2023 update… I bought a new one and it did not work. So a replacement was sent that did work. But we moved right after and I cant find the one that do work.and I’m scared to bug another and it may or may not work also. Original- Ok. So I bought this heater to help heat tub water because our heater has gone out and we now have a mass ice project on our house with converting and something they say about this being an older house ANYWAY… I started out testing to see if it would just do a large amount out water quickly. It heats but it’s not quick with a nice tub size of water. I always set it up about an hour before our baths and leave it, sometimes more and it gets really really hot but I mix in cold water from the faucet and boom the perfect temp. So now I don’t even do a full size of water any more. I do a mid range and then let it set like 45 mins maybe and if steams up my bathroom and then I mix in cold water which makes a full size bath for a grown adult. But anyway it works but you have to learn to adjust your set up time and make it work for your needs. It’s been months(got it somewhere in 2021) and I think my son broke it so we have to get another…it has a big brown scorched mark on it from him sitting it somewhere. I checked the product description multiple times to make sure that the heater would shut off after it reached a certain temperature and it clearly stated that it would. I had the heater in the pool for 30 hours and when I went to get into the water, it literally burned my skin! I stepped out of the water with sore skin. I immediately had to add cold water to the pool and dump out some of the hot. After adding a couple of gallons of cool water, it was cool enough to at least stand in. I used the included thermometer to test the temperature of the water and the water was 106.2° F. Most retail hot tubs cap out at 104. My pool's water was visibly steaming in 82° daylight weather. Don't say the heater automatically shuts off at a certain point if it won't. This was a dangerous case of false advertising. ... show more

When my water heater was down I used this heater temporarily in the tub. It took about an hour to reach a comfortable bathing temp. In a tub that wasn’t full. My concern was about the point where the wire extend from the heater. Should there be so much play and movement at this point?

I leave this in the pool for 2 hours and the pool water gets to 83 to 85 degrees. It really takes the chill off the water. Two heaters for the amount of water I am heating but I am happy with one heater.

    • Does the Job
I use it to warm up water in a dunk tank for tires , its pretty durable and seems to heat up pretty quickly. Only thing ive noticed is that every once in awhile we get a nice little electric shock nothing big just enough to make your whole body tingle. i bought 2 and both of them do the same thing if your using for an aquarium you might find some fried fish in your tank if your not careful. ... show more

I bought 2 of these for a above ground indoor pool. They worked good for a week and one quit working completely and the other one is slowly starting to die as well. I would not recommend for a pool or anything else that will require a lot of use.
