  • Effective and adaptable metal bed slats.
These slats effectively support my new hybrid mattress and wooden foundation. My old four poster bed has never had slats (bought used) and I didn't realize I needed them until I read the mattress warranty. After researching wooden slats I found metal options and decided on these. They were relatively easy to install though the directions were incomplete. Having read other reviews I was prepared with information omited in the instructions. A nice plus is that my double bed is narrow enough that I was able to use the slats separately. So I have four points of support accross the frame and placed the feet down the middle where the single bottom plank of the foundation runs lengthwise. Now the new mattress is fully supported and feels as stable and comfortable as the showroom model. Delivery was quick and trouble free. Also,I should add that the bed frame has 8 metal L supports (4 pairs) so I duct taped the slats to the metal supports. No drilling or rigging up wooden lenthwise planks as I had thought might be necessary. Foundation and mattress fit snug enough that I don't think there will be any shifting to the degree that might defeat the duct tape. Time will tell. Over all I extremely happy with the purchase ... show more

  • Amazing fix for older bed slats
Amazing fix for a bed with older bowed mattress slats. My brand new very expensive mattress was low in the center and the bed frame squeaked like no tomorrow. The existing slats were bowed from age causing a lot of instability, as well as not properly supporting the mattress. This well built, easy to install solution was well worth the moderate cost and repairs an older frame to like new. ... show more

  • Best of the available of solutions rough around the edges and low spec hardware
TLDR: Best of the available solutions, will work for its intended purpose, but a little tricky to get together and not the best quality components. If you have an weak or wobbly bed frame this is for you. You'll need a socket wrench and I want some protective feet for the floor. Ikea doesn't make the world's strongest products and this strong metal base gives extra support to bed frames. We ordered two sets for extra support with a King and it appears there is a misfit between the parts on one set either from the manufacturing process or being banged up by UPS. The seller was quick to respond to my inquiry on Amazon and provided some more instructions and his phone number and one set went together as expected. Other should go together after we file it down or bend it straight in a vice it's just an 1/8th inch or so shy of being able to go together even a rubber hammer might be enough to get it together. This is the best of the available products goes together reasonably well and provides a lot of support. Finish quality and supplied hardware isn't top spec but it should do the job and it's something that will be hidden from view. Instructions could be clear with better illustrations and it would be nice if a socket wrench and rubber feet or floor protector was included. Updating this review because it appears they will work as intended but is a little tricky if you're not the most handy or mechanically inclined person and it's obviously not a high-quality well finished product. ... show more

  • I am an average-sized man with the bed support of a fortress
Friends. Romans. Fellow purchasers of structural bed components. Gather round, for I have a tale. My queen-size bed came with three center support slats, and for years, we lived in harmony. Then I moved. And somewhere in that move — perhaps in a truck, perhaps in a stairwell, perhaps at the hands of a friend who "totally had it" — my three loyal slats got slightly bent. Not destroyed. Just... compromised. Wounded veterans. They still stood, but they stood the way I stand after sitting on the floor too long: technically upright, but you can tell something happened. The result: a bed with subtle sag. A box spring with trust issues. A mattress that had clearly lost confidence in the system beneath it. Now, here's where I need to be honest about who I am. I'm 5'9", 180 pounds. An aggressively average man. A man whose presence no reasonable bed should struggle to support. And yet I lay awake at night KNOWING the support beneath me was at 80%, and I could not live like that. So I bought these: TWO additional center support systems, MADE IN THE USA. American steel. American engineering. American refusal to let a box spring droop even one millimeter. I now have FIVE support slats under my queen bed. FIVE. Let me put this in perspective: my bed now has the structural redundancy of a highway overpass. This bed could support a small car. A baby elephant could take a nap up there. If guests stay over, I don't say "the bed's comfortable," I say "the bed is RATED for whatever you've got." Meanwhile, the actual load is one average-sized man and his completely normal amount of body weight, sleeping atop infrastructure that could survive a building inspection. Is it overkill? Massively. Do I sleep like a king on a perfectly level, unshakeable platform? ABSOLUTELY. The bent slats don't even have to try anymore — they're basically in a support group now, and the two new American slats are doing the heavy lifting, which again, is just me. One regular guy. And now, the moment you've all been waiting for. Gerald (my red gummy bear, lost to the great gummy massacre of my pantry, memorialized in every review since) spent his brief life at the bottom of a 5-pound bag, bearing the weight of thousands of bears stacked above him. He never sagged. He never buckled. He held that bag together with his chewy little body until the very end. These supports carry his spirit: silent, uncomplaining, load-bearing heroes. When I look under my bed, I don't see five steel slats. I see Gerald. Standing guard. Forever firm. Five stars. Five slats. One average man. Zero sag. Somewhere, Gerald is proud. Follow for more Gerald adventures. :) ... show more

