I ordered the gray 42" wide XL bed for dogs up to 80 pounds to take to the kennel when I had to board my dog-child for my trip to a wedding, from which I've just returned. I didn't want her to have to sleep on the hard kennel floor unless she wanted. Therefore I've only seen her on this bed a few times so far but that isn't surprising. She is about a 75-pound Lab who has the run of my home, so she sleeps in various places she chooses including on sofas, chairs, the floor, and on my bed with me. She loves getting any new toy so I thought she'd also like getting "her" new bed, but so far she usually prefers her old sleeping places. She hasn't quite claimed it as hers yet and that's okay. The 42" XL bed seems to be a good size for her, as the size chart recommended, and I'm pleased with it so far, although we didn't really need it at home. See photo. For dogs who prefer to stretch all the way out sizing up a size might be preferable. The top of the foam insert is the egg-crate texture and the bottom is flat. The flat part of the bed has a low plush pile and the sides and back have more of a velvet texture. Both are soft. This main part of this bed isn't super-thick nor extra firm but I'm guessing it provides some adequate cushioning unless a large or heavy dog has orthopedic problems. When I press with some of my weight on it it seems to compress to the floor, but I'm not sure. For large or heavy dogs with orthopedic problems a thicker memory foam mattress might be better but check with your vet. This bed is likely better than many especially for under $50 for XL size. The side "arms" or bolsters are not as high as most chair arms. It arrived with the inner foam mattress insert packaged separately from the zip-on cover. (I don't think I could have re-packaged it in its original box for a return.) It was easy to zip the cover on the foam mattress although it is a snug fit. There was some odor but I tried to air it out all day on my deck. After picking her and the bed up from the kennel stay, although the bed wasn't soiled I washed the removable cover and it came out looking like new. The side and back stuffed bolsters are made into the cover on the one I received (unlike shown in one video having zippers) and aren't removable, but this was no problem. I washed the cover (including the stuffed sides) on the bulky washer setting on cool and dried it a few minutes on delicate low, then laid it out to finish air drying overnight. I like this style bed better than several I found locally and it doesn't take up too much floor space for the open size of the mattress, unlike some. It also seems to be a good value for the quality and size. She does not chew or destroy her toys or bedding so the durability will be fine for her. For dogs who are chewers a thicker, tougher cover might be preferable. ... show more

Both of my large dogs adore this bed. Its so plush and yet supportive for my senior grrl. Even I like laying on it! Its easy to clean, the cover stays soft even after washing and the bed pad inside is durable enough that it holds its shape very well. The memory foam insert is a bit stiff when you move the bed and/or change the cover for laundry day, which isn't a problem really. That means its nice and durable! <3 ... show more

This bed is very large, soft, and comfortable. My dog loves it so much that we ended up getting one for every room because our floors are too hard for her to comfortably lay on. Anytime we’re looking for her, there’s a pretty good chance she’s on one of these beds. She sleeps on them, chews her toys on them, and even takes her snacks over to them. We’ve had this bed for over 3 years and it has outlasted several other dog beds that were twice or more the price! My senior dog loves lounging on it, it’s easy to clean, hasn’t lost its shape at all, and is super durable. Great value! It’s a good dog bed. I have the extra extra large because my dog weighs 150 pounds. The cover is washable. The only thing I did not expect or like was the border pillow inserts are not removable

My old gal loves the bed. It is perfect for her 14.9 year old bones. She is a chocolate lab and I went ahead and bought the next size up so she can really spread out. Plenty of room for her to stretch those legs. My neighbor even came over and laid in the bed to test it out and found it comfortable. lol Very good quality, very soft covering, thick foam padding. Great dog bed! I went with the biggest one as it was only $10 more. The brown color even kind of matches my furniture but best of all both dogs fit on it and can spread out. The shepherd is 9 so she's really enjoying this for her aging joints. Wasn't too hard to assemble, just took time. Glad the cover comes off when it's time to wash it! ... show more
