Amazing stuff. We just bought a house with really stained (formerly) white carpets and this has brought them back to their original color. There is NO perfumey, chemical smell like other so-called "carpet cleaners". (My mom use to use Bissle cleaner with her houseful of dogs and it just smelled like wet-dogs plus perfume... Not the scent I'm going for in my house...) When poured in the machine, BioKleen has a refreshing grapefruit scent. Upon application, there seems to be a very faint citris scent, but it's an actual citrus scent, not perfumery or fake smelling. And seriously, I got down on my hands and knees to smell the carpet after cleaning and there is NO smell! Just perfectly clean carpets on what use to be this horrible wet-dog smell. I was pleasantly surprised that the smell had been obliterated. If you are sensitive to headaches inducing scents and perfumes, then this is what you want to use on your carpets. (Also, with my two toddlers, I feel better knowing I'm using a cleaner that isn't toxic.) LOVE this and will keep on-hand for future use. ... show more

I have usually used Bissell or something similar. Recently our daughter has been staying with us, and she is sensitive to chemical odors. I needed to shampoo the carpets, so I tried this since it is natural and fragrance free. I didn’t really expect much, to tell the truth. It turned out that it did an absolutely fantastic job!! Removed heavy, dried pet stains! No trace left! No smell! Amazing!! Highly recommend! ... show more

UPDATING REVIEW: It's been 2.5 months since I first used it. The carpet is twice as dirty than before I cleaned it. I wonder if there was residual soap and it's drawing dirt to it now? I'm going to clean it again and rinse rinse rinse and see if it preforms better afterwards any better than the first time. ORIGINAL REVIEW:This product is EXCELLENT! I followed the other user reviews that suggested to reduce the small amount of solution in the machine. I put in 1tsp Biokleen with a 1/2 gallon of boiling hot water in a Bissel carpet cleaning machine. My Bissel machine doesn't have a heating element to keep the water hot...since I used boiling water it stayed hot in the machine's reservoir. I have 9 yr old cream berber carpet with out stain guard on it. My dog chewed some greasy bones on the carpet creating stains. :( Biokleen's carpet cleaner preformed beautifully! :) It removed the bone grease spots and removed the walking path on the carpet. I pretreated the stains with a light spritz of white vinegar and water first and let that set for 10 minutes, I'm not sure that made any difference. I use several other Biokleen products which are excellent cleaning products too! ... show more

This large container of detergent will fill many home carpet cleaner tanks. I personally put 1 cap full into a regular size upright carpet cleaner; 2 if the carpet is really bad. So far I’ve cleaned one bedroom floor twice and 3 cars and barely made a dent in the bottle. If you have a carpet cleaner that specifically has a heating element to keep water hot, this stuff works really well and smells good too. It’s a neutral, clean, natural smell. I had a little green bissell pro heat portable cleaner and this stuff did not really work when I used that machine because there was no actual heating element in it (yet they call it the pro HEAT? End rant.....) so I do believe heat and very hot water is key with this stuff. Will buy again to use with my upright carpet cleaner. ... show more

Great option for people with sensitive skin and chemical allergies! My 4yr old daughter is allergic to so many thing and if there is a chemical in something then it wont be long and she will break out in a rash. This stuff worked better then the other brands at the stores with all the fake junk in them ( I tried a few before I knew there were other options) this stuff kicks bum for sure!     • Good natural alternative to other carpet cleaners
I try to shampoo the carpets in my apartment regularly but the Bissell/Hoover brands had such a strong scent every time I would use them. I also worried about my cats being affected by the scent/chemicals. I love other Biokleen products so I decided to try the carpet shampoo. It has a faint scent in the bottle but I didn't notice any scent while shampooing the carpet. Like other Biokleen products, it is VERY concentrated. The first time I used it (in my Hoover Smartwash), there was a lot of foam in the dirty water tank. The second time I used it, I filled the solution reservoir with half cleaner/half water which worked much better. I might even dilute it a little more next time, so I think this container will last me a long time. The carpet feels soft and looks fresh after drying, with the other brand cleaners sometimes the carpet would feel stiff even with rinsing. I love that it has more natural ingredients and is safe to use with pets. ... show more

I bought this to clean some really filthy rugs. It is American made and cruelty free, both very important to me. The scent out of the bottle is mildly citrusy and light. On the rug the scent disappears, leaving only “clean” behind. The product does a great job. Had to go over the rug I did twice (I said it was filthy) but the product did what it was supposed to do and I didn’t have to use a lot. I followed the instructions for a rental machine even though I used my own machine and that seemed to be right. It rinsed clean and the fibers are soft and fluffy. I can recommend this carpet cleaner. If you have pets and are cleaning up spots, it does fairly well, but pretreatment is probably a good idea. Biokleen makes those too, as well as deodorizers. I didn’t get either and think for the next rug I probably will get the spot treatment. ... show more

Natural scent, and awesome cleaning power. We love Bac-out for spraying solids cloth diapers after rinsing, and for pet messes. The enzymes really do magic on organic matter. Recently, I bought a home carpet shampooer, and was grateful to find Biokleen made this carpet shampoo. With aging pets, this cleaner has made a world of difference for our area rugs and carpeted basement. I would never use the conventional carpet cleaners, because of the toxic and harsh chemicals used. Plus, we are very sensitive to artificial perfumes and fragrances.
