The battery pack had been ripped off and was not even enclosed within the packaging. So that tree will not light up. I received 2 of the trees. One was ok. There were a few of the decorations loose inside the box. I hot glued them onto the tree. I was taking the trees to the cemetery for my Mom who recently passed from Covid-19. Now, I only have one tree to take. The trees are pretty otherwise. I was pleased with the fullness of the greenery and the decorations. I would fully recommend if they BOTH had battery boxes. Update: the company replaced both trees at no cost to me. They both had battery box’s, but the lights only worked on one tree. I was still able to use them. They really are cute trees. The lights on 2 trees (out of 4) worked properly. I turned them on at 6:00 pm and they stayed on for 6 hours. The timer worked nicely. I never had to adjust the timer. I turned them on the 1st night and then left them alone. ... show more

Ordered two and they are a great size for planters on the porch. Only one had working lights as the battery box was damaged on the second. Had to purchase another set of lights and install.

Update: The timer is built in and not as it looks on the illustration. I had my on all night last night and they were off and then just turned on. Sorry for the confusion with my review. I changed my review and would recommend! Don't buy if you are looking for timer. Mine does not have. Mine has different flashing modes and off but no "on, off, timer." like advertised. Bummer. I bought just because it said it had a timer. Merry Christmas! And to boot, they are now 40% off. No timer and got screwed on price. Oh well. I am not going to ship back because I can't carry the boxes right now because of health issues. Will use without lights. (They are pretty trees). ... show more

    • Don't waste your money

If I could give less than 1 star I would. These are ugly, and have NO TIMER. There is no marking that says on, off, timer. So bundle up when you have to go outside to turn them off at night. To make matters worse, I can't get my money back because the "window" of return has closed.

They look exactly like they do in the picture, AND they DO turn on at dusk, and off after 6 hours - by themselves. Fantastic, exactly what I wanted! Update: I LOVED these - perfect, exactly what I wanted. Just put in batteries, pushed the On button once, and voila! - They turned on by themselves, and turned off after 6 hours. But after 2 or 3 weeks, they just randomly stopped turning on. They do still turn off automatically after 6 hours, which is nice. 2nd Update: No, the DO still turn on by themselves, it's just full dark rather than dusk like my other timered items. (Maybe took a couple days to reset after a battery change?) Not sure if the timer has a light sensor or goes off the time you turn them on. These really are perfect, and especially for the money. As for the other reviews, about the battery case - I've not had that problem. You WANT the case to seal tightly because it keeps out the water from the weather. I'm sure you could put a drop or two of cooking oil (any kind) on your finger and lubricate the seal a little and that would help. ... show more
