  • Works great!
Style: 13 kW
I'm using this on one washing machine at the 13kW setting. It worked geat after doing a little adjusting to the water supply at the hot and cold shut offs to the washer. I would highly reccomend reading the requirements before you purchase. Unit uses very large guage power supply wires that you will need to have installed. ... show more

  • NOT for Northern States!
Style: 7 kW
I live in Ohio, not exactly the North Pole, but far enough north that my ground water temperature is pretty cold. I installed this in a new detached workshop on a single sink. The result was cool water that gets slightly warm for a minute then goes to ice cold. This was disappointing considering the expense of getting power to the sink area, plus the cost of the unit. If I had it to do over, I would have used a small 6-gal water heater. Saved the expense of running the 240V power line and would have actually had hot water. Beyond this, the build quality seems kind of flimsy. Plastic everything. ... show more

  • Great concept and product but beware of the hidden expenses and the important specifications…
Style: 13 kW
The media could not be loaded. As you can hopefully tell, from the video and pictures I have attached to this review, this Black & Decker water heater is well-designed and performs EXACTLY as the product’s listing page on Amazon says it will. However, there are some VERY important aspects regarding the implementation and use of this product which everyone should be aware. I was not aware and I’m hoping that this review will help you make a better decision than I did. First of all, the cost of this item is relatively inexpensive. This is a good thing. However, the potential plumbing modifications (especially if you want to install it for maximum benefit) will end up costing you more than the heater itself (and that’s assuming that you perform the installation yourself). Another important consideration is the electrical modifications you will have to make in order for this device to operate safely. You will have to buy a double pole breaker and run either size 4 or size 6 wire from your panel to the heater (size 4 is safer and size 6 is cheaper). In my situation, the breaker and the wire also cost me more than the heater did and, again, I did all of the work myself. The bottom line here is that you must be prepared to spend TRIPLE the cost of the heat in order to complete your project and that is assuming that you are knowledgeable and skillful enough to do all of the work yourself. The other issue is that you MUST pay particular attention to one, important specification. According to the manufacturer, the unit needs at least 1.5 gallons per minute of water flow in order to operate properly. 1.5 gallons per minute may not seem like a lot (I just assumed I had a water flow greater than that), and you probably get at least that if you are hooked up to city water, but for people who get their water from a private well, there is no guarantee. After days of troubleshooting everything I could think of in order to get this system to function properly, I finally decided to test the flow rate. As it turns out, my well only provides half a gallon per minute so my water heater wouldn’t even turn on. While none of what I just explained is the fault of the product or the manufacturer, I sure wish I knew all of this BEFORE ordering this product. On its own, this product is worthy of a 5-star rating. However, I think the manufacturer was remiss by not explain things more thoroughly on their Amazon listing page on. This project is not for the faint of heart which is one of the many reasons I considered in giving this product a 4-star rating. Good luck! ... show more

  • Black & Decker normally makes good stuff
Style: 13 kW
I think this one is a good one, but dang...I had wanted to put it in my trailer as a substitute for a propane hot water heater (one less thing to worry about), but the amps/wiring needed for this one that is JUST for one sink and one shower...whew! I think they need to rethink this design for an electrical on-demand hot water heater. ... show more
