I read about this product and compared to many others. In my opinion it’s exactly what I expected. If your someone who likes be methodical and follow instructions exactly and take care of your products (any product for that matter) then there is nothing bad to say about this. If you need to throw in wood and a bunch of lighter fluid and not that patient probably not a good idea to get this. You have to build the fire up slow, not over fill it and keep the wood away from the battery pack and all that stuff which they extensively go over in the latest videos. If you can do that and your looking for something portable especially I can’t imagine there’s a pit better than this one. It’s great for my little driveway or porch fires to do s’mores for the kids and that’s all I need. I can get a fire going in about 5-10 mins now with my system down and watch it while I have a drink or talk to a friend. It’s really relaxing that way. I do like the Bluetooth control too. I’ve been inside and seen the fire dwindling on the back porch and cranked it up to keep it going. And the battery pack can charge your electronics too. Again that’s great for a camping scenario and for me if there’s a bad winter storm or something, since I don’t have a fire place, this could really save the day which is why I wanted it too. I never let the thing sit out more than overnight and I use a brush and clean and store it. If you’re not that kind of person I can see how you’d be disappointed.

Love this thing. We did take the advice from others regarding spray painting it for longevity with a high heat grill spray paint from Home Depot. Not sure if it’s needed or not but we figured why not. We did have a slightly bent grill that came with it so we reached out to the warranty individuals and they sent us a new one easily and for free. Which was SO NICE and appreciated. I didn’t take a pic of the new one put it is straight and totally functional! (Technically the bent one would’ve also been functional). Seriously the warranty dept is amazing and after one email it was fixed! We did buy the mat separate but it is FOR SURE needed if you use it on grass or wood because soot does come through the bottom grates onto the mat (or grass aka fire hazards if you don’t have a mat). I was initially worried about the fan noise and on #2 it’s cool to watch and effective but quiet. On #3+ it does start to sound more like white noise but still not a big deal. Can still talk etc. what I LOVE is that you can see the logs burn and the coals vs others. Seriously obsessed with this thing!! It’s a perfect match with our bottle keepers in our backyard for summer and fall.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this almost 2 years ago as of this review, used it every time I got the chance during the Fall and Winter for California's cold rainy days. It's been working great but the one flaw I found is that even after cleaning and keeping it stored in a dry place, the sliding trapdoor for the removal of ash has rusted up. I am planning to remove this trapdoor and replace it but other than that issue, I give it 4 out of 5 stars

I’m very impressed with the quality of this Biolite. Even all the extras including the canvas bag are of the top notch manufactured parts. This surely will be able to be passed on to the next generation. Don’t know the lifespan of the heat generator but it’s very well made. Everything is easy to assemble. I got the rack and griddle also. The Best heat/electric generator & firepit/grill on the market in my humble opinion. My brother has the smaller version which is more for bug out or camping outdoors.

I have a BioLite stove and love it, and when I ordered the FirePit I had high hopes, but alas, I was left with one of the most disappointing shopping experiences I have ever had. Let me be clear, this is not a critique of Amazon and maybe not even the product, but the seller, BioLite, through Amazon. I ordered a **New** BioLite grill but after nearly a week of delayed shipping I received a used, scratched and dented grill with barely any packing material, no manual, and no cables. To top it off, the box has literally ashes in it and you can tell where someone cooked food on the grill… I genuinely don’t understand how they let this be ship out. It doesn’t look like they even tried to clean/refurbish the product. False and, frankly, gross advertising BioLite... you just lost a customer, and I will no longer be recommending your products.

So this has been sitting in the garage for about two years without use. The pit arrived safely with the box intact, but during assembly I noticed that the legs were not mounted properly at the factory so that the entire pit wobbles when on the ground. The inside of the pit is missing the enamel coating on about half of the bottom, making me question the rust resistance. There are several chips where there is no enamel coating, but I think I’ll use some high heat paint to coat this spots. The battery powered blower seems to be ok in that it has held a charge for the past few years without it being recharged. I can’t comment on how well logs burn or anything like that, I have not used it. But the lack of quality control is disturbing. For what you get, I believe the price is too much. Based on the quality, I would say it should be a $50 item and it easily sells for four times that.
