This device is amazing! I am a person who attracts anything that bites…mosquitos, chiggers, no see‘ems. They love me. In Florida during a 25 minute period watching the sunset, I had 33 bites on my arms, legs, face, and feet. My grandson and I suffered miserably. He cried all night and I scratched the bites in my sleep until they bled. Have you ever told a five year old not to scratch a mosquito bite? The only way we could curtail his scratching was to cover him in band-aids. We bought every kind of product CVS sold Afterbite, Benadryl, you name it we tried it. For the remainder of the trip I did not see anymore sunsets…I couldn’t deal with anymore bites. The same thing happened visiting a friends cottage. They all went out for evening pontoon rides and I stayed home. Then along came bite away…. It’s hard to believe this could even work…I was very skeptical. But zapping a bite with this little machine took the itching away immediately. I thought I’d have to sleep with it under my pillow and zap my bites all night long….nope! If zapped, that bite never itched again! Does it hurt? A minor sting is all. Bug bites hurt and sting if you itch them….but I will put up with a 5 second sting to prevent further itching, scratching and bleeding. The freedom to go outside at sunset or at night knowing if you do get bit you don’t have to suffer is amazing. So I have Skeeter Syndrome and have extremely severe reactions to mosquito bites. The other day I was attacked and had 14 bites that turned in to 14 large, red, hot, itchy, miserable spots. I tried the usual Benadryl, Claritin, hydrocortisone cream, some Indonesian stuff, etc. I read a study about the application of high heat directly after a bite and it really works. Pros: if you can get the pen on the bite within minutes after you are actually bitten - I promise you are 100% in the clear from a reaction. Cons: it doesn’t work if the reaction starts. I ordered this pen a day after my bites and by the time it got here the mosquito saliva had already spread and my body was in reaction mode. So this pen HAS to be used within minutes of a bite to PREVENT the reaction. Also it does burn! I don’t mind it because I’d rather suffer a 3 or 5 second duration of intense heat than my skeeter crap. But I had a bite behind my knee and that skin is really tender so the heat sucked there. Still worth it though! The picture is a fresh bite I had on my hand and it was extremely itchy! I used the pen right away and it never itched again and now it’s just a little red bump. I love this tool. Totally worth the money. The hot spoon trick is the only relief I have found that works for me but having to get up and heat up water in the middle of the night is not convenient. Both of my kids have an allergy to mosquito bites and every time they get a bite it swells and itches relentlessly. I've tried everything from itch relief sprays, creams, and lotions to anti-histamine medicines and nothing has done much to provide them relief. Until now that is. The Bite Away really works. And while this does get HOT, it won't burn you. It took a few uses for my 9 yr old to get comfortable with the heat, but now she welcomes it because it spells RELIEF! While I can't speak to the other "bite relief" heat pens available on Amazon, this one is legit. Buy one today, and you can thank me later! ... show more

This little machine works. When you get a mosquito bite, put this little pen on the swollen bite, zap it, and it doesn't itch for several hours! The only thing you should know is that the "zap" is pretty intense - it burns like touching a boiling pot. To me, it's a small price to pay, but some may find it too much to take. ... show more

I break out in hives due to a tick bite. It's called Alpha-Gal Syndrome. The hives spread and get very very itchy. So every time I get a bug bite. I use this right away. I carry it on me like my epi-pen. However, I did discover something new I starting breaking out in hives due to stress. I zapped it with my new little pen and it stopped dead in its tracks. I am one of those people that mosquitoes tend to leave alone. My wife and kids, however, are mosquito buffets. Living in the tropics, they never go away, and never leave them alone. Bought this to try the next time they got eaten and IT WORKS! The disc that you place on the bite does get REALLY hot (literature says between 124F-127F) and initially causes brief concern you are going to burn yourself. But so far, while it still feels uncomfortable, no burns have occurred even with our young kids. And even better, no itching happened after and the bites never swelled. But I would certainly want to follow all the instructions and not use it on your face, sensitive areas, or open wounds. There are two buttons that give either a 3 or 5 second burst of heat. We have found the 3 second one sufficient for everyone and the 5 second one not really tolerable for any better result. ... show more

My go to method was a hot spoon to heat the bite and kill off the venom that makes us itch. This tool does the same exact thing and I love that it's portable. You experience a bit of heat but it's such a relief. I will gladly go through that then itch for days. Love this tool!
