I love the balanced weight, grip, length and finish of this Made in America tire thumper. It’s nicely made. I felt I should practice using it. I have been practicing on the punching bags at gym (by permission) as stand-ins for tires that need thumping. Punching bags imitate actual tires up to about six feet high, so it’s pretty versatile. Using online search I found a basic set of a half-dozen useful ways to defend yourself from tires that might have the wrong pressure. By practicing these moves through hundreds of real-time swings, wrist flips and jabs, I’m learning the proper distance from the fire, can anticipate my arm reach, have adopted an active stance, and gained full alertness needed for thumping tires. All in self defense, which I focus on. I’m very happy with this tire thumper. It has helped me learn new techniques every time I practice. I am the first one at my gym to practice thumping indoors. Other members comment on this short stick. I chose indoors because the consistently pleasant weather encourages regular practice. Might need a second one, too, and this will be my first choice.

Right out of the box, the quality was amazing, save one thing, but I’ll get to that. Perfect size and good for small to large hands. Not to thin, not too think, great weight and easy to grip. As a trucker, having a quality tire thumper is almost a necessity. You can quickly gauge the air in your tires just by the bounce back and sound. The grip feels great making it easy to use and functional. My only complaints: The grip they use is a plastic Velcro like material. It’s simply “stuck” on there like a grippy tape. The top grip was already peeling off. Maybe that’s due to the cold, but in Ohio, we are in the middle of winter. I pressed it back on and it seems to grip ok, but I’m now worried it’ll peel again once left in the truck. Should that happen, I’ll wet some cord and wrap it myself. The rest of the thumper is perfect for the price so I won’t be sending it back. I think the manufacturer should consider a different type of grip though to prevent peeling and such. Should they all fall off, the finish is slick and you could easily lose your grip. The lanyard at the end should prevent you from accidentally throwing it though. It’s a thinner nylon cord which I intend to replace with some paracord. Overall, I think it’s a good purchase that just needs some minor upgrades.

Overall it's just a nicely finished wood club with grip grooves in the wood and some grip tape on that area so it's non slip. it has a small cord loop which is nice, but i think i'll put a little thicker nylon cord to be a little stronger. The wood is stained a light brown with a slightly darker areas that look nice and has some sort of varnish or clear coat on it to make it glossy. The grip tape is just regular finer skateboard like grip tape but it does enhance the grip. The wood has a fine line down each side of it's oval like shape which fits great in the hand, but i'm wondering if it was made with 2 pieces of wood. It is a good weight and if it had to use in defensive uses, it can cause a lot of damage just based on the feel of it it, besides checking your tires lol.
