good air movement. We use a fan mostly for the dog who gets hot and to block out the neighborhood noises. The fan does have a little blue light when on to show speed/timer length which isn't a problem during the day but very bright and annoying at night. A sticky note and some tape dampend the light to a more tolerable level. If light doesn't bother you it's a fine fan at a decent price. If bright blue light is annoying to you it's pretty easy to cover and still use the fan (it just doesn't look as good with something covering the light). ... show more

Our old Honeywell tall oscillating fan died on us this year. Everything I could find as a replacement was smaller, and made of the cheapest possible plastic. It all felt like it would fall apart in a few months, and I expected it to fit the $25 +/-price tags. So when I found this Black & Decker name brand I was excited to try it. B&D makes solid products, unlike Lasko or Mainstays. The price was a little higher but I don't care about paying more, so long as the quality is there and the item lasts. I was more than impressed with this fan! It's super heavy and solid, which is great so the kids aren't going to knock it over or break it running into it. It's also crazy quiet. I usually set it to medium and can barely hear it. The fact that it has a timer is really nice, and the remote control is just a bonus. I was a bit surprised at how lightweight the construction was. However, I have been using it and it works fine. My only other criticism would be the controls on the fan itself. I don’t want to have to look for another remote, so I just use the switches on the fan. They are difficult to see and use. They are flush with the surface and there is no distinctive feel of the switch when you operate it. This is one of those “you get what you pay for.” It does move the air! ... show more

This worked great up until this morning when I merely touched it and it tilted to the side. I tried to fix it but I was short on time since I had to leave for work and was gonna return it and buy a different one. However, once I got home, I searched through my different size washers and found one that was the perfect size and I was able to help keep the weird L shaped bolt in place, since it kept popping through the hole and didn't have any support to keep it in place. It actually does come with a metal piece that came attached (see photo) but it didn't seem to work out everytime I tried to attach it under the base, so I couldn't use it. I am still giving this 5 stars since the fan works great other than the temporary issue I had with it this morning and the fact that it was such an easy fix. However, I'd recommend that the manufacturer include a washer with this so that the weird L shaped bolt doesn't slip though the hole. ... show more

    • Leaking Lubricant.

I set up the fan, works great! Week and a few days later the fan started to make some noise so decided I'd take a closer look at the fan and I grabbed onto the backpiece of the upper part of the fan where the information sticker is. I got my hand covered in lubricant that's been leaking out of the upper part of the fan. The sticker starting to peel off with all the lubricant. ... show more
