  • It really improved our coffee.
This really easy to use and does the job! Our coffee wasn't real hot and taste was bitter. After I cleaned our coffee pot it was hot and taste so much better. I will be descaling our machine with Biocaf again.

  • Good alternative to Durgol
We've used Durgol forever and decided to try Biocaf due to lower cost and eco-friendly ingredients. No issues with cleaning the espresso machine. I was worried initially about the powder fully dissolving, but it does dissolve in water quickly and easily.

  • Hard to appraise
This descaling powder arrived a couple of days after our espresso machine began nagging us that it was time to descale. My husband has taken very good care of the machine since we set it up, even taking it half apart weekly to do maintenance, so I was surprised that he more or less ignored its' complaining about descaling. We do have very soft water here, and the machine has a carbon filter, however the latter has been taken into account in the descaling schedule. I ordered this descaler, and it got here very quickly, which is good, because I was paying attention to the machine's nagging. Has it helped? difficult to say. We do have very soft water, but it is a nice espresso machine, one which makes our days nicer, and replacing it would not be minor, so I will take their advice when they say it is time to descale. Nothing much to lose. I am sorry if this review did not tell you much about the product. I can not really compare it to anything. We lost the little packet which came with the machine, or used it so long ago that I could not in fairness, compare them. I believe using the descaling powder helped in some way, to ward off future problems, but since we did not have any evidence of problems related to hard water (which we do not have) it is really difficult to tell if it did. ... show more

  • Good for my kitchen work horse.
Let’s face it – your coffee maker is probably one of the top three 'work horses' of your kitchen. So, if you have a good one, it would serve you well to extend the life of it by using a quality descaler every few months. Since my fancy coffeemaker is finicky and a little too demanding for its own good, I have to be careful of what I use for descaling solutions. I often find that major retailers’ descaling powders are terrific but very pricey. They often seem to have trouble keeping them in stock and they come in one-size-fits-all paper packages that are often overkill for a small coffee maker. In contrast, this clean-looking plastic container allows one to scoop out only what is necessary and then twist the top back on easily in readiness for the next use. And even though one always reads that the descaler’s job is to keep the coffee maker’s 'plumbing' in good order and has nothing to do with a cleaning powder’s ability to improve the taste of the next cup after using, I will tell you that after using the descaler, my cup of coffee had no bitterness and tasted as though I had just used a good 'cleaning powder'. It would have been nice to have the directions detailed on the container. Instead, I had to search online. ... show more

  • Biocaf really does work, a smoother and more flavorful cup of coffee!
Over the years I've used vinegar many times in my Keurig and drip coffee machines, and have never been satisfied with the results. Yesterday I cleaned my Keurig by using 1 oz of Biocaf powder/ 32 ounces of water. After dissolving the powder in water in a pitcher, I poured it into the Keurig reservoir, and ran brew cycles until it was empty. Then I filled up the reservoir with clear water, and ran cycles until it was empty again. Then I filled it again and made a cup of coffee, and I immediately noticed it tasted much smoother, and more flavorful. This product really does work! I also love that it's made in the USA, and is biodegradable, a blend of natural ingredients. Considering the high price of some of the Keurig cup cleaners, and other products I've seen, this is a real value considering it contains almost 32 oz, and should last for years in a home setting. Five stars plus, and I'm really glad I found this product! ... show more

  • Good Value, Effective and Easy to Use
This Biocaf Coffee Machine Descaling Powder is a good amount of clean looking, odorless and easy to dissolve powder. According to their website, this is a commercial product and can also be used for descaling home use coffee, kettle and espresso machines at a weaker concentration (28g per liter for home vs. 50g per liter for commerical as written on actual packaging)- so this 900g tub is quite large, and will provide 32 liters of solution at a home-use strength, which is a great bargain compared to many pre-mixed products. The Biocaf website says this is made entirely from plant- and mineral-based ingredients with no phosphates. I tried using this already in my espresso machine according to my machine's directions, and it worked as intended, leaving no residue or other noticeable tastes. I'm pleased to have discovered this useful and very cost-effective descaling solution. ... show more

  • Better than vinegar.
I received the Biocaf Coffee Machine Descaling Powder, 900 g Jar in exchange for this review. If you drink coffee and have a coffee maker of any kind, you know the hassle of descaling the coffee maker. The vinegar creates a strong scent when heated and doesn't always get all the "scale" out. This powder helps fix those issues. It is the same type of descaling agent most restaurants use on their commercial machines. Dissolve the proper amount of this in water, run it partway through the machine and then pause the brew and let the mix sit for a time, then finish the brew and run a couple pots of plain water to rinse. (Same as with vinegar, but without the smell) I found the coffee brewed right after a vinegar descaling to sometimes taste "off". I have not had that issue with this powder, though. Would highly recommend. ... show more
