  • Yes yes yes! Awesome camera
This little camera is so good! We love our birds and we actually have 3 bird houses with bird cams in them. 2 of the cams were "cheaper", and although they are nice, this Hawk Eye HD camera is the BEST! Not only the picture, which is full color during the daylight, and very clear black/white at night, but the microphone is so good that it picks up the sound outside the box incredibly. Our cheaper cameras have a "hissing" sound through the microphones, but not this Hawk Eye microphone, it's so clear! We were hesitant to pay the extra cost of this camera, but we're so glad we did! Watching birds build nests, lay eggs, feed their young, and watch the fledglings leave the nest is a real treat! We love it!! ... show more

  • Function is good
The media could not be loaded. I put this in my Bluebird house located outside my window and have had it there for 2 years. I have a direct line running into the house to my color TV. Every winter I remove the house and put another without the camera for roosting. I have not had any problem with the camera and really enjoy viewing the nest. ... show more

  • Great little cam!
Love this little cam! Easy to set up & has a great picture! This is the second year I have had one in a bird house. So much fun watching the eggs hatch & then fledge! And the grandkids love it too!

  • Not really for use inside a birdhouse
This thing is okay, but with one incredibly annoying feature. It can work either with ambient light or with its IR light source. Well, if you put it in a box with a hole in it, it with switch between color and black and white modes about once per second. Anytime a bird moves, anytime a leaf flutters, anytime a cloud moves past the sun, it will make an enormously loud noise, cut out for a second, and switch between B&W and color. It should have a switch to allow you to keep it on "inside-the-box" mode. Of course, you can do this yourself by putting tape over the photocell -- while you're balanced on top of a ladder in a snowstorm. If you like phones, printers, etc., that think they're smarter than you are, you'll love this. If you can find a simpler model without a photocell, buy it. ... show more

  • Using it to monitor my chickens.
I use this as my chicken cam to spy on them in the coop and to monitor their egg laying activity. You can adjust the focus, get complete night vision, almost noise-free sound, and after 1 year, it's still working well. It is not true HD, but at 700 tvl (960 H x 482 V), it allows for pretty clear video capture. I was able to hook it to my surveillance camera DVR (Amcrest HD 720P 8CH) using an RCA Female Plug to BNC male Jack Adapter, so I can get recorded footage from this little useful camera which was a breeze to install with the tiny size and integrated microphone. I also have a non-HD hawk eye bird cams at 380 tvl (480 H x 272 V), and the resolution and microphone noise differences are very noticeable, so I definitely recommend you get the much better quality HD Hawk Eye camera even at a bit of extra cost. ... show more

  • Good bird/nest cam for the $$$ but subpar sound
This is a much better camera than the cheaper "non HD" Hawk Eye camera. I just installed it today (in a standard Bluebird box) and so far I'm impressed with the quality. It's not 720P or 1080P quality or even in widescreen format, but the resolution is better than standard definition and thus they can call it "high definition" because there is no standardized meaning of "high-definition" (per Wikipedia). Now some notes: * The camera has a short cord that you attach to the 100 foot included cable so you have to deal with protecting this connection if it's outdoors (there are three connections - power, video, and audio). On the plus side it makes it easy to just replace the 100 foot cable if it got damaged. * The output is your old-fashioned RCA yellow video connector with one white audio connector... it's not HDMI here even though it says "HD" and it's not stereo audio * You can buy additional cable if you need a run over 100 feet, though I'm not sure how that affects video quality. * There is a focus-lock screw on the lens which you loosen to set the focus and then lock it in. Don't forget to set the focus before installing if you can (it's often easier that way). * In a nest box, like a bluebird box, there will be little color because it will be dark, although I can sometimes see blue on the bluebirds when there is enough light during the brightest parts of the day. 5 stars because I think it's the best there is for the $$. I'm REALLY enjoying watching what's going on in my bluebird box and looking forward to watching the eggs hatch in a few days. UPDATE 2017-03-26: I'm still really liking this cam and have uploaded a photo of it showing 4 bluebird eggs in my bluebird box on a Samsung TV. I do have some static/crackling issues with the microphone but it's not too bad. However, because of this, I'm changing my rating to 4.5 stars and rounding up to 5. UPDATE 2019-04-03: I'm using it for live streaming now. The microphone is pretty bad now... with a bunch of background noise and whine so I'm down-rating to 3.5 and rounding up to 4. It's too bad because otherwise I like this camera. ... show more

  • Works perfectly
It was easy to set up. I put it inside the bluebird house and watched one brood fledge and the second attacked by a house wren. That was traumatic, but I didn’t have to wonder what happened to the eggs.

  • Great quality, great price and customer service was above and beyond.
Set the camera up in a Purple Martin gourd. It has been so much fun watching the adult birds preparing for their young. Beautiful color during the day and can even watch at night with the infra-red lense(grey scale). The audio is also fantastic!
