Update** With airplane mode on and the lights off, battery is great, for a tablet; okay as an eReader. With both cold and warm lights on, airplane mode: battery life is meh. With only warm lights on, airplane mode on: battery life is okay. With all lights off, but WiFi on: battery life is meh. Overall opinion after using it for a while: Think of this as an Android tablet with a stylus that you don't have to be always online for and can use in the sun without trouble. Don't want to carry around a 10"+ android device and still want to take notes? This is it and you can't do better. This wasn't that hard to learn or adapt to. I was amazed by the capabilities. I love that I didn't need an account to use their built-in chatgpt. The notes and pen experience was responsive and not like glass. Love that the google play store is available. But, I'm not sure the security of Android 11 is great. It kept logging me out of things on other devices because it looked suspicious. Still, with the aid of the camera option with Google translate, I was set. Here's where I have gripes: The battery life is Disappointing.** (see update) What is the point of having 6GB of RAM if at all times with minimum activity, half of that is in use? With some optimization and updates to android/firmware, this would be great. Still, I already own an 8" device with better battery life, contrast and color. It's a full tablet, but, at the price of this one, hard to justify. In conclusion: if you already own an iPad mini, put a paperlike screen protector, leave it in airplane mode, and you pretty much are set. However, if you are in the Android ecosystem, want one device with multiple eBook platforms, chatGPT, better Chinese translator, go all in on this. It's the best 8" android option we have so far with this level of processing, storage, and extras. Just don't think it's going camping with you. Now...a day outside at the park? This is a lovely product but not worth the high price. A couple of apps are entirely in Chinese; I need to learn how to change the language settings in the app. The product picture shows 100+ templates, but I only found about 15-20. I asked the question in the Q&A, but I am still waiting for someone to respond. (In my case, I was looking forward to a music sheet template... I found one free PDF online, but it does not fit very well) On the good side, the app for recording meetings is good; I like the AI integration since it is a new technology. It could be better, but it is good. The option to download apps from Google Play is a plus. For writing notes and book reading, it is excellent. Another plus was the relatively fast shipping for coming from China. I recommend this ink note tablet to anyone who does not care about the price and is not looking for or expecting many templates. (I will gladly update my rating if I can get an answer on how to get more templates.) Update: I did get a response. They did not get what I was asking, but they tried. I found other PDFs online that can be used as templates. I still think it is pricey, but I do recommend it. I am even thinking of purchasing another one. ... show more

Update June 30th 2023... This little device is camera is visible to third party note and photojournal apps that allow the taking of a picture directly from a note. And that's even more important because if you find note software that you like better then the native app.. which isn't difficult... It has the capacity for taking pictures from within an open note and dropping them straight into a note. None of the none of the boox devices with cameras does that. Now it really is an ideal field notation device. On top of that it's fast enough that you can write in third-party notes especially if you use global pen, but even without it on the fastest setting. I love my boox tab ultra c but this little guy is the one I put in my pocket if I need to do anything that could involve writing outside. Original review: So is the Bigme S6 color the absolutely perfect e-reader for all circumstances? No. But it's pretty close for some. At 7.8" It's the perfect size for carrying into the field and taking notes out in the sun. It has a decent back camera. And, importantly, It has built-in software to manage the camera so the camera can be used for something other than just a document scanning device. And that's major. Other people may review other aspects of this device. My main focus was using it outside under lighting conditions that would have defeated any normal tablet while trying to take notes and take pictures. One more thing, Bigme includes a case for protection... But what they're not putting out there is that it's alovely case with built-in forward and back page turning buttons. And that too is major. I'm familiar enough with Bigme to know that there are aspects of this device that will drive me nuts... But frankly, in the areas where it counts, the device is solid 5 for me. ... show more

    • Next to perfection but difficult to learn

I am getting to know my unit. Haven't figured out how to create a template, etc. which makes it a slow learning curve. Excellent build quality, pen performance, meeting notes features and color capabilities make it a package that's hard not to love. I've given up a few times on the idiosantric software but keep on marching. Total game changer when I figured out how to install Kindle. ... show more

Just got it but so far so good. I was able to log into a google account so it seems to have google play services. To switch from the default language to English to into settings (click gear at the top) then expanded settings (three gears at the bottom left of the settings dropdown bar that will come up when you press the gear) then in the settings go down to the section with a gear icon at the left. In that menu you will see a language icon as the first option. click that and select the one with EN Edit: Updated to 5 stars, all of the apps I've tried have worked. Thanks Bigme! ... show more
