  • It works, it just took a little bit of time
Color: Orange
My 8 week old German Shepherd w so much energy and sharp teeth kept chewing on my curtains. As soon as he started to chew on them, I held him back and sprayed 2 times on the spot he was chewing. He saw that and got curious so he went for it again. I did the same and sprayed 3 more times. This stuff is so nasty I even got it in my mouth and it took forever to shake the taste off my mouth. My dog kept chewing so I distracted him and he ran straight to the water bowl wanting to swim in it and put his whole face inside. I didnt blame him it tasted so bitter in my mouth. His pee also smelled really bad. Next day, he went straight for my curtains again. I did the same thing. Held him back while he watched me spray the spot he was chewing on. I sprayed 3 times and I held my breath and closed my mouth. Then walked away. He kept chewing. I removed him with a toy. I had lost hope on this spray. He ran to the water bowl again. A few hours later, he was back at the curtains. I did the same thing and sprayed 2-3 times while holding him back. He went back to the curtain but did not chew!!!! OMG. I couldn't believe my eyes. Its been 2 weeks now and I don't even have to spray the curtains anymore. He completely ignores them and just passes by them and does something else. Last week, he is started to chew on the electrical sockets. I already dog proof them but he found a way to take the little cover out and chew on it. I started the spray process on 3 od the wall sockets. It took 2 days and about 3 occurrences of the spray for him to learn not to touch them. He doesn't go near them anymore and I don't have to spray them anymore. Now he's chewing on the baseboard of the walls. I just started the spray training. I'm on day 1 spray 1 with 3 squirts lol. It's one step at a time and 1 item at a time. BTW... I also bought the cherry chew spray (smells better) and did the same process I just described here. No luck at all!!! I think it's worse because it smells good. Made me want to taste it and its not that bad. This bitter apple is the worse. My dog seems to be having normal behavior even though he prob has already consumed half of this spray in training him not to chew. If you're running out of options give it a try! Also the owners are very attentive and email you lots of information =) ... show more

  • Doesn't deter dachshunds
Color: Orange
I purchased the 5x strength cause I really needed to curb my miniature dachshunds, who are 11 weeks old, from chewing basically anything they get a hold of. So, when the product arrived, I sprayed their doggie ramp, the sofa legs, pretty much anything at eye level for them. Didn't even slow them down, in fact, when I went to spray again they got excited, tails wagging, couldn't wait till I sprayed. But , funny turn of events, I sprayed so much it accidentally got on my lips and gotta tell ya, it's a nasty remedy to chewing stuff. I haven't chewed anything in days!! Seriously, it does taste awful, and lingers. Unfortunately my dogs loved it, so my quest continues for an effective solution. ... show more

  • My dog seems to like it
Color: Orange
I'm not sure if this actually worked. My dog has a variety of chew toys with different textures, so he chews when he's nervous or anxious, not because he's bored. I think changing our routine and his environment made a bigger difference in his chewing than this spray did. You do need to wash your hands a couple times after spraying this. Even if you don't think you got it on your fingers, you did. And hold your breath while you spray, or you'll inhale it, and it really does taste bad and sticks in your nose. My dog would chew my shoes (no one else's) when he was a puppy, so we started spraying this on them, and he started taking my shoes twice as often as he did before we sprayed them. He did quit chewing to destroy them (possibly from the spray, possibly because I tied a shoe to his collar for a few afternoons) and just ended up licking them and cuddling with them instead. He has since stopped caring about shoes, so I'm really not sure if the spray helped or if he simply grew out of it. I also sprayed this on some plants, and he kept chomping on those too (although the cat left them alone after the spray). We go for two walks at the same time every day now, but when we miss one, he goes back to uprooting plants, even with the spray. He also chewed on the corner of our new couch, so we fixed it and sprayed it, but he chewed it again, so we ended up draping a blanket over the corner, which worked way better than the spray. I will say that this did not stain or ruin anything. My plants are still alive. We've used it on chairs with wooden legs and cushion seats as well as the couch, and no discoloration appeared and the finish is still on the wood. ... show more

  • 10/10 experience and a few laughs
Color: Orange
It definitely works. I bought it because my dog had a sore on her foot and wouldn’t stop licking it. I treated her foot by wrapping it till it healed, for a week or so. After her foot healed she still wouldn’t stop with the licking so I bought the bitter spray hopping to deter her. My sister wanted to see what it tasted like before we spray it on my dog. So I sprayed it on her hand and she tasted it. It took a few seconds but the awfulness of the spray quickly kicked in. There was quite a bit of gagging and coughing as it was so foul and also hard to get rid of the taste. I know as when spraying it on the dog it somehow got in my nose and throat and lips. (Definitely recommended wearing a mask) It took everything in the fridge and mouthwash to attempt to rid of the taste. It helped a little but not much. I did feel a little bad putting it on my dog after that, but it worked and hopefully it only takes that one spray. ... show more

  • if you're desperate it's worth it
Color: Green
I was super desperate as my little one is chewing things that are unsafe! This product worked for a couple of things, if I sprayed it over and over and over again several times a day.... for weeks. I even used up two bottles to really give this a solid try. Still, it only helped her ignore two things. I found a DIY recipe that works better and is cheaper. This is worth it if you've tried everything you can think of and can't afford doggie day care/training/etc, but I wouldn't call it a cure-all by any means. If you aren't desperate, skip it and look up/test out a DIY method. ... show more