  • Best Priced and Made bed slats for all bed sizes
My Cal King Bed mattress was too high with the box springs and wanted to lower the mattress without the box springs. So I bought two set (2 each in a set) for my Cal King bed frame. I was not sure if this would work, since there wasn't too much information on Amazon about it. And also, the spec's that was posted worried me a bit too. I needed a slat that would be 73 inch wide and the spec's on Amazon stated max 66 inches. But I read the feedback from other buyers, how easy and good these slats were. One commented that it would fit the Cal King bed frame, but didn't know for sure, because they used their slats for a Queen size bed frame. But I took a chance and figure if these slats don't fit my Cal king bed frame, I would either return them or sell them on Craigslist. The slats come a week later after I order it and to my surprise, these slats were easy to assemble and I had my son measure the slats. Boy, the spec's on Amazon was way off, the min. wide is 25 1/4 inches and the max. wide is 90 1/4 inches. No problem fitting in my Cal King bed frame. Plus it has two adjustable leg support with nylon bottoms for each slat and if you need it longer, they comes with leg extenders for each slat. It has one screw hole on each end of the bar to secure it to the wooden bed frame. All the hardware are included with each set. I also added a 5/8" plywood board to cover the gaps between the slats, so that the memory foam mattress wouldn't sag between the slats. Final product came out perfectly. No cracking sound of wood like those wooden slats when you reposition your body on the mattress. I would greatly recommend these slats and can't beat the price too. Thank You Kincaid Furniture Company for a great product and saving me a lot of headaches. ... show more

  • Start with a stiff drink, maybe that would help (don't wait until you've wasted 4 hours)
I am writing this as I stare at the screen with some bourbon in my hand. I could probably stop there, for those of you with some clinical acumen. But why. For the throngs of you who have rated this product so highly --- good for you. Not for me. Here's the thing. I never really thought it was possible to run out of curse words. Hyphenated, conjoined, completely made up ones. So, to all the engineers out there. Here's a question -- how many ways can you utterly, and totally, *&^% UP what should be one of the simplest assemblies, like, ever. We are now officially into hour 4. Seriously. I could have built an entire IKEA house by now. Are you kidding me? For starters: 1) Seventy bucks isn't a lot, but it's not a little either... for a couple pieces of poorly formed metal. 2) Having said that, could you not even assemble these two pieces of hellish, sharp-edged, non-attracting pieces of crap slats before you box it? Knowing how ridiculously difficult it will be for a layperson to do? With sharp-edged pieces of metal flapping and flopping about as you try to jam two things into one thing that is not big enough for the two things? 3) Having said that, the "cleat" as you call it is, understandably needing to hold said two freakish pieces tightly together. But, why would you make it a millimeter too small to accommodate said pieces of hell? What exactly is one to do with two freaking pieces of metal that you cannot conjoin? 4) The feet. Enough said. Are you kidding me? You could not make the feet one solid piece to be screwed in? Instead, you mysteriously include two bolts (no washers, mind you) but two bolts which will not -- and by will not I mean -- despite being tightened with a wrench multiple times --On both sides so, thats infinity x2 -- WILL NOT stay tightened. Why am I even having to place a bolt above the foot. Can you honestly answer that? How hard would it have been to make that foot solid. Are you kidding me? 5) Screws. The tiniest, petitest, most delicate little flowers they are. Seriously. to attach five pounds of whatever this crap is to a bed frame? 6) Are you kidding me? 7) I'm considering skipping the return ship and just asking for your corporate office address. I feel like, although they didn't work out for my bed, they are frightfully aerodynamic and would most likely get good loft. Until they hit your front windows I'm guessing. But then, they'd actually have served a purpose. Unlike right now. ... show more

  • Good product but not so good for king size bed
I would give this product more stars if I had a queen size bed or smaller. This is supposed to fit properly for a king bed. The instructions show how far apart to space the legs from each other for king size beds, but it is not possible to keep the bar extensions inserted enough in the leg tubing at the recommended spacing. I don't understand how this could be overlooked. However, I went ahead and spaced the legs as far as I could from each other while keeping the support bars just enough inside the leg tubing, but this puts more weight on the weaker outer areas where the wood bed frame rails hold the support bars. Hopefully it's ok since we don't weigh a lot. The supports work very well as far as leg strength and keeping the noise down. But I feel a bit cheated paying this much for two sets for my king bed when they don't extend to the recommended spacing. ... show more

  • Outstanding Product
I Absolutely Love these Rails. I had a problem with my Queen Bed tilting and wobbling at the top of the Bed. After investigating, I became aware that one of the legs on my original rails were bent. I found very few options available to replace my damages rails. Then I found Universal Bed Slats Center Support System and I am So Happy that I did. The Rails Arrived Promptly and were Simple to put together. They came with expandable rails for All Bed sizes and Heights. They are made of Strong Metal. I believe the rails are actually stronger than the original rails the bed came with. I have to confess, that I did have a problem with the fittings on one of the rails I received. That's when I discovered their Amazing Customer Service. I called and I left a message on the Customer Service number provided on the simple instruction page. My phone call was returned by the company owner. He could not have been more more apologetic. He explained that there was a factory problem that has since been resolved. He Promptly had a new complete rail set up ( more pieces I even needed ) shipped to my house. This kind of Customer service Is Outstanding. My bed is so completely solid now. My worries are over. I can even let my grandchildren occasionally "jump" on it with no Worries. Do Not hesitate to order these rails, as replacement rails or for added support. You can't go wrong. You will never find a more Professional and Honorable Company to deal with. Universal Bed Slats Center Support System Adjustable Tubular Steel with 4 Legs ... show more
